ofcourse it does work, BUT the problem is there will be vlan mismatch. If you correct the vlan mismatch error then there will be no way the ping will be successful. in a production environment you will not be allowed to ignore the error. %CDP-4-NATIVE_VLAN_MISMATCH: Native VLAN mismatch discovered on FastEthernet0/1 (20), with Switch FastEthernet0/1 (10). But your explanation is amzaing. thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. The vlan mismatch occurs because of the CDP feature enabled. If that is disabled, then you will not see it.
If you need the CDP to be working, then you need to have the same vlans on both sides
