My father, Allyn Ferguson, wrote this. He has passed, but if he heard you play, he would have said, “Good job, you played my funk tv theme masterpiece real nice.”
This is a prime example of good things that can happen due to social media! Connecting people that otherwise would never be able to communicate
Your father was a genius. This is the best television theme song ever. There will never be a better one. I have never met a Bass player in my whole life that did not want to try and play this. When the teacher left the band room in high school, the cello players would play this.
He gave us something great to remember him by. Always loved this. May he rest in peace.
Barney Miller theme is in my Top 5 tv themes of all time and just a fantastic piece of music. Also loved his string heavy Charlie's Angels theme. So dramatic and iconic. Plus how many tv themes reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100??? (Theme from S.W.A.T, 1976)
@@bossfan49 Late 60's and the 70's were the best for tv theme songs. Love the original SWAT and one of my early tv favorites
I’ve always loved that bass line. Most excellent job. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Her talent is truly amazing as is her enthusiasm. I can’t imagine how much more she will show in the future.
Ellen, you make this 56 y/o musician and product of the 1970’s & 80’s proud! As intended, a TV theme lures you in and you stay for the program. This was my way into watching Barney Miller, Sanford and Son (Quincy Jones!), Rockford Files (another great theme!) and many others. I hope you find them as enjoyable as I do, if not more so and keep up the great work! 🙏🎶
Precious precision playing. Difficult beats executed at ease. Effortless plucking by her tender fingers. A divine kid…
That thing that is really special is she does it with tiny hands. That has to make it harder to do.
From Pink Panther to Barney Miller, the two best TV bass lines of the 80's performed performed perfectly! Touch 'em all, Ellen. You just hit a home run!
Can't forget Sanford and Son with all the chords
WOW... not only is she totally adorable, but to be this good at such a young age.... She is going to be very rich and famous in the near future...
That smile, it could change the world. Certainly brightens my day!
If I played that well at her age, or any age, I would smile a lot too.
This was the first thing I ever tried to play on the bass. I snuck into my uncle's studio when I was 12 and, ignoring his precious strat, I grabbed his beat-up Kingston. Only got as far as the basic theme but, I was hooked on the bass. He gifted me that bass when he moved to the opposite coast. It's one of my treasures.
Without Barney Miller, there is no Metallica. She's on the right path.
That’s not true Metallica was around before cliff joined
This bass line is a beast, excellent job Ellen! 👏
I just LOVE it when kids get into theme songs decades before their time. Bravo!!
Always loved that deep bass lead in to this song! She played it perfectly! Well done young lady!
Such Beautiful Talent 🎉🎉❤❤❤
You go girl! Whoever is your teacher knows their stuff.
Such a little professional player. Good stuff Ellen
Loved the Bass on the theme to the TV show "Fish". Love your playing!
How cool is that?!?!?!? Very awesome!!!
Amazing! Astonishing!
My favorite TV theme of all-time! Nice job!
Oh wow! thats a great job there young lady! Bravo!
I love that these older players recognize Ellen’s talent and enthusiasm and want to guide her along that’s what musicians do I suppose
She is amazing!
I can never watch an Ellen video just once. I usually watch each one of them about a dozen times each. And I'm constantly re-watching her older stuff too. Very entertaining!
no laugh at the end.... that is inadmissible 🤣
I've always loved this theme song! The TV shows in the 70s had the best theme songs. Thanks Ellen!
Great sense of timing Ellen.
It's what elevates you above all the other young bass players on You Tube now.
I know it's not a competition but ...
Damn you good.
That one had me grinning the whole time, beautiful job.
Well done to both of you!
This Bass line is so good, that they really did not need the other instruments included in the theme song. The whole thing could have just been the Bass line. This was a really great rendition if it. I can't show evidence, but I believe every Bass player tries to play this as they are learning the instrument.
Nice job Ellen. Barney Miller was one of my dad's favorite shows back in the late 70's when I was a teenager. We would watch it together. I always loved that bass line in the theme song.
Lovely and very talented. You must have great parents. 🎸🎸🎸
Look up Three Lives from Octavision. It’s an instrumental piece. Her dad is Hovak Alaverdeen, the incredible guitar player with the Mayones Guitars and tdhee Boogie Mark V tone in that video. I have watched that at least 40 times, it’s a great tune and has a very distinct Dream Theater sound and feel to it. He even got Victor Wooten to play the bass!!
Hovak does amazing production work and recorded and produced that whole project from his badass studio. Much respect.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Very nice to see and hear.
Now she has me wanting to watch old episodes of Barney Miller.
You Go Ms. Lady!💝
Ellen you are fantastic God bless you to moch
That was awesome!! My favorite bass player covers my favorite show ever.
