  • August 10, 2022: Springfield Cardinals first baseman Chandler Redmond would pull out a brand new bat for game two of a six-game series. After sitting in a game one victory the night before, Redmond would do something that’s only ever been done once before in the history of organized professional baseball.
Redmond went 5-for-6 with 11 RBI and of course, hit for the home run cycle. Something that had only been done once before by Tyrone Horne on July 27, 1998 while with the Arkansas Travelers, strangely enough the then Double- A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
The momentous evening came full circle five months later. Redmond visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown with his family, reunited with the bat he used for just that one game.

I had a young man hit for the homerun cycle a few years ago in Legion Ball, he went 5-5 and on the lone single, he took the third baseman’s glove off his hand with a bullet……great kid, went on to play at Columbus College.

I'm confused. First, 2005-2024 is 19 years. Also, I lived in Springfield, IL in the 80s and went to many a AA ball game, including one with the Peoria Cubs, where Mark Grace cracked a bat and I was the very proud recipient. Why are you saying that the team's history started in 2005?
