It would be fun to see an episode looking at some of the best effects for space battles in movies in TV. It seems like a good way to discuss the balance between realism and storytelling. For example, a lot of Star Wars battles don't really make sense, but they're sure pretty. I think The Expanse does an excellent job of making space battles feel real and interesting while mostly sticking to realism. The effects of acceleration play a major role in the battles, as do both the enormous distances and speeds at which most battles in space would be fought.
@8:45 on the Island shot. I'm pretty sure on the DVD behind the scenes. The reason they had to reuse it, is because on the day they shot the stunt. A stunt Man was KILLED in the crash. They had to scrap the shot out of respect for the stuntman and his family. It may not have been on the DVD, I don't have it anymore, it could have just been on CZcams, but I'm pretty sure it was on the first special edition DVD that has all the extras on it. I bought it back in the day because I HAD to know how they made these Transformers look so good. The behind the scenes extras are just as entertaining as the actual movie to me. But I've always loved behind the scenes videos, i think it started with jurassic Park for me.

i noticed how the fall of the bridge sign direction was reversed to give an incline to the other two decepticons. I am here noticing the iconic mid-air transformation of bumble bee and I am like wait his back is supposed to be the hood and other top stuff of the car but he lands on his back in other words reversed/flipped and in some frames of the initial transformation the tires dissappear inside and magically added on the outside surface and he takes off which should be impossible considering being reversed😅 That been said still my personal favorite scene and its been a blast hearing from the artist behind it! Good health to all you guys.
It is actually amazing because back when the first Avatar came out, that was an experience and I never thought they would be able to impress me on a similar level. But damn that movie broke that uncanny valley point, it looked so freaking real. And for the entire run too.
All of the underwater scenes were absolutely breathtaking. But, whenever there was a lot of action, which was a good amount of the movie, it seemed like it jumped to 60 fps all of a sudden with no depth of field, and felt too much like a video game to me. It took me completely out of the story and I almost walked out of after the first half hour because of it. I’m excited for the guys to jump into the why that was at some point.

Dimuro could have been a bit more honest about the reuse of that shot from The Island. It was done because an extra got seriously hurt during the filming of whatever the original shot was intended to be and she sued the production. Bay had no choice but to reuse Island footage.
Correction: a rig is not "A hierarchical chain of bones". That is a skeleton. A rig (or puppet depending on who you ask) is the setup that allows animators to control the skeleton of a 3D character efficiently. In this case, a octopus can have different types of rigs, that can be then switched depending on the interaction. The most simple switch is between Fk/Ik rig.

And like... twenty owl babies get brainwashed by moon magic and are made servants, and it’s kind of offscreen but one of the bad guys falls into a forest fire and dies- so uh yep, not for small kids dvhjsdhj
Here’s you guys were talking about CG owls 🦉 in Guardians of the Ga’Hoole, but no mention of the CGI owl 🦉 in “The Labyrinth”! That’s was one of the earliest CGI innovations
I loved the Owls of Ga'Hoole when I was really young
Also: That's a great way to make lemons out of lemonade, right there. - Niko 2022
It’s pretty cool your channel is based on love of your craft and you get to review movies with the people made them. I haven’t found anything else like that on CZcams ❤
The Owls of Ga'Hoole is one of my favorite movies, so happy you guys finally covered it!
Oh I loved Legends Of The Guardians, it’s fantastic in 3D, such beautiful lighting, great to get some background on it, thanks guys.
I remember when I was a kid, Legend of the Guardians was the first movie that really made me think, wow how did they do that, it looks amazing! It sorta inspired me to start art and now I want to get into 3D art, just have to figure out how lol.
I work at Agora and to see this is truly inspirational and amazing to see what a bunch of artists can do when they are brought together!
One of the best episodes so far, I allways love seeing sth about the vfx in Transformers
The animation/CG hybrid of Titan A.E.
Specifically, the chase scene amongst the ice crystals at the end of the movie. Some of it is almost photo-real.

