- A powerful rendition of the Phantom of the Opera title song by Sierra Boggess as Christine and Ramin Karimloo as the phantom. Play it loud!
Performed at the Royal Albert Hall on 2nd October 2012 at the Classic BRIT Awards and broadcast on ITV1 HD on 7 October 2012. - Hudba
My toxic trait is thinking I can do this song with no problems.

Mady oswald don't put yourself down too bad, I'm sure you have a lovely singing voice
this one is nice too czcams.com/video/bXeMZUshzEI/video.html
😂
Mady oswald I love that
I almost spit out my coffee lmao 😂
People said that Sierra had a cold when she sang this song and that´s why she breaths so loud sometimes. I have to say that those strong inhales made the music even more dramatic and more powerful somehow.
She actually does those kind of breaths in all of her performances as far as I can tell. It definitely adds the the drama of it. I think it is intentional.
CAP
It is intentionally a narrow breath like that because of the kind of microphones they are wearing, which is very sensitive and near the singer's mouth. If their breath is too wide it adds extra noise to the performance so they train it to be "quieter".
Jb zxess
Well if she was sick, imagine how good it must have sounded when she wasn't?
Ramin's voice is what I really imagined as The Phantom's voice. powerful and villainous yet lovely and soothing at the same time
Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaah!!!
His voice is exactly as you described it for this role as Phantom. Seriously best description of his voice anywhere.
Yes, that is what women crave, love and secretly desire. That guy. Strong fearless not bending to norms of society, yet domesticated by a woman.
agreeddddddd
agreeee!!!!!
MAN he was looking at her like she was the last slice of pizza😂
That's the poitn of the show!
RIGHT!!! Lol
LOL
And of all the metaphors you could make, I'm pretty sure the Phantom of the Opera would not be a big fan of pizza.
The Last coke in the desert?
Phantom- SING FOR ME!
Christine- DAMN CAN YOU NOT HEAR ME OR SMTH
😂😂 This comment is underrated
Liana Porelo agreed
Christine: DID I FUCKING STUTTER?
😂😂🤣
🤣🤣
Sierra's vibrato makes the last notes soft and so beautiful!
The role of Christine is so difficult and demanding. The amount of talent you need is unspeakable, and I think Sierra plays Christine the best O.o
@@Howlingburd19 she’s one of the better modern ones, agreed. Amy Manford, Elena Bahtiyarova and Kelly Mathieson are also very good. Add Meghan Picerno. But my personal all time favourite is an oldie but a goodie. Look up Rebecca Caine. More opera, less pop. But you might like her alongside Sierra.
@@blissinchains i think what truly makes her stand alone out is the pairing of her and ramin. They are by far the best couple ive seen for these roles
Wow. Her octaves are insane. Especially the last one. Diva.
Goosebump moment in Weber’s masterpiece. Well done Sierra.
And she had a cold when this performance happened. I let that sink in often.
@@blissinchains the octaves are pre recorded
Yeah I agree that it is probably pre-recorded. Even with mics and not having to stress and belt your voice like operas singers in the pre-modern age, hitting those notes night after night at that length is going to wreck a lot of people's voices.
There are some clues on it being pre-recorded: It's the only segment in the video where Sierra isn't synced with what is being said, both at the beginning and at the end. The sound quality is also much clearer and less raspy.
M
My heart says yes butmy vocal range says no
*RIGHT?*
Im an alto and I could only sing the low parts well 😂 the rest is just.. Im trying so hard 😂
Is she using her head voice or whistle register? I'm assuming head voice because of that strong vibrato and deliverance
I'm so sorry for you. I have the same issue. ;)
Makr - The Fabulous Son Of God head voice for sure.
Homie I’m straight fr fr but if Ramin Karimloo tells me to sing like that imma sing

Phantom: SING FOR ME
Christine who's been singing for the past 4 minutes:👁️👄👁️
LMFAO exactly
The power in her voice coupled with that vibrato never ceases to amaze me...
She must have had a classical training in opera singing. She is the best for this aria.
@@bluespangle nope! She admitted she didn't get any opera training!! She's too talented!!

