    I’ve always said these cars are something special!!! One of the biggest weak points tho is the suspension department! These things handle like a boat in the ocean! The most noticeable thing you can do to the suspension is subframe connectors,sway bars,and coil over,,,oh and a nice panhard bar for the tax

      I still own my 95 Cobra...but threw a stroked, supercharged, 347 in it in 2001. She is finally getting “restored” this year after spending the last 20 years as a garage queen. ☺️

    It’s definitely not impossible to find these for cheap, I just picked up a 97 cobra convertible for $4,000. Low miles, runs perfect. Only issues are that there’s something going on with the drivers seat because it doesn’t move like it’s supposed to, and there’s a leak at the rear window. Upgrading the console to the 98 style (for the cup holders, it’s a way better design. I don’t think anyone wants the ash tray that’s in the 97 and older models) and the new top is on its way here, plus a custom made sub box is being built as we speak. Already has a CAI and a complete borla exhaust in it, sounds absolutely killer. Plans are to eventually either twin turbo or supercharge it

    I'm glad to see the 96-98 Cobra get some love. I bought a 92k mile 96 that rolled off a hauler and hit a sign for $1400. Come to find out it has a Promotion trans, 4.10's, headers, exhaust and such. Has 18 FR500's, FR500 steering wheel, BMR suspension and the SVT build certificate was even in the glove box. I bought it for parts but fell in love drifting and whipping donuts with no front clip. So I resurrected her with a factory Cobra hood and front fascia off Clist for $400 and she's been a blast to rip on. Best $2k I've ever spent on a car.

      Thats awesome! These cars honestly handle tremendously out of the box. The only caveat to my videos would be if your schedule and budget allow (lead times were an issue for me) consider going with coilovers. By aligning the shock over the strut you can run much lower spring rates in the front for an identical wheel rate meaning your ride quality will improve

      456 for na all day without question i would go 4.10 if its supercharged these things have long gears and a high redline NEVER FEAR THE GEAR with a 4v ecspecially an early b headed 4v theyre gutless down low but 456s turn them into a beast and really wakes em up. I made the mistake going 4.10 on my old 97 worrying it would be "too low" because like everyone else i was thinking with conventional thinking like a normal 2v or pushrod 5.0. That goes right out the window with the 4v cars dont fear the gear is the saying for a reason learn from others mistakes lol

      WN jules they are definitely fun cars. I had an 04 GT when i was coming out of high school. Be careful though! The older Mustangs dont have traction or stability control and enough power to get you in trouble if you arent careful. You will love it though. Best of luck

    • @tywarren4704
      @tywarren4704 Před 4 lety +1

      @@jerryhorton8771 The Teksid ran from 93-98 in the Lincoln Mark VIII, and from 96-99, and half of the '01 production year in the Cobra's before Ford officially switched over to the aluminum WAP block which isn't as strong. You can tell if you have the Teksid by the casting pattern in the block valley. Teksid's will have a square casting pattern, WAP's are diamond.

      @@truckandroll989 i havent seen your other videos yet but if you want to know a cheap way to gain a lot of power for these, get 99-01 Continental heads. theyre cheap C heads and use them with your 96-98 cams. ive seen people with longtubes and ported c head intake push 350 whp na. of course that is a bit of work swapping heads but it gives you options down the road like termi blower setups or etc

      I had one right out of high school. They are a ton of fun, not terribly fast (so its a bit harder to get yourself into too much trouble), sound fantastic, and old enough that you will
      Have plenty to work on. Id say its a great first car. It is a shame that Camaros arent cheaper though because the LS motors are easier to modify and repair should something major break.

    I bought my white 97 Cobra for $2500. It had about 120k on it but ran good.
    My dad told me to baby it and enjoy it. Instead I threw on a nitrous kit and went racing.
    Only engine problems I've ever had were IMRC issues- I did go through several T45s before having one built.
    Mine has about 160k on it now and has been incredibly fun! It went 11.6 in the 1/4 on Hoosiers. Now I have it set up for autocross.
