    As a Saudi girl, I have been using henna all my life. The past 5 years I had to dye only the roots to cover the grey hair. Henna makes grey hair orange! My mother use katam regularly but still doesn't work efficiently , may be the mistake is in the preparation. We usually add yogurt and leave it to set a while. Also we add chamomile for lightening or Roselle (a red plant ) to give the hair a reddish brown color , and clove to thicken the hair, I don't know if it is true but we add it :)
    Love your videos and thank you very much :)

      Thank you Bite0fSugar for sharing with us your experience with henna. It may turn useful to somebody else too :) Henna makes hair orange or red and mixed with katam or indigo it gives you that amazing dark or light brown ;)

    I have tried your recipe of Hennah and it is great , I was skeptical not to leave henna for hours before putting it on my hair. I followed all your instructions and I got a great color from first time, all gray is completely covered with a minimum time recommended. Add nothing to you hennah but WATER NO OTHER .... yes and stick to a great quality hennah before any thing. Thank you for sharing, also I have the same cat with blue eyes and her name is Bella

    i dye my hair with henna, for about four months.:D and it is so great, it gives me natural red hair, and helps my hair to reduce frizz, and it moisturise it..i dyed my hair once with chemmical dye, and got allergic reaction because of PPD.never again.henna that i buy has only one ingredient, lawsonia intermis, so it doesn't have chemicals.because some ' natural henna' has it.the only thing that i do is, mix henna with red wine.:D because you get more intense color..kisses and hugs from serbia.

    Hi Rozalia
    I am a male and I would like to thank you for your tips on Hanna application.I was dying my hair medium to dark brown with a commercial applicator dye method for men.I have aprox 30-40% grey hair and after about 2 years found dandruff to be a problem.For years now I have been steering away from commercial shampoos and thought it was time to research natural Henna as a healthy alternative.There is a lot of complicated and messy videos on you tube but I wanted a one step process and chose your advice.Well I mixed 3 heaped tablespoons of 100% henna and the same with 100% indigo i applied it around 7.30pm and rinsed at midnight because i wanted to go to bed.My wife joked about wheather I would end up looking like Ronald mcdonald or the green Goblin and she couldnt stop laughing.Well i was surprised to find it turned out a medium brown my hair feels thicker and healthier. I will apply this earlier next time and leave it on longer.Even though I rinsed it with luKe warm water and a little apple cider vinegar my hair feels a little dry so I might add a little coconut oil or essential oils is that ok?
    Once again thank you I am realy happy with the results.

    • @BeautyFoodTips
      @BeautyFoodTips  Před 10 lety

      Hi Lea Wild this is just great news! happy to hear my experience turned useful to you! I'd advice you to avoid adding vegetable or essential oils as they may prevent the color from getting on to your hair. In order to avoid the dryness sensation, I can advice you 2 alternatives: instead of adding warm water to your henna mix, try adding flaxseeds gel (bit.ly/FlaxseedsBenefits ) just leave it less on the flame in order not to reach the gel consistency so that you can easily mix it with your henna herbs or consider making some hair masks in between the henna sessions. Just remember that it's said that oily hair masks tend to make the color go away from your hair...but you try it yourself & see which solution best fits your hair! Take care & thank you so much for sharing your henna experience with me! :)

      I will try the flaxseed mask.Incidently I have muesli for breakfast which I also add Linseed,sunflower & almond meal prepacked by Nutrivital in a 400gr pack that has been already been grinded I buy this from a healthfood shop.But you make an interesting point of being rancid even though I keep this in the fridge the linseed may have already been rancid before i bought it.
      Also i read somewhere else that coconut milk added to henna helps bring out the colour instantly but also is great for mosturising could i use warm coconut milk instead of warm water?
      Thanks Peter :)

    • @BeautyFoodTips
      @BeautyFoodTips  Před 10 lety

      Hi Peter, in order to make the flaxseed gel I'd recommend using whole flaxseeds not the grinder ones..also for a filtering issue as well. Well, you may absolutely try using coconut milk..see if & how it works for you..keep me posted! :)) Take care & good luck with your henna experiments!

    I have been using your pure henna on my grays for years. I have very dark brown hair and the covered grays are copper red. A lot of ppl think I have some red highlights but they don’t notice it right away. I get a lot of compliments and may hair is healthy. I didn’t like the color until all my previously dark golden brown dyed hair grey out. Then I was left with my rich dark brown virgin hair with some copper reddish highlights (the covered grays). That’s when it was rich and healthy and I really loved it.

