Ant-Man is a 2015 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name: Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 12th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay by the writing teams of Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, and Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. It stars Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man alongside Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip "T.I." Harris, Anthony Mackie, Wood Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. In the film, Lang must help defend Pym's Ant-Man shrinking technology and plot a heist with worldwide ramifications.

To answer the question about 'ant rafts', yes, Fire Ants do indeed do that. In their native regions, when the rain season floods happen, they all cling together and trap air between their bodies, because of how surface tension works. So even the ants that are fully submerged can still breathe like normal.

Fun Fact: Michael Douglas celebrated his 70th birthday on set. As an homage to his on-screen character and to celebrate the milestone, the crew presented him with a birthday cake decorated in icing with ants crawling over a film reel.

What I really love about your reactions is that you take it seriously, you pay attention throughout the whole thing, and show genuine emotional reactions.
I can't see if anyone mentioned this yet or not, but its a cool shout out by cameo: the older gentleman sitting in the car that Scott falls onto the first time he shrinks is Garrett Morris. Morris was the first person to ever play Ant man in a live action production. Specifically, in a Saturday Night Live sketch from the March 17, 1979 show, which was hosted by Margot Kidder. In the sketch, a bunch of superheroes are attending a party hosted by Lois Lane (Kiddeer) and Superman (Bill Murray), and one of the guests is Ant Man, played by Morris.
I wondered why Mr. Morris had a cameo in this. Not that I was mad about it. I love that guy.

You know the film became emotionally effective when it made you become emotional over the death of an ant.
This is n underrated marvel movie, imo. It an incredibly fun and funny adventure, that really highlighted marvels ability to cover any tone in their super hero movies.
Underrated ? No. It's just average , even for Marvel . They made some great movies but some of these are just as average as it gets.

Proof of that is from its low box office compared to other mcu projects and the publics perception of Ant-Man being a "stupid hero name" with "dumb powers."

I never felt like watching Antman because so many people said it was mediocre but when I finally did I was FURIOUS! It's one of my fav movies now
Who told you it's mediocre? It's the most underrated MCU movie. The most common response I heard about this movie is: I saw the promo/trailer and thought it was just stupid. But then I watched the movie and loved it!

Antman is criminally underrated. As is Antman and the Wasp. There's such a heart in the middle of what is an admittedly tired copy-of-the-hero final boss. Point is there is a well-written emotional core here. I love that she cried at the heartfelt parts. Love watching others appreciate the good work of the filmmakers. The movie hitting hard where it was meant to, an achievement. Another great watch from Diegesis.

I'm a big MCU fan so I saw this on opening day. About thirty minutes in I remembered I have an insect phobia...
To be fair though my phobia wasn't triggered too badly and I really enjoyed it.

Hey, Di, did you notice the older Peggy Carter (from Captain America) at the beginning (along with Tony Stark's father)? Also, did anyone put it together that the van's horn plays a bit of the song "La Cucaracha" which translated is "The Cockroach?" Perfect for an Ant-Man movie.

I love your reactions to these movies. I sure hope you go through the rest of the MCU, and perhaps even the Disney Plus series. Again, make sure you always have a box of tissues when you watch these. You never know what will hit you. You even shed tears for dear Ant-Tony. lol

This is a popular used trope sometimes termed BPS villains. Think about how many villains in movies are Bald, Pale or Scarred (this includes amputees, wheelchairs, and other deformities). There's a lot (The Bond Franchise leans heavily on this one)

About fingerprint locks, yes, they are way easier to break/cheat than it seems at first glance. Mythbusters did an episode on them, sometimes even printed scan will work

All movies are connected one by one & very important to see.If I'm guessing correct this is the first movie seeing Maple syrup laughing so much. I only stick my eyes on Maple not the movie to see her laugh, smile & very hard to see her crying.

It's better than "Die Jesus!" but yeah, I looked up the word. I was familiar with exegesis (reading out of something) and eisegesis (reading into something) but not diegesis. It means "narrative" or "plot."

It's just so quirky and fitting that with all the heroes who were played before the MCU came around, Ant-Man was the only one first played by a comedian.
When he falls out the window and lands on top of a car, the man inside is comedian and former SNL alumni member Garrett Morris who played a version of Ant-Man in a SNL skit in the 70s that was hilarious.
Youngsters always miss Garrett Morris and his cameo in that car. He played Ant-Man in an 1979 SNL skit about super heroes. So funny watching babies rooting in the ashes of popular culture with no clue.
This showed the MCU movies didn't have to be so grim and serious.

...like when did that was ever the case to begin with, unless you're tapping against the other franchise without telling it. Its pathetic to think such average audience can't seem to soak some heavy dark theme but also show acceptance in odd ways, like The Boys? The psychology is baffling.
This was a great movie and I love Paul Rudd as Scott / ant man. This is should get all the love, it really is underrated it’s way better than the Thor 2 the dark world. Plus Scott is such a good dad and Cassie is so cute. Also have to say that Paul Rudd looked so good and when he was shirtless ;) wow I can see why they named him sexiest man alive ;)

Originally "Ant Man" was supposed to have been directed by Edgar Wright, but he left the project because of creative differences. I would have loved to see what the director of "Shaun of the Dead" would have done with an already quirky story.

Working at a small movie theater every single day I had people who would try to haggle down the price of a popcorn. When I said no they would get frustrated wondering why I couldn't just cut them a break, and when I still said no they said I should talk to the person who sets the prices and make them lower them.
Like bro I was a minimum wage working teen two months on the job. I have zero power to force the owner to change his prices, which were actually already cheap by the standards of other theaters.
They should have cut you a bream instead of busting your balls over something you have NO power to control. I guess it's the new entitled (we don't need to pay for food) cuz we have a channel garbage!
If you want to see how easy it really is sometimes to bypass high tech security like the fingerprint scanner, watch the Mythbusters episode Crimes and Mythdemeanors.

Quite possibly my favorite hero of the bunch, just because he's such the "I have no idea how I got to be here, but here I am so I better make Peanut proud." kind of guy and I love it. :-D And this movie was just fantastic while being nothing like the standard.

I have a picture I took when I was a courier for the entertainment industry. I believe it was for a commercial or something, but it was in parking lot where I did my pickups. A full size van with a coffee cup larger than the van and said ANT-MAN on it.

Hank Pym, the first Ant-Man and Janet his wife, the first Wasp was originally founder members of the Avengers in the comics :) Hank also created Ultron there ^^ I wasn't interested in Scott being Ant-Man before this movie, I really like him now, and this movie is pretty good ^^