The fact that Sierra has never won a single Tony makes me wanna cry😢
I know! How on earth??!! Not even a single nomination.
WHATTTATATATATATTATATARATARRA I AM GOING TO DIE NSNANANANASNSBWNZNANOQOW
Seriously! She's a great singer and brought so much life to the character.
Hold on I'm FIGHTING them
Aniella Rose Bandril
*Um-*
Ramin's note change "my power over you, grows strongEEER yet" I'm pregnant
that's what i thought when i heard him singing it with nicole xD
I actually died
kawaiiushii Nicole really where over her head there. Just embarrassing to watch
צאַר האָלי i honestly liked her performance
kawaiiushii why? she didn't hit a single note
For me, this is the best performance of them all. Ramin’s power both as singer and actor knocks me over and every time I hear it. Heard it at least 100 times!
Me too!!! 100+ times
Si los mejores ❤
It's phenomenal
Ramin is no doubt the most dominating phantom.
!!!! Can't get over his phantom, is just so angelical and obnoxious at the same time, he has captured the character entirely
Tried to sing like Sierra just now and I almost lost a freaking lung
I can do it
dont lie to urself star
It is possible for most sopranos to do this with training(it probably won't be as pretty as hers though), as I mezzo I am one note away from being able to sing the last note.
😂
i’m an alto and tried doing this and now i have no voice
me:AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (sounds like goat dying)
Sierra: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (sounds like an angel)
I can relate on so many levels
Some would say she sounds like an angel of music
@@clitoris5898 OH. MY. GOD. This is my favorite response ever
Then try deathcore. It would suit you.
Don Emmons LMAO
The chemistry in this performance has me coming back to it every month. She looks under a spell the whole performance and it’s beautiful
I love how from 2:40 and onwards, there is a guy in the background absolutely wailing on the electric guitar. The sound is balanced just right so it's not very overpowering at all... but 3:30 and on though he's absolutely SHREDDING IT up.
if Ramin Karimloo ordered me around in that tone of voice.....yes I would hit those notes no questions asked...."Sing..my angel of music!!" me:how high
mine would be gerard butler
Same!!! Even though I already I can.
+Haley Simpson really? Gerard over Ramin? (Not meaning it disrespectfully just interested in why you have that opinion)
indiajessierocks honestly because gerard didnt need to be trained to sing he just did.
Gerald maybe didn't have to be trained but Ramin has a better voice (that's just my opinion, anyway). But I love both of them as phantoms.
Christine: How high do you want me to sing?
Erik/The Phantom: yes
Amen
sana all up
😂😂😂
Don't understand? Can you do it better? Perhaps both?
Facts 🤣
Ramin Karimloo is just the best Phantom. The guys voice is insanely good. The way this song ends... Superhuman Sierra
Those high notes in the end had me absolutely FLOORED. Sierra has the powerful voice of an angel, what PIPES!!
Dude how he closes his hand a fist in front of her throat as she finishes the last note is just... 😍 it’s like his OWNERSHIP of her voice and soul
Very insightful! I’d add when he’s demanding she sing for him the way he’s gesturing makes it seem like he’s drawing out the notes from her
He also does it in front of her vag too 🤷♂️

For me it's not just about the music or the performer's abilities. It's also about the chemistry. This is the closest to perfect I've ever seen!
Take a moment and let the fact that she did this live …. While sick 😳😳 She’s one exceedingly beautiful powerhouse!!