“Make Lemons out of Lemonade”

5:50 - This scene is one of my favorites in any animated movie. The whole "Fly inside" with Dead Can Dance in the background? This wasn't just a scene in animation, this was a moment of our culture.
Attempt 68 Chronicle Telekinesis Scenes.
?
YES!
Number 69 will be the one
Took me only three tries for Gangs of London… you got this!
Finally Gahoole supremacy 🙏🙏🙏
The owls of gahool was my childhood. I watched thay movie over and over too many times to count and I still love it. It still amazes me how gorgeous it looks for being an older movie
I tell you what, Wren! I'm already Subscribed! So, HA!
Although, I'm definitely warming up to being a member on the channel. I enjoy So Much of the work y'all do. You guys are always testing new things that I can totally see animators in the future use. It's SO COOL! 🤩
You guys should check out Unlucky Charms by Kris Theorin!
The Island is one of my top 10 movies! I love that movie and I was in awe with my mouth to floor when you guys said it's the same shot. I love it so much! lol
Love the transformer movies and still like how it all looks, especially the transforming in slow motion
Something which might have been mentioned before but I think needs an entire episode on is Monster House!
Rewatched it recently after however many years since it came out, and while the visuals are slightly aged the animation itself is fantastic (especially the house itself!)
oh thank uuu. loved all his work! great legends of the guardians. !
Transformers was the series that got me into VFX, FINALLLYYY been wanting that highway sequence talked about for months
I am not sure if you have done it yet or not but the tentacle scene from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 with the kraken attacking the ship is excellent. Id love to see your take on that. If you have done it can someone link it?
Yesss Owls of Ga'Hoole! It's so neat learning about the animation process behind my absolute favorite movie! :D
Thanks for leaving the mouth sounds during the Oldboy clip.
Legend of the Guardians is one of my favorite movies of all time i loved seeing you guys react to it!!!
bro i used to be obsessed with the Transformers franchise when i was like, 7yo. in hindsight, the animated shows weren't bad, but the movies were... *interesting*... but visually, i'd say the 4th one looked great in some parts, and the soundtrack was really memorable. this really feels like a throwback, and i like it. keep it up guys! Also, i'd love to see you guys to an episode with Melodysheep. He's made some really cool space documentaries on space and aliens and stuff, and it looks incredible! You really should check it out.
Id love to see Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities be on this! There’s a specific scene on the Autopsy where a close up of goosebumps and hairs frizz on the main actor that is just very impressive
Legends of the Guardians is also one of my favourite book series. I really wish they did more of those movies. The story is actually really good!
dude seems super humble and talented. awesome episode
I always just assumed that large rod in the highway scene was a large caliber spent shell from one of the transformers guns
Yeah that's exactly what i used to think as well
I need a breakdown of the Dredd remake!! Rewatched it not too long ago and it aged well and the slowmo scenes are sick!
i noticed how the fall of the bridge sign direction was reversed to give an incline to the other two decepticons.
I am here noticing the iconic mid-air transformation of bumble bee and I am like wait his back is supposed to be the hood and other top stuff of the car but he lands on his back in other words reversed/flipped and in some frames of the initial transformation the tires dissappear inside and magically added on the outside surface and he takes off which should be impossible considering being reversed😅
That been said still my personal favorite scene and its been a blast hearing from the artist behind it!
Good health to all you guys.
I think I only saw Ga'Hoole ONCE as a kid and I loved it. Before I even knew who Snyder was. Really gotta rewatch it
Looking forward to maybe a breakdown of Avatar!! That movie absolutely blew me away with the VFX
It is actually amazing because back when the first Avatar came out, that was an experience and I never thought they would be able to impress me on a similar level. But damn that movie broke that uncanny valley point, it looked so freaking real. And for the entire run too.
@@Merwanor just came from the cinema. I wish it was longer than 3h 12m... I got completely lost into the world and action.
@@UnknownDino Yeah I also wish it was even longer. The hours went by really fast.
It's going to remain the best looking film for at least the next decade (not counting Avatar 3 of course)
There are some tentacles in Our Flag Means Death, but that whole show has some really surprising VFX. They're super subtle unless you know what you're looking for. I'd love to see you guys break them down!
This Jeffrey is subscribed. And is very happy that one of my longest requested movies just got reacted! (Yay for Owls!)
The background of the shot with Jeffery walking was filmed just outside of my home town of Adrian, MI. Every time I drive by all i think about is that scene.
