Electro-Harmonix Super Space Drum and Crash Pad Drum Synthesizer Pedals

- EHX’s rich history was marked by many revolutionary pedals but one of our most distinctive lines was a group of analog drum synthesizers that included the Crash Pad and Super Space Drum.
Like the original from 1980, the Electro-Harmonix Crash Pad can create an array of drum sounds and other-worldly oscillation sweeps, as well as process external sounds thru its resonant filter. Plus, it’s been updated to respond to expression pedal/CV input for external control over the filter in real-time.
A faithful reissue of the cult-classic released in 1979, the Electro-Harmonix Super Space Drum uses analog synthesis techniques to create mind-blowing sounds ranging from deep kicks to high toms to sci-fi drums. Trigger it from the built-in pushbutton or an external (non-MIDI) electronic drum pad. Pass external sounds through the gated amplifier via the aux input. The Super Space Drum lets you create, control and manipulate a stunning array of synthesized sounds.

@5:58 is only about $1,000 worth of pedals if bought second hand
This is actually way cooler than I expected.
OK the fact you can literally just send your pre-recorded drums pulse information to the pedals to have instant sample sync with no need for a plug-in won me over, this is completely amazing!
oh that's dope...i've had both a few months and i didn't even know that
It should be noted that Crashpad has an aux in so you can use its swept resonant filter on external sources. Running the sequencer audio through a Crashpad is always a good thing to do in a Clockworks setup.
Well, done, E-H. One essential configuration you missed, though, is running the sequencer's output through the Crash Pad's filter, with both being triggered by Clockworks.
+juliadeetruchsess Hi Julia, these folks should have been at EH UK back in 198? to hear the noises I heard when you were designing the Space Drum!!
+UncleBoko 1979 :)
When are you guys going to make an AM/FM/Weather Band radio with 1/4 output? You've done everything else. Radios are good noise sources! Better yet: A 4x array of independently tunable radios in a single box with individual outputs... It would be like an all-in-one HNW/grit texture/John Cage cut-up machine! Oh my god, I'm getting dizzy.
This ^^^
Lmao
Excellent. I have a Deluxe Memory Man, Talking Machine, Polyphase, and Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi that I use exclusively with synthesizers. So these are really appealing to me. I hope these are successful for EHX. If they are, perhaps we can see 2x Space Drums and 2x Crash Pads in a single unit with trigger ins and separate outs as an analog drum brain.
Sounds like something the lads from Radiohead would've used during the Hail To The Thief era, digging it!
Please come to Eurorack
Had a pedal like this in the 80's, it was called ATARI. It was even modular! The modules were called cartridges!
Cool! I have the Crash Pad, lots of fun!
I wanted to thank you for this oh wonderful people of EHX
Someone let James Murphy know, I think this could be enough to reunite LCD Soundsystem
they already reunited sir ;)
I just fell in love with you guys.....
no words for these tiny, little, phantastic, amazing machines... that's it i was looking for soooo long! hope all this stuff will be available soon in germany. maybe after namm? ^^
Put some distortion on there and you have the next death grips album
I was not expecting this
LOVE IT!
Superbe vidéo je m'abonne et plus un like
Ok, I received an answer from EH regarding the pads:
"We used Dauz electronic drum pads in the video, here a link to them:
secure.pacificforce.net/dauz/index.php?id_product=7&controller=product
They are electronic drums pads that output pulse signals as opposed to MIDI data or something other digital data."
You need to go fully Eurorack EHX!! Do it!
grandes máquinas, a las necesidades de los músicos, para el deleite de nosotros los grandes melómanos del buen sonido
Great!
What happens when you plug a guitar into it?
You achieve time travel.
You warp in to the distant galaxies ruled by lizard drum lords.
Cool.
Oh, that's where the SonicState logo comes from!
can these be sequenced via Korg SQ1?
This setup is pretty weird! I personally prefer semi-modular synths to this. But adding maybe just one crash pad to my rig would be lovely!
I like that you need about a half dozen of them, then you will have to purchase the controller, and then buy the sequencer too. For those who adore inconvenience, cost, and difficulty...this is perfect!!!! Bah humbug to simple, inexpensive, and far more user friendly software solutions!
😂I can hear the salesman drooling
I hear the score from The Life Aquatic with these.
Where Thom Yorke when you need him?
I'd love to know about the drum pads as well... seems awesome.
Dauz drum pads
can you use this on guitAR
If this was in eurorack module format, they'd sell like hotdogs.
Get with the program EH.... pedals are great for guitarists......
And drummers, dude.
It would be fun to mess with these pedals and drum to them on an acoustic kit. Dan mayo does simply things but he uses pedals that react to the drums through the mics. Anyone have any leads on where to find such pedals?
Damnit - wasn't going to spend money from stuff I'm selling to get more stuff...
But now.
What is this trigger pad and hardware setup ? (Not including the vices)
Dauz drum pads
Just when thought you didn't need any more pedals 🤣😅🤣😅
Down with the Acid House and Up with the Love Shack!
cool.....
Like how stompable are these?
two questions: when will the be available in germany?
how much will they cost?
+Florian Illing VERY soon!
+Florian Illing The Crash Pad seems to be already available. ;-)
These sound great and come with a very interesting price tag!
The only reason why I'm probably not buying it is the lack of voltage controlled triggering of the filters.
I'd be first in line if this came out in Eurorack format.
What brand of drum pads were you using? Or where can I find a setup like that?
+Bass And Destroy If you find out please let me know . I want them too.
+Bass And Destroy Looks like Piezo drum pads people wants you to build the pads yourself. It seems like they only sale parts. I don't want to go through all that shit . I am gonna call Sweetwater sound Or Musician friend an see if i can find some cheap pads that are already made that will work .
Yes, they seem to be piezo pads. But I want to know if that stand is commercial or someone built it lol.
+Bass And Destroy Also the eight step an clockworks set up seems to be a more cooler way to go as well.
+Bass And Destroy Looks like just some fancy C clamps to me.
Serious question from a non drummer, what is the practical use for this?
+Markus Sæther To make music!
+Markus Sæther use some imagination :-)
+stargate669 Kinda like "Now hiring" signs keep democrats away? Not everything is political. Save it for Meet the Press.
+Markus Sæther Listen to the extended mix of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love", on which the Crash Pad was used...
+Markus Sæther To get more sounds - synth sounds that is - out of your electric drumset
The clockworks would be so much more useful with a 'reset' input...
why they didnt put midi? its so obvious...
I thought there was an alarm and birds being killed at the start of this video
00:04:00 ha! WAY too much stuff
the originals . czcams.com/video/vE676jy8Ms8/video.html

+Andrew FK You're a genius.
Oh great, Electro Harmonix has rappers in mind too