Me too. It was beyond astounding.
I'm in love with these two ... The BEST Phantom and Christine EVER ....! Their chemistry is unbelievable ... Ramin is so captivating and Sierra so captivated by him ,like the audience .... I love that in the high notes she uses vibrato ,I;ve heard versions where they go straight for the notes and it comes out as a bit flat ,but not her .She's simply perfect in every way
Having said that, I wonder how he'd sound with the goddess that is Amy Manford.
in my opinion, I don’t think there’s been a better cast for these two characters. I love the way they sing, execution of choreography, sticking with tradition, while also making it their own. Well done.
I can’t be the only one completely in LOVE with Sierra’s dress?
Bleh122602 same
And same here.
Cutsie Productions very accurate style for 1881, when this is supposed to be set.
It makes her butt look big.
Marshmelo Marshmallow it's supposed to. That was the fashion of the 1880d
Is it just me, or are his hands and his gestures the hottest things ever? His stage presence is just amazing!
I know! That’s one of my absolute favorite things about how he plays the role. And it really suits the character so well: Erik is a musician, mason, magician, mechanic/inventor, master pickpocket & thief, extremely skilled and lightning-fast killer, and also good at providing medical care as needed. What’s more, he also seems to have a soft spot for children and animals and shows the necessary gentleness and care with them. Tenderness, really! For all the power and violence he’s capable of, he can also be super delicate and restrained in his movements and has a lot of flair and elegance.
In fact, besides the bits and pieces of this throughout, there was a specific passage in Susan Kay’s novel that talked about how mesmerizing and seductive his hands are in how he moves and employs them.
There’s also supposed to be a general sense of rhythm and musicality in how he moves overall.
I couldn’t help wondering if Ramin had actually read the book, because both his gestures and the general fluidity and smoothness he sometimes uses in moving around really suit the role of the Phantom so well!
I sometimes think it looks like he’s constantly conducting the world around him and/or an unheard melody. :-p
It was choreographed to be sensual. Facial expressions, hand gestures, everything, to exude both of Erik and Christine's sexuality. The Phantom is sexually and musically frustrated, thus these "needy" formations
Dude u should see point of no return it's soooo good
@@AhsokaJackson i love the points you made. Thank u
Looks cheesy af. Not sexy at all...
Ramin is the best phantom by far, his vocals are just chilling
Not only can these two sing, they pull off the chemistry so much
Ramin Karimloo is going to be a broadway legend. he has such an amazing voice. he makes a perfect Phantom and a perfect Jean Valjean
There is no other Phantom for me . He is incredible.
+DJ Flakes we got to watch him as Valjean on Broadway couple years back. truly amazing. chuckling over how different he looks here :-D
Wendy Martin I got to see him in Les Miz when my band performed in Carnegie Hall. I wanted to go see Les Miz again, but literally no one I saw is there anymore
+DJ Flakes what an awesome experience for you! You must be musically talented...the rest of us just buy tickets. Will be catching Les Miz again in a few weeks, it's someone names John Owen Jones now.
Wendy Martin I thought Alfie Boe reprised the role of Valjean. I might be wrong though

Sierra had a terrible cold when she sang this song but she smashed it like a boss!!!
I can hear the cold compared to the 25th anniversary.
Are you mixing this up with Love Never Dies debut?
da96103 25th anniversary is apparently edited. But compare with her other performances, this one is highly suspected that she got a cold.
Is that the reason why she made weird breathing noises during the performance and is half a beat late during the song?
ah, so that's why i hear her breathing asmr as she's singing...
I watch every version of this song. Nightwish on the metal side, Broadway for the classical side, Cinematic for the expected quality... this takes the cake. I was shocked at the higher octave the phantom took off the get, but he delivers this piece perfectly at every bar. This was "Phantastic"! Good job
When he sang “ strange duet, my power over you grows stronger yet”, sounded awesome different take on what I have heard before.
They're so powerful on stage together. Even without grandiose gestures and sfx, they Controlled the whole hall with how REAL they performed this number. AMAZING ARTISTS
whenever the end notes come I get scared because I feel like something is gonna break or they're like gonna faint
Veni Vidi Amavi good thing its all prerecorded in a normal performance then. Nothing can go wrong.
In this case she legit hit that note. ;)
LOL
Veni Vidi Amavi doesn’t it sound like the chandelier is gonna fall over that note.
elphbwckd Most of the times it is talent. When you go see a live opera concert, you will notice no speakers or microphones. The precision of the notes are very accurate.
Christine: Opens the fridge for a midnight snack.
Phantom: SIIIIIING FOR MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Blowjobs. O-O

I love how Ramin draws out the “stronger” in “grows stronger yet” in this version.
love the subtleties of ramins performance his movements are all so well timed, hes an expert of changing his singing from aggressive to just a bit softer and it adds so much to the emotion hes expressing
*My god! HOW?! She's even wearing a corset!*
love it
Are you sure it's a corset? I feel like that would make singing anything, especially something of this caliber basically impossible. Maybe the bodice is just boned?
EDIT: I asked my voice teacher and she actually said wearing a corset, as long as it's not too restrictive can actually improve your breath control! I stand corrected internet. Also, I saw a video where they showed the costume, and she is wearing a corsette!
The final high note is recorded
@@avocadoprofilepicture2260 What makes you say that?
ZipZapZop because it’s true I’m not just guessing it’s a known thing they admitted it
Throughout the whole show I think to my self "Man this dude is crazy!", but at the same time I'm thinking "I wish I was Christine right now!"

