  • The theme of Vanderbilt University’s 1968 Impact Symposium was “The Destiny of Dissent.” It featured speeches by Robert F. Kennedy, who was running for the Democratic candidacy for president at the time, as well as astronaut and future U.S. Sen. John Glenn. Both appear in the video. The symposium, which was held March 21, took place less than three months before Kennedy’s assassination on June 5, 1968. Video courtesy of Vanderbilt Special Collections and University Archives.