    Thank you for this fabulous video filled with such great information. I have been detoxing my hair by No Pooing (no shampoo or conditioner) and using baking soda and apple cider vinegar. My hair is coming along after 3 weeks. I now want to stop using chemicals to color my grey hair and found this so helpful. I am a bit nervous to mess with my hair as I have been chemically coloring it for a very long time and want to make sure the henna is pure and the right ratio. My natural color is dark brown but has been chemically reddish for a long time. Fingers crossed I can figure it out. :) Great videos, website and personal journey.

    Katha, Indigo, Henna, for reddish brown to cover grey hair, more henna or 50℅ henna, 25℅ katha, 25℅ indigo, the katha overrides the orange in the henna, (katha/henna makes grey hair a coffee type colour). Henna mixed without the indgio, mixed indigo on its own with katha. Apply separately.

    Henna can create beautiful hair color, however, a word of caution; if you decide after using a henna hair color with metallic dye in it and then switch back to regular chemical dyes you risk breaking your hair off terribly as the chemical dye will weaken the hair strands when they make contact with the metallic dye. Always do a test strand in the back of your head first. I have been a licensed hair dresser for over 40 years. Be careful please.

      You know what is interesting with this … nobody ever considers heavy metal toxicity .. heavy metals also accumulate in the hair. Why people do hair testing. My hair can never withstand bleaching very well and I have naturally thick hair with different texture .. some Normal and other strands are extremely course.

      Hi Zarina Bouyer Well, you should already have some highlights due to your percentage of gray hair..I sure do, also because I have twice your percentage :)) Henna or the other herbal hair colors cannot highlight the hair, but you should note a light difference between your gray hairs and the non gray hairs..when you dye them they with henna they have different shades in the sun, don't they? :)

    great video! I really dislike the hinna's orange color, but the mix you made is so beautiful and your hair looks healthy too.
    I have curly hair and usually hinna makes my hair soft and shiny. but I once used katam long ago and I noticed that my hair got so dry and unhealthy. that's why i stopped.
    is your hair naturally soft? maybe that's why it wasn't effected.
    cause my hair is already damaged from hair dyes and as much as my hair likes hinna, i don't like the smell or the orange color.
    which is really bad since I am still young and i had premature grays since i was 13!

Please could you tell me a little more about the rinsing with vinegar that you mention near the end of the video? Does it matter what sort of vinegar and should the vinegar be diluted at all? Should I rinse the vinegar out with water immediately or leave it on for a few minutes? Also, I have bought some sidr. When would be the best time to use this after I dye my hair for the first time? Many thanks again :)

    • @BeautyFoodTips
      @BeautyFoodTips  Před 9 lety

      Hi Rachel Edwards , glad you reached out to me! Keep in mind that apple vinegar has a less strong scent than the other vinegars on the market. It absolutely has to be diluted, 1 spoon for 1l of cold water...use it as the last rinse on your hair, don't use othe water to rinse this mix off..You may use sidr instead of the shampoo to rinse away the henna treatment...but be prepared as it won't foam and it's not that easy to use, but the results are worth ;) Should you have other doubts make sure to check also my dedicated blog post: www.beautiliciousdelights.com/blogs/news/19101851-vademecum-erbe-tintorie-ed-henne-lawsonia-inermis! Great video, but I would like to know is it always you apply henna, wash it and than apply Indigo? or you can start with indigo first, wash it and than apply henna. And for how long you leave the indigo sit on your hair?

      Laura Ti Hi Laura, as I say in my video, I usually apply a mix of the 3 herbal hair powders. If you have grey hair and wish to obtain a dark brown / black color you should first apply lawsonia, and only afterwards indigo. You have to let them sit at least 4 hours :)

    Very well detailed video. Few questions for you. I have dark ends with 30 to 40 Grey on the top, what do I use to get your color.? You mixed like 3-4 types of henna. What are those shades. Another thing, I didn't understand, did you just wash your henna with water, do you oil it later to set the color on the hair?
    I have been using regular henna to cover grey which gives orange color. Nxxt day I use indigo to achieve dark shade . It takes a lot of time and energy get the color I want. Yours is one step process.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. What do you recommend to do about the gray hair between touch ups. I have dark hair and if I wait 3-4 weeks to color my hair, the gray is very noticeable (it is noticeable after 5 days). I have about 30-40 % gray. I know that if I color every week it gets too dark. Thank you!