As soon as I saw this clip, I immediately fell in love. Fell in love with the song itself, with the singer. Ramin is also on top, but Sierra, with her divine appearance and angelic voice, drove me crazy. The orchestra plays just amazing. I downloaded this video and watched it more than fifty times a day
Dang….These two!! Oh my gosh! They both have such insanely good voices for one thing. Sierra’s high notes always shock me as well as impress me. They’re so beautiful and powerful! Wow, Sierra Boggess is stunning, AND she has a beautiful voice. What a lucky woman! Perfect Christine.
The best performance of this song ever. They both have excellent vocal technique, great vibrato and they never sing out of tune.
Ramins singing is so seducing and so scaring at the same time. Best Phantom without a doubt. Sierras voice is like an angel. So pure and magical. Thanks Andrew Lloyd Webber for choosing this two to originate Phantom and Christine in Love Never Dies and for the 25th anniversary (The DVD recorded performance) no Phantom and Christine pair could ever be better than them. People commenting about sierras breathing please remember shes got a very magnifying microphone on and shes a very dramatic soprano which means she uses a lot of power in each line which is probably why she breathes so much! It might also be the technique she learnt when being trained in opera :) I don't think it's that bad personally and she sings this song hauntingly
Tanvi Says Is the singing the song hauntingly bad or good?
Not that I'm criticising or anything. I just want to understand the nature of the comment.
+Josh Edwards it's good, if you listen to the lyrics it is meant to be sung in a hauntingly way.

I absolutely adore Ramin's "stronGER" in this version! Why didn't he do it in the 25th anniversary edition you think?
Because they had to keep it original to the 1986 version.
I’m here in 2021 to cry about how perfect this performance is still. Sierra and Ramin, the orchestra, their chemistry, the set design. ITS PERFECT BYE
Sierra is the best Christine and Ramin is the best Phantom.... at least considering their vocal skills
Love them SO much, but don't forget the unforgettable first Phantom, Michael Crawford. He can take a note for sooo long.
@P F I think she's very good also as an actress, that's why her Christine is so vivid.

I agree. Very few phantoms have the power to that. Check out the video with Nicole from the pussycat dolls sing the title song.
He really brings to the character the repressed anger, hate and self-loathing few others bother to. Too many actors romanticize the character. Ramin portrays the tortured, insane psychopath the story calls for.

Ramin is the best male vocalist I’ve ever heard. Beyond Goosebumps.
I love it so much
He POPPED OFF with that high note on “stronger”!!!!😍😍😍
Ramin is such a gentleman. He never actually has body touch with the actress of Christine except for that grasp of her hand... gosh I think I'm falling in love
he had wife and children, yes, he's gentlemen
Miranda Wong Yeah, love that too ;) But that's in general very essential for this role, since the Phantom doesn't really allow himself to touch her...Ok look how society abused him.
And he only grasped her hand because she was touching his mask.
Ramin has gotten more and more touchy as Phantom over the years. At least when he's with Sierra. Here it was just the hand touch and the near-stroking of her face. But at the Bway Anniversary, he was making actual contact and stroking her face a lot and I heard he did it when they were singing in Japan and doing this song together during 4 stars, that he was doing the same thing. I don't know how I feel about that transformation, tbh.
cheetahinireland18 I don't think it's bad if Sierra is ok w it. Plus it's acting. He likely doesn't have any other intentions other than habit or to play a character
HOW DOES SHE HAVE VIBRRATO WEN SINGING SO HIGH
Vibrato helps you sing that high... It relieves the tension on your voice, which increases while singing higher notes.
Besides, she can sing even higher than that, that's why she sings "easily" that note and adds vibrato.
Vibrato demonstates control. When I sing that high my vibrato increases dramatically just bc it requires so much control up there.
Maura_The_Mango or you talking about the ones that go down there- or im tripping

Love that voice of the Phantom
Okay the fact that she's able to sustain a full vibrato on the E6... lots of other Christine's just straight tone it lol
The E6 was actually prerecorded by Sierra before this performance, you will notice how she turns her back briefly and then turns back, to cover that the E6 note is not live. Not that there's anything wrong with that; most Christines do the same, due to the huge strain of the E6 on the voice.
