Why do students go to other States for their study? Like TN & KA
Kerala has institutions but as every child is enrolled in school, expect a huge competition for admission. Students as per their mark and performance in entrance exam only brightest will get admitted there. The next option is private institutions which are costly.You also have to pass entrance exams. etc. Others will opt for states like TN & KA, which is less expensive but still families are widely capable of paying their education. Did you notice that is they are aware of importance of education and investing it.

Kerala government is the only government which provides free ration to people i.e. per person 4 kg of rice, wheat etc and those with 25 kgs for those people who are under below poverty line.
Kerala government also provides free education to children, Gives Rs. 4 lacs to poor people to build houses under life mission.

It would have been ideal to hire a bilingual journalist even if on a temporary basis or a translator, considering the segment is so extensive and so many questions were fielded. Till the elder daughter showed up the guys were having a tough time giving detailed answers.

In this area, kuttanad, land is lying well below the river even in summer,so when rain comes it get easly flooded. Land was actually Raised from the backwaters.in olden days river breaching the mud wall was common destroying crops and houses. Now government has build concrete walls to protect such breaches. In thos times life was very miserable. Now it's not so. Tourism industry has provided lot of jobs directly and indirectly to the residence.
People go out of the country for better pay .

One suggestion. Please take a translator when you speak to locals who are from lower strata of society. Most of them don't speak Hindi or English unless they are from well to do families. There seems to be a lot of communication gap. Felt a lot boring. Please also talk to different stata of society. One more thing, most of the people are not too much into politics. So don't expect them to talk about politics and government as they are least interested in it. Youngsters of Kerala are just moving out of Kerala in search of Higher education and job. They are going abroad mostly to Europe, Australia, Canada, Newzealand etc. in search of high paying jobs. Gulf inflow has nowadays come down compared to earlier times. This is actually the failure of government both state and central. It's said that in a few years only old people would be there in Kerala the God's own country. A sad reality though.

First visit the place and then comment it is not Delhi or Allahabad area. The whole district is flooded during rainy and high tide season especially Kuttanadu area. This problem was man made not by choice when their forefathers lived there. This annual flooding was due to unscientific construction of dams and reservoirs by state and local bodies.