Y'all should look at the mid 2000s Zathura movie the effects in it have held up impressively well I would say lots of practical stuff
There is a Swedish film collective called Crazy Pictures that went from making sketches on CZcams to produce their first movie "The unthinkable". On the 25th of december they are releasing their second movie "UFO Sweden". I really think you should look into their work. They have some great practical and digital effects. Would be awsome seeing you react to their upcoming movie or "The unthinkable".
Love the channel boys
9:50 I also think the canister balances the shot very well, with two subjects on either side of the frame
The fact they haven’t done Rango yet is crazy
Fr fr
I'd love to see reactions to OK GO music videos. They have some breakdown videos as well, but more of a focus on the effects would be awesome!
I still remember that awesome treadmill one. What a throwback!
Hi Team , the end sequence on the movie Prometheus is Top Notch , Thanks all the way from UK
Margie was a breath of fresh air! Absolutely come back to the couch! 7:13 Dope AF that mocap jab
I think Ami Yamato would make a good guest on one of your VFX episodes; I think she knows a little about VFX.
That would be a trippy episode!
The owl movie is amazing and so beautiful! Why was there never a second movie made? It ended like it would get a sequel
Because no one watched the first one
Asking him to do "the walk" and him complying... the payoff was f'n GOLD. I agree with Niko's "100%!" Another fun one, guys
Everytime you were looking at the panther getting shot @ 8:40 I was WAITING FOR YOU TO SHOW SIDESWIPES AWESOME TRANSFORMATION
You guys are a class act as always, great stuff! I you want a VFX Artists React to Gross CGi you guys should check out MEN. Take care and Merry Christmas from Canada.
Game FX Artists would be nice too, in case the ideas should ever run out ! 😂
Guess it’s been asked before many times too 🎉
Anyway, thanks for another entertaining episode !
I would really, REALLY appreciate an episode for the Final Fantasy
/Kingdom Hearts cinematic graphics, that always looks amazing !
They just did video game cinematics 2 weeks ago with Jerome Denjean of Blur Studio
@@yourmom4976 Right, that’s why I wrote they should do a whole format on games with the people behind it and final fantasy should be def on the list !
Some new guests in that direction would be appreciated too, no complaints about J doh 😂
I'm so happy you finally looked at guardians of gahoole! that movie was and is a huge inspiration to me
The tentacles in Ray Harryhausen's It Came From Beneath The Sea from 1955 opened my eyes to the magic of stop-motion animation, and I've been obsessed ever since.
Since Wren has actually said "Tentacool" on camera - you guys do know that you need to do "Tentacool Reloads" now? :D
Tentacruel reloads 2, "The electric bungaloo"
it would be cool to see you guys react to shin godzilla because it has a very nice blend of CGi and miniatures even from a low buget move the VFX is very good even by todays standards.
Man this was a good episode!
The Rover is definitely a must see! Great performance from both Guy Pierce and Robert Pattinson!
Not sure if you guys reacted to this, but The Mask with Jim Carrey! Great animation and CG effects!! Plus love that movie!
I think it's cool when they leave in some of the practical mechanics they use for car crashes and stunts.
Like, in the Dark Knight when they flip the truck, you can clearly see the the pressure tank at the bottom of the truck still going off.
And hardly anyone noticed.
Check out the giant killer squid in Deep Rising from 1998!
haha that was cool seeing him walk the same way as the robot villain, I saw that film in theaters with my dad I am pretty sure. May he rest in peace this year.
This was a funny episode
Constantine as a whole has a lot of really good effects that still hold up to this day but i would love to see you guys break down the rooftop plunge from the beginning.
The first guest to not just talk the talk but to demonstrably walk the walk!!
Okay, movies with tentacles you could check out:
* _Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest_ (Kraken scenes)
* _Aquaman_ (The Karathen)
* _Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness_ (The scenes with -Shuma Gorath- Gargantos)
* _Godzilla vs. Biollante_ (Biollante's rose thorn tentacles)
* _20,000 Leagues Under the Sea_ (the Giant Squid)
* _Dagon_ (the titular creature)
I just wanna say this, only Zack Snyder can make a movie about owls and make it look epic... congratulations to the all the animators that made it possible...
Hey corridor, I think it will be great if you make the CGI monster in the show Wednesday a lot more scary, because at the moment it looks very uncanny 👍 Thanks love the content
Deep Rising - with Famken Jansen, the monster movie set on the cruise liner, came out in the late 90s/early 00s
That last bit on the canister in transformers, if you look at the negative space, and then focus on the car and the can, you can draw a straight line between them and the angle of that line itself is aggressive, while the subjects on either side are contrasting.
