Conteh was a great boxer. His problem was he came to his peak around the same time as Matthew Saad Muhammad. In those days fighters were not as protected. In this era Conteh would reign for a long time without bumping into MSM
I read Chris Finnegan's book years ago, I wished I'd kept it. he said that John Conteh nutted him in both fights, his nickname for him was pickle head. both were great fighters but Conteh was on the way up.
Just finished finnegans book and am half way through Contehs. Finnegan certainly feels hard done by with a few butt's in both fights but Conteh shrugs it of as part of the fight game...
