Fire spread and animals decaying over time doesn't mean "ahead of its time" ita just incredibly detailed, in terms of gameplay and game design its outdated as fuck and you know it, i love rdr2 a shit ton but people tend to praise it too much

The whole "slow animation" that some people were bothered by, that's one of the reasons why everything in rdr2 feels like it has weight to it. And that makes it realistic. Lool at forbidden west, it's really responsive ,but at the cost of losing immersion
Pvp feels like shit in red dead online and before you talk about realism the rdo pvp is extremely unrealistic

Red Dead series is one of greatest games I've ever experienced, but I love Horizon as well
Agreed. My elderly father is nearly 80, grew up in the mountains of Tennessee. Got him into games with Skyrim (he was SO proud when he killed his first cave troll, he spent literally almost an hour over and over again until he killed it bless his heart), and he's spent several days worth of hours with me in RDR2 and watching Forbidden West. He likes Skyrim the best, but greatly appreciates the intricate forests and open worlds in these games.
Horizon's just a different experience. In my opinion, one of the best modern sci-fis out there, very original. Stylized American West, made of bright colours and ideal National Parks. Wrapped up in a fun story with adventure/RPG elements.
RDR2 is a well-read, worn old novel, even has some tear drops stained into the yellowed pages. More than just being read through thousands of times, you can feel the ghosts of the past just by holding it... those who've read it, those it was written about. Set also in the "American West," it carries the burden of life, all its joys and sorrows, poor decisions and hopeless bravery. A "real" story, one that makes the older folk like myself shake our heads with tired, sad understanding...
Favourite thing was me dragging a canoe up the Dakota river to Donner falls overnight, then starting a slow float downstream at dawn. Fishing, running the rapids and falls all the way to in front of Horseshoe Overlook (would be great in VR. They really took the time to make the canoeing feel real) Hunting through the woods for literally hours, finding the perfect buck. Alongside a quiet, beautiful creek I even get him to play the game like he did in Skyrim even though he's become so old and slow it's nearly impossible for him to "game..." he still spends an hour walking up and down the creek, looking for American Ginseng (that's really in the game) that he and his father sought through the mountains when he was young.

I'm very ill myself, I loved being in the woods when I was little. Games helped me get through this latter half of my life where I can't physically do much of anything anymore. I wish there was a way of thanking the folk who worked so hard on these games. To let them know how much they've genuinely meant to me and my father over the years. How important these worlds of freedom they've shared with us all truly are.

Screen space shadows screen space reflections are much better in horizon forbidden West than in red dead redemption 2 textures are much better newer and sharper than read dead redemption 2 RDR 2 has lower resolution old rock Texture meshes from 2018.the resolution of the base materials has been increased significantly the property of the materials has been improved and it seems to behave more realistically within the world's lighting. all assets in horizon forbidden West have more details at close range hold under scrutiny of 400% zoom while any other game assets game details will become lower resolution and become blurry in 400% zoom. The foliage vegetation reacts to alloy movements fields of grass deform and change as you move and animals leave a trail behind them surface interaction is one of the biggest improvements in horizon forbidden West grass snow and sand all deform based on your movement and the movement of other entities in the world. По уровню детализации эту игру превзойдут только сами Роки.
Rockstar games in all its games uses old engines for making new games especially the physics this means that it will not require a lot of v-ram, cause old engines on new consoles can let the game have a lot of features and varieties, and rockstar in all its games works hard on the graphics more than textures.

Убей npc, во многих играх после смерти у них как будто пропадают кости, тем временем в rdr2, даже убитые npc следуют законам физики игры, кости останутся, а значит рука просто не свернётся в противоположную сторону, как будто от выстрела в голову на него упало 100 тонн метеорита и все кости внутри превратились в пыль 🧐
Если Rockstar могут сделать, по твоим словам, такое на "старом движке", то я боюсь представить, что они смогут сделать на самом технологичном движке :\
Я до сих пор удивляюсь, почему в игре 2022 года (Horizon: Forbidden West) деревья из 2013 года, никакого рельефа в них я не увидел. Волосы Элой при сильном ветре не распускаются в ту сторону, в которую дует ветер. Персонаж все время стоит в тупой стойке, как будто сейчас будет с кем то драться, хотя находится в безопасном месте. Небо я здесь не смог оценить по достоинству, но мне кажется, что это тупая текстура, а не объемные облака, как в RDR2 🧐
В общем и целом: графика Horizon: Forbidden West хорошая, но не тянет на игру 2022 года, я лишь заметил улучшенные текстуры скал, все

Have played RDR2 on Base PS4 and replayed on On a RTX 3080. It holds up even more than any next Generation Game (as per reviews). I still randomly wander around the grasslands. It's just a wonderful world to get lost in. Waiting for the next game to make me feel as such. (I have always had a PlayStation and also PS5 and loved HZD for the information) But RDR2 is just too great to compare to others

Horizon wins when it comes to graphics. Rdr2 wins when it comes to animation details. Both should be praised and used as a standard for other games
Rdr2 is so well detailed even though Horizon 2 also holds up pretty great as well...Both these games are so beautifully defined.

