  • This is Steven Chong of the Tokyo Aquascaping Union (TAU in JPN) and The Aquascaper's Collective (TAC in N America). This video goes through an analysis of my World Rank 5 International Aquatic Plant Layout Contest (IAPLC) submission from 2018. How I pieced my inspiration into design, what intentions I had, feelings I had, and how this layout functions.

If you would like Steven to help/advise on your layout in a future video, leave a URL to a photograph in the comments! Thank you in advance for sharing your work!
Even better if you can talk about your goals for the scape. ;)

Good job Steven. This helps a lot. Makes me really understand when you tell me "Whats the story" I understand now.

Thanks David! Makes sense, sometimes a concrete example can be more useful than explaining a concept. I'll have to remember that...

This is awesome! Amazing scape, thank you for talking us through it. Got to say, your concept art is also really good too!
I'm totally new to aquasacping, I've been binge watching hours of videos for months trying to build up the courage to get started. It would be awesome to share my first scape (when I eventually do it) with you and get critiqued. It'd be just like being back at art school 😂 thanks again 🙏

Hey Steve, so I've been drawing a few layouts and have begun to settle on one of them. Are you sure you'd like to have a look? I don't have the same draftsmanship skills as you nor a full grasp on layouts, however, I would be honoured to start a dialogue so long as I'm not a nuisance! I have a Marina Vue 60 (basic start up kit) and have been keeping fish for only 14 months. I'm planning on getting CO2 but currently only have room for an internal filter (Fluval U2). Here's a link to the layout and I invite you to take a look. Again, no pressure to feedback. I did draw plants on this layout but my skills only went as far as making it look like Hulk sneezed in the tank, so I've turned off those layers. drive.google.com/file/d/1FZoW7xfO2209EZ5gayLCikIew0KjSmmI/view Thank you, again, for your time.
