- The year the teens take over and 80s 'new pop' is born with Depeche Mode, the teen-fronted Human League, Kim Wilde and Duran Duran all debuting, while Ultravox and Visage master the art of pop videos. The show embraces the shift with a new theme tune and titles and, as Legs and Co leave, invite a swathe of club kids and cheerleaders in to create a permanent 80s party atmosphere. Britain is torn between rioting, unemployment and the royal wedding, a mood captured in the Specials' Ghost Town, which the band perform on Top of the Pops, and then promptly split up in their dressing room at Television Centre.
Sue Menhenick..ahhhhhh.. my absolute pinup of my adolescent years... a true beauty then & now :)
She was always my fave, as a young adolescent.
And yes, she does still look great (or did in 2016). I'm sure hasn't changed that much in 5 years.
- I still could!!!
Mine too. I was 14 in 1977 and totally in love with Sue Mehenrick.
Sue Menhenick - magnificent !!
Sue was absolutely lovely and what a fantastic dancer.
Beautiful, sexy and, in my opinion, still is!!!
was always my favourite
I totally agree with you. I was 14 years old in 1977 and totally in love with Sue. Thursday Night when TOTP was on telly was the only night I didn't see my girlfriend. @@antonystringfellow5152
GOD, I've just fallen back in love with Sue.
She still looks great, doesn't she?
Sue, still gorgeous.
How very true. I was 14 in 1977 and fell in love with Sue.
legs and co..simply the best!!
only to Pans People.
No just to everygroup
Last performance to the Birdy song, that really was a sad farewell.
I didn't know anyone who thought that Zoo and a studio full of posers was an improvement.
Thankfully, Music videos were the new thing and shows like the Tube came along.
Totp's slow death began here, a shame really, when the Eighties had so much great music to offer.
Couldn't agree more!
I stopped watching the video at the transition. That's when the program died for me.
Sue was always my fave, she was so naturally cute and had great charisma x
Mine too. I saw a photo with her and her husband and they have a Boxer dog just like me. I knew I made the right choice with her!
Great days. The world has gone mad now and is inverted
Sue, well worth the few seconds she was on, as for the rest, yaawwwnnn.
The only good thing about Zoo was that me and my mates stopped watching TOTP and got out earlier.
No more wanking then?
Speak for yourself
ah sue I love you xxx
Get in line mate!
Sue, such pulchritude ♥️♥️♥️💙💙💙...
Recordar es vivir, solo morimos cuando olvidamos . Excelente .
Getting rid of legs & co was the beginning of the end for Top of the Pops. I wonder which overpaid executive came up with that stupid idea.
I was on top of the pops with her 1981. I was playing drums in a band . She was my favourite.
i think SUE was by far the sexyest of the dances but dont understand why in a lot of the routines she was at the back she was my first crush and had a loverly loverlly pair of legs miss u SUE X
carl carder I thought the opposite. I think Sue was the best and generally got more camera time.
Sue was a top dancer on the show along with another couple of girls. But Sue was unique in that she participated in 3 of TOTPs dance groups: Pans People, Ruby Flipper, and eventually Legs & Co.
I don't see the point in complaining that people are watching Legs & Co's performance in the studio, when millions of people will be watching it at home anyway. I would imagine the choreographer would have come up with the costumes. I can't imagine Top of the Pops telling them what they should wear.
Yes Flick devised the choreography and the costumes. Flick, a dancer herself, did a great job of either, considering the very short time she often had to work in. Accusations that L & Co were led to be depravely provocative was nonsense. They managed themselves as professionals and only did what they themselves wanted to do. The fact that they were sexy at the same time was to their added advantage.
When I Look Back at those days emoji is gone buy I was in the Prime of my life a young man with not a clue but the best thing on a Thursday night with watching top of pops and watching legs and co do their best as young man you could knew you would never meet them in the flash unless you were lucky to be on Top of the Pops but the funny thing is you always went out with girls who look like them without thinking Top of the Pops let us all out to dress and had to dance or to do better realistically everybody is a show-off and loves to party in those days everybody was happy and look forward to the Friday night Saturday night out partying life seemed easier and simple then where did it all go wrong at least I have got some happy memories I'm having forgotten the good times thanks to legs and co on Top of the Pops xxxxxxxxxx
I all ways thought sue was a happy smiley person ,and I know some of us go through trials and tortures, and experiences bad +good .but I get a very strong feeling that she as been, or is going through some kind of unhappy episode , its just the look and to me she appears very different to when she seemed that happy relaxed sexy dancer
terence barrett Sue was my favourite. I'm sure I read somewhere that she had some kind of painful joint condition and she was always battling this to keep on dancing. If this is so, I wonder if it got the better of her eventually?
Sue😍
So 1981 is when the rot really set in.
michael hurll killed TOTP, he was middle aged and had no fucking idea
it went from spontaneous fun to contrived cringe
2:27 Thank God. If this was the only place for it on tv, then it was important it existed.
Rosie......😍😍😍😔
Legs and co we’re classy ladies ..hot gossip were trashy ....
Sue I still love you 😍
Yes she was my favorite out of all of them I love watching her on Rick Dee disco duck she’s the one in the green boots she had the best moves
sad that the girls were gone :'(
Rosie Hetherington was the best looking by a mile.xxxx
Sue, my dream girl😍
do you think that girl is a Marc bolan look alike
Black male dancers? Carrie must have completely forgotten about Ruby Flipper
How appalling ... ❤😂 Get out of my. Chair ❤
3:33 Is that Rosie?
Wasn't that Hot Gossip? It wasn't Rosemary, anyway.
The birth of the video age killed Legs & Co. As for "Zoo", I didn't even know they had a name. I just saw them as a bunch of irrelevant professional dancers.
Zoo were shxt
Bad move with this crap.
The audience where T O T P, with a slot by legs and co. It certainly started dying when they set on a bunch of posers. I stopped watching then. Great music crap show
Zoo were crap..... one of the earliest examples of go woke, go broke.
Sue was by far the best dancer
All the girls were very good but Patti was the one with the most experience having trained in classical ballet. She was a ballerina. Sorely missed!
What horrible down-grade from Pans People, Ruby Flipper, and Legs & Co. People just seem to have ran out of taste and style by 1981.
