You did fantastic! And I love that you don’t feel guilty about having higher pricing on your items ❤️ I’m struggling with this as many crocheters in my area will put on really low pricing (ie $10) for something I would have a tag on for $25-$30. I’m proud of my work but still need it to sell-my very first market is in May 😊 so I’ll keep watching your channel to give me more confidence in pricing correctly.
Thank you so much! I’d say don’t stress yourself out too much with the logistics for your very first market. Have an open mind and just enjoy the experience! I’ve definitely done market research on pricing with similar vendors but base my pricing off the amount of time it takes me to complete the project mostly.
I still question my pricing sometimes when I find other crochet vendors low balling their items, but then I remind myself of the skill, quality of yarn, and quality of the product I’ve made and I just don’t back down. I have also been to a fair share of markets to understand my demographic (people who are willing to purchase my higher priced items with no questions asked) and knowing what kind of expectations to have at certain markets. For example, I have been to artist markets in my area and notice that crochet sells for much lower pricing overall. An item I’ve priced anywhere from $50-$80 will be sold for $20-$40. On the other side, I have sold those same items at my asking price in vendor markets. The difference might be the socioeconomic status in those cities as well as the level of appreciation customers have for the craft. You also have to take into account how many crochet vendors of the same category you are competing with during your market.

I learned how to crochet from CZcams videos~ I suggest you watch videos about crochet basics before you tackle your first project. Once you understand crochet terminology, types of stitches, yarn weight, hook size, etc. it’ll be easier to begin learning patterns through videos. Good luck! 👍🏼
How did your market go? Did you sell out?
The market went fairly well! I sold out of a few because I didn’t offer too many. I think I sold out of the frog in a flower and the chick in an egg because I only brought 2 of each. I think I also sold out of cats, axolotls, and mini Totoro’s.
