      Hand weeding because I care for my soil. But herbicides can be used with caution. Preferably selective

      Better to do a market survey to know if you will have off takers before you start growing any crop. Yams have good market but know what people you target like so your product demand is high. Market survey before cultivation is the 🗝️!

    I found the video very educational and I actually learnt some interesting information. I never knew about initially storing the tuber head down for the moisture from the growing tip to dissipate towards the head.
    I have a request. I have heard much about milking and know how it is done, but don't have the confidence to do it. I have never seen it done, Please could you produce a video showing how it is done in close up detail. When the tuber is cut from the vine is there any flesh left at the base of the vine?

      Have an outlet, then utilize social media to reach out to clients. Start from people in your contacts. They will link u up to other friends and families

      Try to eliminate middle men so u can make more gains. Plan to store left overs too. So you sell at later times

      Traditionally these are the times but now technology is taking over such that with irrigation systems, all round the year is possible provided you have seeds that have broken dormancy

    Good job bro. Is it possible to harvest a yam seedling today after one day and plant it back the next day, do you think it will germinate easily? Again, after harvesting, how long can the yams stay in the barn before planting them again?

      Really love this question, that's what dormancy actually means. It's that period between harvest of fresh tuber or seedyam to the time when it start to sprout. The time ranges from a couple of weeks to about 2to 3 months.

      So you should observe for sprout first before planting so that there will not be delay in germination. You can encourage breaking of dormancy by storing in a cool but moist environment.       If NPK, after a month of germination for fist application. 2nd application 3-4 months to enhance tuber formation

      In the dry season 2 to 3 times weekly is fair enough. In wet season, always check your sacks and wet when it's hard( no rain for some time)

      Yes of course. Only yams that have broken dormancy should be planted. Planting all year round requires that you batch plant so u always get seeds that break dormancy all through the season. Hope that helps.
