Yes he is a nob, but my god he is entertaining. He is the man we love to hate. It's always more fun with him involved. Constantly winding up his opponents, the ref, the crowd. then when they fight back he uses it to fuel himself usually (not here though)

@@jkane Pure play is pleasurable for hard core fans, but colorful rivalries and antics engage a broader audience and is fun to watch in another way.
@@jkane Actually mate a little bit of bad sportsmanship can make the game fun to watch. I don't mean anything very serious. But just pushing the boundaries a little. Trying to psych out your opponent or yourself up. Making the odd little comment. Riling the crowd up. Putting more pressure on both the players. It can also be quite clever and strategic/to do with your composure and experience.
Don't get me wrong I don't want to see this all the time and a nice gentlemanly game is lovely to watch too. But you've got to have one or two 'badboys' that you just love to hate, and really want them to lose. It keeps me watching.
And though I don't really like Earls personality I love to watch him play because I know every single shot means more than the entire world to him.

Really looking forward to the Mosconi this year - the Americans are in good form and look confident but the Europeans are all very strong players. No real weak links on either side. Hoping to see a good, close Mosconi, with a Euro win of course ;)

Pumping cue up and down when you are aiming looks so bad, if you are a snooker player. BUT, just today I read that Mika has over 100 tons in snooker. Earl is a good player with no gentleman manners. Check Shaun Murphy for a "perfect" cue action.
Pool players have no clue how stupid they look with all their pre shot routines... in Snooker you never see this kinda junk.
I've noticed from Mika's other matches, that he can still play his best when he has an opponent like Earl acting up, or he gets in an argument, like he did with Jeffrey De Luna. He can go to the table and run the balls no matter when just happened.
Theses guys should try snooker theyd have no chance

Strickland is good and you can't take that away from him...But IMO he is a Disgrace to the game... The Mosconi Cup is a Tribute to Willie Mosconi..This isn't some Bar Room free for all...Mr Immonen Should also be Respected as well ....Not mention the rest of the people there....

That Strickland been more than 50 years old still beats mika wich is 30 something. Point is Strickland play bad and had bad luck in this game.

It is always good to see Earl Strickland lose because of his attitude.
Nothing against mika he's a great player but earl is in a league of his own. Mika had all the rolls and even a few wild shots he took ended up bumping balls into the right place and earl really only made one mistake . Luck prevailed pretty hard for mika to shut out earl
+Shane Porter Luck is a part of the game. Sometimes its on your side, some times it isn't. That's the way it goes.
Mika played solid altogether..... Earl was just off his game . That’s all really.... would’ve been a closer match had Earl brought his “A” game .
People aren't critical enough. Earl missed a tough 2ball early doors. He played a piss poor push shot in rack 5. His break was poor compared to Mika's as he lost control of the cueball. Mika played excellently. But Earl gave him a few chances he may not have done on another day.
That's how 9-ball works. Make a minute error you suffer for it at the top level. It's a more vicious game than people give it credit for
