  • With glazing you can alter dried colors. You can change the color temperature slightly or increase/decrease contrasts. You can also use glazing to give your painting a uniform look.

Welcome to the channel! Just to be sure: I guess you mean that you've subscribed to the youtube channel right? Because at this moment I don't have any paid membership, courses or websites or something like that (I ask just to be sure). I'm glad that you find the videos helpful, enjoy painting! 👍👍👍

Hi Toon, thank you for an incredibly illuminating demonstration of glazing. I have never seen a handle-less hairdryer like the one you are using; do you mind sharing the manufacturer of the dryer. Thank yo again.

It's a very old one, and I don't know if it's a Dutch brand or something, but reading in between all the paint stains I can see it's a: BaByliss B13😂👍

Hi Toon, One more question on the subject of mediums - have you ever use d air-brush medium- and if so, what do you think and how would you use it? Thank you. From Seattle, WA. USA. If you ever do 'membership' please let me know.

I'm sorry, I've never used it myself, but it's great for making your paint very fluid and very transparant. I think it's sometimes used for pouring techniques as well. There are a lot of different kind of mediums available and they all have their own characteristics. The medium used in this video is what you could call a 'standard' medium, it's not thick and not thin, somewhere in between. For glazing there are also very specific mediums (glazing medium), they are a little more fluid and often retarders are added to increase the drying time slightly (depends on brand). Pouring mediums are very very fluid and conversely there are also mediums to make the paint thicker.

Does light travel into multiple layers of glazing and back out to optically make a colour, say for an iridescent effect ?

Yes, that certainly can happen with glazing. I must say that I personally don't use the technique that much, but I've seen very special effects in work of others, but of course it's only visible when you see the real work of art.