      Same problem I have. I only touch up the roots 1-2cm, never go over the whole hair! Still I would like to have light brown, but it does not cover gray, it turns out red instead. So only dark brown covers gray successfully so far.

I want to try this on the white strands but I must admit I am still intimidated to try as I have never used dyes of any kind before. It seems so difficult. I wanted to ask if it is safe to use henna while I'm pregnant, or should I wait until after my pregnancy?

    Hello, I have a black hair w/ gray hair, maybe 40 to 50 % already, I want to cover up my gray hair but its a long process of making Henna paste first then after it the Indigo. I just want to ask, could i just used one preparation. Can i just mixed Henna & Indigo together..? I don't know how much Henna & Indigo should i used. I have a shoulder length thin hair. My second questions, Is it okay if I used only an Indigo powder just to cover up my gray hair ...? I have also hairloss, do you think it would not damage more my hair...?

How do i fix this problem I used BAQ henna, hot distilled water, tea or lemon juice or aloe vera juice because the stain is darker because of the acid and let it dye release for 5 hours and sleep in it overnight and rinse with water deep condition to moisturize the hair style and air dry I don't know what i'm doing wrong ?? oh I see...Sandhya Gopal. 3 days is ok..you may try waiting some more time to see if it makes a difference. You may apply the herbal hair colors as often as you'd like, there are no downsides if not eventually drying a little bit your lengths...but if you're applying it only on the regrowths where you have the grey you won't have this downside..

      Hi kangsmn, I am glad you're ready to give henna a go. I'm pretty much sure you'll fall in love. I did share on my blog the percentages of henna I use. Check it here: bit.ly/HennaDye. Copy - paste from my post on the blog: "I use a 25% cassia obovata, 25% lawsonia inermis and 50% katam to cover my grey roots while on my ends I lower the percentage of lawsonia inermis as the ends are already dyed". I did not provided exact grams of henna because that actually depends on how thick & long your hair is. Keep in mind that you'll have to personalize the above percentages according to your natural hair color. Let me know if I can be of further help. Much love, Rozalia

    • @BeautyFoodTips
      @BeautyFoodTips  Před 9 lety

      Hi monica joy, you may try using cassia but remember that cassia does not dye or cover grey hair. The only 100% natural hair dye is lawsonia and the shades on grey hair after application are orange / reddish.
      Dark haired blondes use cassia mixed with katam to obtain a dark blonde color. Katam on grey hair results in a greyish shade. In case you decide to go for this I strongly recommend you first make some trials on some hidden strands of hair or hair from your comb. I am sorry I cannot be of more help, but blonde ladies do not have as much choice when going natural :(. If you need other suggestions, pls feel free to reply. Hugs, Rozalia

      @BeautyFoodTips  Před 10 lety +1

      Hi Grubby Newton , actually the most important thing in the transition is to make sure your henna is 100% pure so that the risk to end up with green hair is equal to zero. I applied my first henna treatment after 2 weeks from my last commercial dye. Nothing bad happened as my henna was 100% pure therefore the result was a nice chestnut..obviously the first months there were some differences between my roots and the lengths, but in time the difference was covered. Hope this helps, take care! :)) Rozalia

    wowwww... lovely info.thanks a ton...!!! I've used henna alone before but I didn't like the orange tint tht was on my hair.. specifically roots. so I started using hair color n I think its damaging my hair I'm thinking to go natural with henna n indigo. but how often do u use it as roots start to grow??

      :)) +Swati Rajput You may use it as soon as the regrowth can be seen...that means every 3-4 weeks..

      aww..thank you so so much..you're lucky then to have a fast regrowth :)) then you'd have to make them every 2 weeks, but your hair will love it as it will make it stronger & healthier :)

    Hi! You said not to wash your hair after the henna is rinsed out! I didn't understand what you said to use instead of shampoo it sound like you said vinegar

      Hi jh878745. It would be better if you can avoid using shampoo when rinsing out the herbal hair colors, but if one get itchy scalp after the application it would be better to use shampoo anyway :) You may use diluted vinegar to rinse.

    Hello! This is a great tutorial. I'm used to the two step henna process. Is it correct that you're mixing the lawsonia (red) WITH the katam (indigo) for a one step process? Thanks!
