Everyone says that Russians are very closed off people, but what I can see from the videos, everyone is very open about their personal life, how they look, how they feel. They all seem to have an opinion about anything and everything haha. That's a plus.

I dont believe this particulate issue is antirussian. I am convinced that there were plenty of people who refused to talk to him, he simply cut it all off and found the most nicest and positive ones to talk to. So in reality many russians, specially men, can be cold and anti-social, noticeably more anti-social than in western countries.

I’m surprised that by the way they speculate and act is very similar to us swedes. They are humble and honest, I like it. I wish our countries were closer actually, I didn’t know this was how Russians act/think because when they speak English it isn’t as clear.
as a native Russian speaker, I can say that it is often more difficult for us to express our thoughts and feelings in English (to be honest, I don’t even know what this may be connected with, but I can assume that due to insufficient knowledge of the language, or - because it is more difficult to find words due to their absence in English)

А мне кажется, что так обстоят дела с любым человеком, который говорит на иностранном языке - не только когда русские говорят на английском, но и когда немец говорит на английском или на испанском, он тоже не до конца сможет себя выразить. В русских фильмах иностранцы, когда говорят на русском языке, часто кажутся безэмоциональными, как роботы.
Возможно это связано с тем, что на разговор на иностранном языке тратится много энергии, и на выражение эмоций энергии уже не хватает.
Но это скорее всего не касается людей, которые десятки лет живут в другой стране, у них думаю хорошо получается передать эмоции на неродном языке.

I was married to a Russian girl for more than 2 decades. Slavic women are some of the most beautiful in the world. She never needed makeup. The gal at 38 seconds in the left reminds me of her. Breaks my heart that she says she’s ugly. Not even close. Dark hair, large piercing blue eyes and adorable blush.

However, my opinion and experience suggests that beauty does not matter, but it is important to be well-groomed or well-groomed (clean hair, clean body, combed hair, use cosmetics correctly if this is a lady). I want to add something else to my last comment. A few years back l was visiting with relatives in North Eastern Poland, from a branch of the family l see less often. It was New Years eve and we were having a great time eating, dancing and catching up in between. One of my brothers in law, whose wife is an absolutely stunningly beautiful woman, extremely bright and yet so down to earth, very friendly, kind hearted, a very decent person in every way, but still, to me because of that beauty, caused me to be shy when wanting to strike up a conversation. I mentioned this to my B-i-L, ( l should add, quite handsome in his own right ) who nodded and said he understood. Then he told me that Polish men are very shy towards beautiful women, admitting that he had great difficulty approaching his wife to start a conversation and to ask her out for a date. I found this impossible to believe, but he said it was true. Later that week, back with my closest relatives (emotionally speaking, in terms of their being the innermost circle of my support system) l asked my nephew if it was true that even handsome Polish men were shy and he too nodded yes. He's a very good looking, has a beautiful wife and one of the most precociously bright and superbly well mannered son; everything that might cause a person to feel self confident. He is a hair stylist with his own shop and routinely has drop dead gorgeous female clients who step into his place to have their hair done. I mean so intensely beautiful you have to wonder why they're not in Paris or Milan making huge sums of money from modeling. (I would imagine that they are so intelligent that they would consider it demeaning.) But my says he has to work hard to overcome his shyness and carry on a conversation with them.
I suppose there are some things l will never understand, but l never thought this would be one of them. Ah.... the mystery of Slavic women!

@@SashaFujiwara it depends on where in Austria you live😆 In the cities, there are definitely also some VERY ugly communism-style concrete blocks in areas full of concrete and no trees, and you live there like sardines. I've lived in such a building and district for 27yrs (with 52 neighbouring appartments in my building) - it downright gives you depression, especially since those people there also don't follow the rules and e.g. drill into a wall on a public holiday or Sunday, and you have to pay the fines for their incorrect garbage disposal... Wished I could've lived on the countryside that you see on the internet.👍

As a girl, I can say that in our country, appearance is very important. Social networks impose beauty standards and therefore Russian girls may have complexes. Often very beautiful girls are very complex about their appearance (overweight and so on). Yes, it is important that a person has a beautiful soul, but even here the one who has a lot of money or will be handsome will be more in demand. There are those who are not complex at all and love themselves, which is cool, but I saw a lot of pretty girls with very low self-esteem. And it's sad, it's just important for girls to compliment and say that they are beautiful! Especially for those who need this praise.

