Always thought the Gen7 chassis was a good start for a performance based crawler. Finally took my Pro apart, trying to work in some Gen8 portals. Really nice mods!

It is a great platform to start w/ especially at the 200$ mark. I’ve really put it to the test over the years. Axles weren’t very scale but other than that it is great!

Do those axles just bolt straight on or did you have to make modifications?
Just had to move the links a little to get everything lined up and straight. No mods needed, holes already there to adjust links. 🤙
I took my springs off the stock shocks but the chassis sits on the servo link so one side droops lower than the other. How did you do yours?
I have metal Capra portals so maybe my servo sits lower in the axle? Not sure but mine doesn’t hit anywhere. 👍
Which model exactly did you start with? When i search for Gen7 a lot of different versions come up
I used the base Gen7 model. The cheapest one. Has a lot of adjustability and the shocks on mine were tuned beautifully! 🤘