Baby, God bless you. Somebody raised you right.
I have always loved this one!!! Great job, Ellen!!!!
Amazing . she's awesome. 😊
Looks like she's having fun!
She is quite talented!!! Her pocket and groove are deep and grooving’!!!!! Keep it up
In the pocket & great tone!
A truly amazing young lady 💕💕💕
Awesome! I'd love to see her play Night Court. Anyone remember that sweet bass line??
Amazing kid talent
Looking so cute and playing is soooo cool! 🎉
I just turned 51 but I'm sure I was her age when that tune was a mainstay in my head.
Gen Z is missing the beauty of weekly programming with a heart as we were lucky to experience.
WKRP, Welcome Back Kotter, The Jefferson's...even The Beverly Hillbillies and Brady Bunch made more sense than anything Netflix provides.
Regarding theme music that is.
Awesome job young lady!!
Now that's taking the bass out for a walk!!! Way to rock it out Ellen
Holy Mackerel!!! You just knocked me off my chair. Never fail to put a smile on my face.
I love the joy you feel when you play Ellen. Keep smiling and having fun. Check out some of Chuck Rainey's bass lines. I think you'll like them
I don't know for sure, but I think the smile was because she knew she did it perfectly. She should smile about how good she is.
Ellen is so gifted and it's unusual in my experience to see such a young girl so into playing bass riffs. Clever girl!! I just wonder where she will be by the time she is in her twenties. In high demand for her musical abilities is my best guess.
As long as my no talent self has been working on that and you come along and blow my playing out of the water!
Awesome job young lady!
Ellen,
Can I just say that you really are one in a million. So talented, and your smile is epic! Thank you! ❤
Get it! My wife told me I need to learn this song and I'm working on it. One of the great bass lines of all time.
GO, BABY. I LOVE IT!
Wow, this was on TV when I was your age. I have a lot of memories of watching the show with my parents. great job!
That beaming smile made me giggle! Thanks, I needed that. Keep slappin' that bass and entertaining the place!
How cool Ellen. loved that show..
great job. I have not heard that since the 70's. Brings a bit of nostalgia watching a black and white 13 inch tube tv with big dials and rabbit ears that never seemed to be just right.
Who doesn't love this classic t.v. theme? Great job!
SHE’S BRILLIANT 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Excellent job Ellen!
Has this Young Lady watched all of the Videos on Carol Kaye and the wrecking crew Studio recording Musicians. All of them are Legends!
That's sooooo cool, we g rew up watching that show, loved the theme and you are groovin Ellen, awesome
Great job! Loved the smile at the end!👍🏽
Ellen new bass guitar sounds great!
She's not only talented but seems to truly have a passion for playing. Her good mojo says it all, and it's contagious.
She's a musician first and rockstar 2nd. Which is the proper order. Sorry kid, but you got what they in the business call "it", and you couldn't get rid of "it" even if you tried. I look forward to seeing your journey to the top!
Did you see the smile at the end? She knew she had just nailed it. Perfection.
This girl is going places. Great playing !
Oh yeah - I've been waiting for this one!
Fantastic job Ellen
this brings back memories, thanks
Nicely done Ellen.
Total in the pocket playing
Cheers!!!!!
Thanks for the music. Keep it coming.
I swear...some of these kids are just born with it.
GIT IT GIRL!!!!😊😊😊😊
This is why CZcams needs a "Love" button.
Amazing girl 🤩🤩🤩 I love to hear you play 👏👏👏
Ellen will be a top-flight studio musician one-day. Mark my words. She is already a fantastic little bass player. She actually inspired me, to to purchase a Sterling SS-4 (and as a guitarist, I love it).
You are amazing. Kudos 🙂
Dang this show is even before my time. 😂
That was really awesome, Ellen!!! :-D
Always so amazing! Keep up the great work and you will always have a huge fanbase!
Wow!! That was STELLAR!! Very cool!!
Yes! You can't be a *real* base player unless you know this song (at least for us old fogeys). Thank you!😁
That is how I always judge a Bass player. If they can't play Barney Miller theme song, they are not very good. Every Bass player wants to play this. You have to. A Bass player that does not play this Bass line, is like a flute player that never does any Jethro Tull.
Wow, very impressive!!
Love it!!!!
I love it!!!!!!
Great 👍🎸🎼🎶🎶🔥🔥🌋🌋♥️👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love it!♥
Wonderful
This brings back memories of my childhood. Now I want a cup of Nick Yemana's coffee!
I Luv it .
Thanks!!!
This girl’s a genius-a prodigy! Hope you stay with it and eventually record with some great musicians! Best of luck, baby! ❤
Very nice.
Very good young lady!
Nailed it!
Fantastic. :)
Fantastica!
