Sophie, I am 53 and used to sing in a traveling college choir, and later church choirs, but never had voice lessons. After having some health challenges I am getting back into singing in choir and the worship team. I have always sang in my chest or head voice with a huge difference in the two. I thought people like you were just naturally gifted with no break. This mixed pharyngeal voice is totally new and amazing to me. I have a few good years left and I can’t wait to develop this middle register. Your videos are blowing my mind. I’m going to do your master class!! Thank you and God bless you!!

Thank you so much for this video. I’m not a worship singer at all but I was so tired of embarrassing myself at church singing off key and to be honest embarrassing myself even in the shower. I did a quick search and found this video, you have helped me immensely. Thank you.
I didn’t even know our voices could come out out of ours chests, imagine the rest! You do a great job explaining singing, you are an awesome teacher. And your joy and passion is beautiful to see.
God bless you and your family too.

Is this the same as developing your passaggio? "The break"? So I guess my question is, the pharyngeal voice is that bridge between the lower register and the higher register?

I have absolutely no vocal training. I’m not familiar with the terms you are talking about at all. I sing solos in church and usually I do fine. Is it possible I’ve just learned these things intuitively?
