I remember when Tekken 4 came out. I was 16 and as soon as I saw Jin do his 1, 2, 3, natural I was like, "waitaminute! I KNOW this style!" I've been doing Kyokushin since I was 6. Stopped training intesively around 19 when I got into Muay Thai and Krav Maga (I went into the military after high school) but Kyokushin has always been my base style. I'm 35 now and have dabbled to various degrees in Silat, JKD, Systema, Wing Chun, and BJJ, but Kyokushin will always hold a special place in my heart.

Ryu and Ken’s fighting style is also based on Kyokushin thanks to some sources. Even Akuma is based on Mass Oyama. And Ryu based on one of his former students. Plus Ken uses the Do Mawashi Kaiten Geri as well as the Axe Kick. Plus Sean (being is student) uses those same moves.
But Jin’s is more accurate to Kyokushin than any character in fighting games. He is text book Kyokushin.

Rolling thunder? Biggest reason is it hits hard, the torque involved puts the entire weight of the body into the heal. Second is its a downwards cut, most kickboxing systems dont do downwards cuts because it requires a lot of execution for high risk. Its also evasive, you cant really punch someone in the face or liger while they are doing a somersault. Its high risk high reward, if it doesnt hit youve put yourself at serious disadvantage esp in MMA, but if it hits, youre almost 80% guaranteed a KO.
