- Kourtney braved the rain and waited trackside for almost 3 hours... CP2816 left Bensenville, IL at around 8:30 and quickly made it's way out of the Chicago suburbs... UNTIL the railroads tech systems went down and the train was issued a 10mph speed restriction! The engine stopped in Hampshire and was serviced. Finally around 11:30, 2816 ripped through Genoa with the whistle getting a hefty workout through town!

This shot has everything... the bridge, the moody weather, train reflecting like glass, the plume, and of course that whistle!!! Love it!

That's a beautiful train, we dont have anything like that here. We just have industrial engines.

Beautiful shot!
Thanks!!!
I have had so much fun chasing this train this week!
Thanks for rockin it momma!!
Man I really love it when they use the 6 chime, sounds way better than that stupid air whistle
Agreed!
I totally agree as well. As usual, it’s all down to “modern safety regulations”. It’s why she has to use ditch lights when she’s in Canada.
The other whistle at least is an authentic whistle off a Sellkirk 2-10-4 But it sounds so bad with the diode operated switch instead of a cord. I’m sure it would sound pretty decent if it had a cord as well, but not as nice as the six chime.
One of the nicer things about the 2816 being down in the US on tour is getting to hear her proper whistle, her true voice!
The 6 chime is the one operated off the solenoid up near the stack, the 5 chime is her original one operated off pull cord and mounted near the bell.
As for reasons of using one over the other got told from one of the people who worked on it, that it was due to crew comfort.
@@Leo1C2MEXAS thanks for sharing that! 🤘
All of that horn work - and they didn't even blow for the bridge!
I wish they would have!
AT LEAST SOMEONE IS USING THE GOOD WHISTLE NOT THE FREQ Y ONE(disgusting because it does use a modulating valve)
