They're killer guitars. I have the NJ Strat type and its one of my most dependable touring guitars. It's rock solid and insane value for the money!
The strats are normal, but the Teles are all stupidly heavy for some unknowable reason. I can't find one on Sweetwater that's below 8 lbs. Swing and a miss, I'm not buying a tele until they get a new batch of alder.
@guyincognito320 I love stupidly heavy teles though. But the Korean made pt special with the P90s are weight relieved and have comfort cuts. I live the Korean schecters, but just got the indo one because I like the heavier tele
I have a PT Special, love that guitar! I changed the bridge because I hate ashtray’s. Put in an audio pot for the volume (not sure why they don’t come with one). Sounds amazing. I’m a stock pickup swapper, but I’m not going to on that guitar, they sound fantastic. Schecter is making some amazing guitars for regular guitarist’s.
Hello, "Put in an audio pot for the volume (not sure why they don’t come with one)." - I am a newbie here and didn't understand this part. What do you mean you had to put a an audio pot? The middle not is not for the volume? If you have time, appreciate the feedback. Cheers
I found one on Reverb ($667 total) and am looking forward to getting it. I'm going to play SONGS on mine.
Sweet, Schecter always have rocked - ask Townshend 🎸🌟
I've always binned them off thinking they're just metal guitars... I think I need to reassess
Schecter's specs are nothing like PRS. 14" radius, roasted maple, thin neck shape, satin finish, and the spokewheel truss rod are specs that PRS just doesn't do often, if at all on the non-signature production models.
Another great video and a lovely guitar! It’s maybe worth buying a wider strap for! Also.. Prince was really strong.
I live over in Indonesia and have an Indonesian made Yamaha Revstar Standard. It’s wonderful quality and has a chambered body. These Schecters are also made in Indonesia. They should maybe also do a chambered body to save on the weight? The Revstar has a really intricate chambered lay out which has been calculated using acoustic research, which definitely gives it fantastic tone. It not like the Les Paul chambering which is literally just a load of bore holes to get rid of the most wood! It wouldn’t be a problem for the manufacturers here. Nice thing over here is the Indonesian made range of guitars from the big names are half price of what they retail for in Europe. My Revstar was literally half the price of back home in UK. Just checked, and sure enough, these Schecters are almost half the price here compared to back home. A grand for a guitar of this quality is a bargain. 500 quid for a new guitar of this quality is insane!😎
Never ever wanted a T-style guitar in my life until I saw and heard this model back in May. Bought one (atomic ink), it's amazing.
Just ordered! How is the neck pickup? Some people are saying it's quite dark.
@joebranston6330 check demos by Darrell Braun, Rhythm and Beard, etc.. I would say darker than a standard tele but not muddy. I like being able to do a round jazz tone in humbucker mode, then tapped coil for bluesy stuff.
Ah nice, so you're happy with the split coil tone then?
Yes, very happy, though of course it's all subjective. The tones are what made me pull the trigger ultimately. Telecasters are traditionally thought of as the jack of all trades of electric guitars. This model takes that concept and adds another sound to it, neck humbucker
And of course Nick made the neck single a bit beefier which appeals to me
I played a NJ signature strat (schecter) a few years ago and I STILL think about that guitar. It played so good and sounded so nice. I'm sure this tele is cut from the same cloth.
I also played this guitar last year and then brought another one, I also still think about think about this one…. I made the wrong choice 😢
There are a few guitars that still haunt me as well... I remember a LeClair Guitars Strat I played in Florida years ago that I still think about.
It's a wonderful guitar, as is the S-type Nick Johnston. The weight and the lack of any cut-aways (the latter of which may have helped the former) are the only slight downsides for me, but they were not deal breakers. That said, I'm tempted to refinish it and if I do, I may have someone far more talented than me add some contours. We'll see. FWIW, I have seen them at 8 to 8.2 pounds, so if you keep an eye out you might get lucky. The s-types are much lighter, also, though of course they are quite different. :)
Hi this Tele is weight relieved? Or it have wood under the pickguard?
Skip to 9:40 It weighs 4.09 kg. That is the rub.
Great video man!
Cheers mate! Keep doing what you're doing
I tried this out at a Sam Ash in NYC and wow!! It is amazing!! 899.00??? What a bang for your buck. It truly is amazing!!
They're great value for money!
Under $650 USD Sire T7 for the win !
Very interested in this T style. Would change the pots for 300k as soon as posible as I get one.
Would that help with high-end on the humbucker?
@@JacksonBrooksby
It would but Is not an extreme change. That’s the problem sometimes with the configuration single coil + Humbucker. It would help the humbucker but it would make the single coils more bright. But you can tame it by rolling the tone down. The main reason I prefer the 300k is to be sure that I’m getting the full 250k that single coil normally use.
Any idea if you could swap the humbucker for a standard tele neck pickup?
I'd imagine you can. There's enough space for it and you'd probably just have to swap the pot. Looks like a Telecaster pickguard would fit too.
Hello, thanks for the video! Is the string tree original or its one from Graphtec? If from GT, can you name the model and tell if the screw included is a direct fit to the guitar hole? Thank you in advance
Yes the string tree is Graphtec and I know it comes with a screw included. I didn’t fit it though
So I’ve had that exact model for almost a year.
It’s a wonderful axe.
My only complaints: the electronics are a tad noisy, and the neck pickup is a tad muddy.
It’s really hard to beat for the money. It has a fantastic neck, great tuners and an awesome feel…this is coming from a PRS guy.
Nice. Do you find that you use the humbucker split?
@@joebranston6330 sorry I missed this! I used the split a little, it definitely cleared the neck pup up. I ended up trading the guitar in for my Les Paul, but that was more about personal preference!
@timholtguitar6999 no worries, I bought the guitar in the end and love it - I use it more than my LP to be honest!
But when you roll down the volume you lose high end😢
Great guitar and player. I just ordered a used one for cheap. This came up in my feed. The only thing I don't get: Why in the hell did Nick Johnson allow his sig to have PT in the name? So it's a Nick Johnson Pete Townsend signature model?
Thanks dude! Hope you dig it
That’s a great looking T-style guitar. Sorry if I missed you saying this-where are these made?
@ $899, I'd imagine Indonesia. Although I personally prefer Korean made schecters
They are indeed crafted in Indonesia
@@JacksonBrooksby Shame about the weight lol. I came across a listing on sweetwater couple of months ago that weighed 6.3 lbs!
@42ronty that’s incredibly light!
@@JacksonBrooksby I know right? I remember coming across an example, which was a swamp ash blonde tele that was 6 lbs on the dot! Unfortunately, it was fender custom shop and north of 4k! 😂
6:22 - "Burp".
I’d change the ashtray and have 6 vintage brass saddles installed.
Why the FUCK slimer neck? How soft is that move? Would have been the Perfect Tele? Seriously WTF ?
Come on Schecter, crap headstock design - give it some style, please!
Huh? It's the same a Suhr.
@@thesmellycatjazz Exactly! Surely they can come up with something more distinctive?
But when you roll down the volume you lose high end😢
