  • Me and my husband will be driving around the base and at the same time seeing the beautiful full bloomed cherry blossom. Just having a cherry blossom inside the base is a plus and fell like you are in the Japan. I hope you will like the quick tour. Thank You!

Thank you for this! I grew up there 30 years ago from 1987-95 and while there's a lot of new stuff (A LOT more chain restaurants), there's so much that hasn't changed. The biggest surprise was the addition of the middle school.

Thank you for this. I used to live here for about half of my life (8 to 16) when my father was stationed here from 2007 to 2015. I'm 23 now but it still feels like yesterday I was walking around the base! I instantly recognized every place in the video since I used to enjoy exploring the base by myself when I was kid, even off base sometimes. I wish I could go back, but sadly it's not possible unless I save up to visit sometime around Friendship Day since my ID is no longer military affiliated.

Thank you! A lot has changed but I still managed to recognise about 80% of it since 93. The old Marine barracks is now a navy federal, that's weird. If you did a video from club A to the Carrier, taking a right off of King St., cutting through the back alley behind the cpo club / b39 and coming out on Howard St. by the MP HQ , you would have a few hundred views from me alone. Film it slow with a lot of the surroundings. Title it "Yokosuka from club A to the Carrier". Since 1983, I can't imagine how many tens of thousands of us made that 18 minute walk countless times and would love to do it again.

Very nice video of on base in Yokosuka. I was stationed there on Midway from 86' to 91'. First meal I actually had on base when reporting for duty was at that McDonald's on base. Sad but when I was stationed there, no one really wanted to take vids of the base. Because it was a super boring place to be. A number of years later, I had traveled back to Japan as a civilian and went on base with a friend of mine who was still stationed there. The big different between when I was stationed there and now is, they have so many things to do on base now, compared to how it was back then in the late 80's. Back in the late 80's, all we had on base in way of food was McDonald's, The Seaside Club, Club Alliance, and the little hamburger shack near the Chief's Club. We also had the Benny Decker Movie theater near the Navy Exchange and the other movie theater near A-33 (high end electronics store). So hardly anyone stayed on base for very long when on liberty unless living in on-base housing because there wasn't much to do. Now, most will stay on base since there is so much more to do and it's much cheaper to do it on base compared to off base. Off base is where I shot most of my home vids. If you want to see a little of the base and off base from the late 80's, I've got some vids posted on youtube you can check out. I'll be putting more up soon. Thanks for your video.