I'm not a teenager, but if I was asked that on the street I would definitely say I'm a 0 or a 4, I don't consider myself ugly, in fact I'm quite striking, but that's the catch, putting it up on social media so people will comment that you're arrogant. No matter what they say, people love people who feel inferior to others.

I love my language, but mostly for its architecture and how it is built and I do always understand why people might think it sounds ugly. As a French speaker I can give you my personal answer 😇 I started to learn Russian 4 years ago, by myself and then at university, because I always love the sounds but also because I was very curious to learn this complex language. I think your language is very beautiful to hear, and I like to struggle when I learn it 😂 It took me 2 days to learn the Cyrillic alphabet, I remember that I could read Russian without understand it at first. I think the issue is that admitting that you're attractive is looked down upon - you're not supposed to say it out loud, a good self-esteem makes people uncomfortable and they're more comfortable when others are self-deprecating cause then 1. It makes people feel better about themselves and their own insecurities and 2. it's the people who decide that that person undervalues themselves and is actually attractive as if they're giving their permission. If you say you're a 10 people will go "do you really think you're as attractive as supermodels or famous actresses?", If you say you're an 8 people will say you're just average. If you're attractive and say you're a 6 or lower then people will go oh no you're so beautiful, have some self esteem! I think that you are simply not used to their appearance, so you enjoy looking at faces that are atypical for the place where you live. I am Russian, and of course I know how beautiful our girls are, but I take it calmly, because I'm already used to it. But when I go on trips, I enjoy looking at people of other nationalities, and I find literally everyone attractive. When I was in the United States, it took a tremendous effort to force myself not to stare at others, because there is a wide racial diversity that we are not used to in Russia. The same thing happened to me in Japan. It is incredibly interesting to admire people of a different race and notice their beauty.

Native populations displaced from cities and even small towns. Culture destroyed. Communities divided. Home ownership impossibly expensive for most people. Healthcare systems in total collapse (3 weeks wait for a doctor's appointment in the UK). Food and energy prices at record highs. Birth rates continuing to fall, accelerated by all these problems. It is the same all over Western Europe and Scandinavia (although I believe some places like Denmark are finally attempting to reverse this decline).

Oh yeah, tottaly agree. You remember when a bunch of dictators ruled over europe during ww2 period and after? Yeah, that kind of looks like Russia today. Except for the fact that Putin is far, far more coward (as proven by the "coup"), but just as bloodthirsty and just as those dictators he desires for power.
I understand that Europe has its own problems, but sometimes it really pisses me off that some people just don't appreciate something they were gifted with, you have freedom, you have actual elections, you have democracy, you don't have a coward sitting on the throne and ruling your country.
I'd also like to mention, that Russia has some of the problems you've listed:
1) We also have thousands of imigrants, mostly from Central Asia, as you said, they're basiclly providing cheap labour, but I rather feel bad for them.
2) Due to inflation, owning a home is expensive as hell too. Around 8mil rubles for an average apartment (about 3 rooms, in a major city), when average salary is (differs from a job ofc,) but I'd say around 50,000 a month in a city like Spb or Moscow.
3) Low fertility rates are present here too. It's been going down since 1991.
4) Russia (USSR mostly thought) also had native populations displaced, mostly not russian thought. Example : during the period of collectivization in the Soviet Union, enforced under Stalin between 1928 and 1940, the Soyot and other Siberian inhabitants were forced into a settled way of life with socialistic enterprises replacing reindeer husbandry. The Soyots were moved to Sorok, Khurga, Bokson and Orlik -wiki. And there's many more examples. Alr, I think I'm done. Have a nice day.
