Brilliant tutorial, thanks for sharing. However, at 3:12 , I think you were supposed to drag and drop the "TouchDesigner" folder (which is inside the "TDAbleton" folder) into the "MIDI Remote Scripts", instead of dragging and dropping the "TDAbleton" folder like you suggest in your video?

For those who are having trouble with TouchDesigner not showing up under control surfaces, update your TD install to 2021. Then you'll find a new tdAbleton beta component in the palette that will successfully establish the connection.

Hi! You need to copy not the whole "TDAbleton" folder, only "TouchDesigner" from inside of "TDAbleton".

You're not supposed to drag the TDAbleton folder, but the folder inside that folder labeled TouchDesigner

For Mac OS user, I've been struggling as TD option did not show up on the midi control surface - just want to let you know you need to get "TD resources > TDAbleton > Live 11 > Touchdesigner" folder to be pasted in Ableton "midi remote scripts" folder x

I figured it out. You need to update your TD version to 2021. In the palette there is a new tdAbletonPackageBeta component that will successfully establish the connection.

Hey! When exporting from touch designer using the moviefileout TOP is there any way of getting the audio from ableton into the audio chop in the movie file out?

When I go into "preferences" in Ableton and when I scroll down I don't see a "Touchdesigner" option to choose from. I have followed all the steps and I still don't see it. Is there any way that anyone could suggest anything?

Hi Bileam, gibt es irgendwo FERTIGE Touchdesigner Project Files zu kaufen (oder auch natürlich frei) um Ableton Sound zu visualisieren? Ich mache seit vielen Jahren Musik live mit Ableton und Hardware Synths und suche eine Möglichkeit das zu visualisieren (mit Beamer am Laptop). Zum Anfang hätte ich einfach erst gerne mal ein paar lauffertige Projekte und ggf. kann ich mich dann in die Programmierung reinwursteln. Es ist super gaga da irgendwas zu finden ... Danke für Tips zu solchen Resourcen.
Trying this with my new Mac Studio M1, with the 2022 build of TD. On my previous MBP I could get it to work with the TDAbletonBeta, but the Beta doesn't seem to be included in the 2022 build. Anyone had similar issues?

The MIDI Remote Scripts folder is in another place than the Ableton documentation says it is. The ableton documentation suggests you should create the folder manually in HD/Users//Music/Ableton/User Library.
That's wrong!
In the Applications folder, left-click on Ableton Live 11 and select "Show Package Contents", then it's in Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts. If you drop the Touchdesigner folder there you're good to go
The Touchdesigner MIDI Control surface in Ableton 11 only showed up after a reboot for me :)
for me works with TDabletonBeta - TouchDesigner and that folder :D LIVE 11

Hi! yea that should work. you just need to setup a local network via wifi or firewire. check out the documentation for how to address the other machine. hope this helps!
I'm using 2 computers , one runs TD(WIN) and the other ones runs Live (MAC), how is the process to connect them?
does this work with ableton live intro, or only with standard/suite?

Ableton intro doesn't give you access to Max for Live. You need at least Standard, but you'll have to buy Max as an add on.
Live 11 User here... was having issues - to fix, install the latest touch designer and repeat the steps in the video.
