The IL-2 was a favorite to fly for the group back in the early days of War Thunder. We thought we would break the old IL-2 and see how she fairs into today's War Thunder.

War its much more easier when flying in team. I still often smoke a lot of planes in early il-2s both in air and ground battles, gotta play it in low attitudes though
The Il-2 is best played with a squad.
Dan The Man anything in war thunder is best played in squad with VOIP, takes the game to a whole new level
I recommend you fly in at about 2k meters and go headon with everyone you see. I use that "tactic" in the IL-2 (1942) and those 23s rip stuff apart. 6 kills my first game, 5 kills in the second. It's good fun. Although you have to be careful - there's a lot of 2.7 Jap Corsair players. They're always level 100s sweating their asses off.
I play solo in my IL-2(1942)/2M type 3 and I've gotten multiple aces just this week
I misread the title thinking it was a IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad match. So when clicked on it, I was so confused to why War Thunder was playing.

Man, you did work on the enemy team in that first match. You got an ace and then some. People always underestimate how powerful the IL-2's frontal armament is.
I've said it for years now, but the IL2 is the best Dogfighter. It can drift if you hit a turn right and I love it.
When u mentioned this video in a stream the other day and when I saw this posted, for some odd reason I thought it was a video in the IL-2 game, not flying the IL-2 in War Thunder, lol

12:20 Me and a squad mate put our entire cannon load into a B-34 when we played out the Bf109 E3 (got that sexy Swiss skin) and he refused to die. It took the rest of our 7.92's into his engines to down it...

Have you tried flying in Heroes & generals? they have 5 planes per faction nowadays instead of the old 1 plane per faction. incl. the ME 410 B-2 where a squadmember can take the Gunner seat

I think War Thunder has cemented the IL-2 as my favorite Russian plane of all time. Heavy and sturdy, yet sleek and powerful. Such a beautiful plane, and all of that ordnance makes you feel like you can take on the whole German army AND the Luftwaffe on the way back to the airfield.

Il-2 is mega stronk i have nearly gotten ace with the 1942 i always get 4 kills and then i lose my prop engine or elevators and i end up getting a kill assist just before i die

I just got me a model of this plane and its a bit weird. for the model it doesn't tell you to put the red stars on top of the wings. But here they did. then i looked up Soviet aircraft of WW2 and it showed those with the red stars on the top of the wings and other without

@@arcticwolf3279 Damage models in the game fade from White-Yellow-Orange-Red-Black, each representing a level of damage. Generally in a plane a red engine will turn black on its own, and a red cannon breach in a tank will blow up.

Hey guys, I’m wanting to try out war thunder, and was wondering which tech tree I should start with, and which country.
Soviet Russia make best planes No alternative. Reserve planes very maneuverable . Carry twice firepower as other trees. I-16s hold their own at 1.7.Shoot down many capitalist swine. Center mounted 20 millimeter at 2-2.3b.r. on lagg and yak. I-153 is best plane 1.7. Also comrade, state provided Russian bias.