RDR2 is more realistic, but I have to admit, HFW is way more fun for me. I gave up on RDR2 at some point. I didn't like the controls, felt so clunky to me. And I enjoy the Horizon setting with its postapocalyptical SciFi background story more. Horizon Forbidden West for me.
Everyone's reluctance to push physics is so strikingly apparent when compared to Rockstar. Horizon can have all the beautiful textures in the world, better snow deformation meshes, and better water shaders, but the fact that all these details have such an emphasis on physics in Red Dead sets it apart so much. And the reason noone does it to such a degree is because it's absurdly expensive, and time consuming. We are truly lucky that our industry's leading developer is also one pushing tech to the brim. Truly blessed. Be aware of that while it lasts, one day you're gonna look back at these games as good ol' times.

lose??? i don't think so, night in saint denis, blizzard in the east, weather system, distance vision, night, Parallax Occlusion Mapping Quality, lighting, volumetric fog, soft shadows, rain reflections, mud, snow... actually FHW looks as colorful as a ubisoft game, the lens effect is everywhere, in terms of graphics advancement rdr2 is still king now. rdr2 engine uses a lot of graphics engines in a game, just look at its settings and you will know.

It's so funny to me how because of that broken remaster people think Rockstar has went down the drain. RDR2 é um jogo muito bonito, porém vejo que a parte na comparação usou ambientes verdes de RDR2 enquanto no horizon usou um ambiente com ambiente com maior mesclas de cores além do verde.
Comparando a parte do inicial do Horizon que é possui mais vegetação verde, de longe horizon é mais próximo do real, e olha que joguei RDR2 no ps4 e Horizon só olhei pelo youtube.

Mas rdr2 joguei, e mesmo rdr2 não é perfeito no meu ponto de vista, a começar pelo prólogo que demora muito e deslocamento entre os pontos das missões.

I think both of them are Good In Graphics and Animation the only let down is the Fire spreading on Grass Red dead Redemption Really put a lot of details.

Red Dead still dominates in terms of details, but it is a fact that Horizon II has already surpassed it in terms of graphics... Many people do not accept it because of the affection they feel for the Rockstar game (which I also love) but it is clear that Horizon II it is superior in models, facial expressions, texturing, surroundings...
It depends on what graphics settings you talking about. HFW wins on TAA implementation and texture quality and npc quality, but with volumetrics, shadows, lighting, SSAO , Tesselation, long Shadows, god rays, volumetric lighting RDR2 looks much better, not a singke scene jn RDR2 that uses artificial lighting, the lighting is grounded and realistic just like in real life which is harder to pull off, HFW is full lf saturation, artificial lighting, shadows are good, but not as good and dynamic as RDR2, volumetrics arent as good as rdr2 and so is the lighting since it chooses to use artificial lighting. It exposes itself the most at night with the moon light, the artificial lighting is literally everywhere making the screen to appear blue no matter where you are

- Side by side mount combat
- flying mounts
- different weather systems, hail, blizzard, sandstorm etc
- Different bioms, beach, jungle, dessert, forest, etc
- Character response to different bioms. Sweating etc.
- grass and vegetation flattening during combat
- armour removal from enemies.

Although I’d choose forbidden west as I prefer fantasy games, RDR2 looks very ahead of it’s time for the style of game it is as well as how it looks more realistic than horizon in many ways. Though I also think horizon’s storyline and game design was thought out really well and just seems original unlike many of the games I’ve downloaded in the past when it comes to combining storyline and design as in horizon in my opinion it just seems extremely original but when it’s comes to RDR2 it just doesn’t hit the same way horizon does (this my opinion so please don’t be mean in comments or just general if anyone sees this, it’s just my opinion since im a younger person so I prefer younger more unrealistic content. edit: also I don’t want people to think I’m hating on RDR2 as I think it’s been amazingly designed and I love to see people trying there hardest to making these visually stunning games for us)

The thing in HFW that really destroyed the immersion and stuff from me straight from the beginning is how Aloy can literally instant dash from side to side while aiming a bow without any acceleration or anything. Just instantly snaps to a really fast speed
