  • Here we see me unboxing my very first Oreck upright vacuum cleaner and eventually assembling it before turning it on for the first time. I will need to use ear defenders with this machine as it is VERY loud!
    Product Description
    The Oreck XL1 upright vacuum cleaner is a lightweight and heavy duty cleaner. It's designed to clean carpets, hard floors and delivers power performance across both surfaces. The Oreck XL1 features a 350w motor, which provides powerful suction across both carpets and hard floors and allows for effective home cleaning and maintaining a pristine home. The Oreck XL1 features ergonomic handle design, furniture-friendly bumpers, side brushes that scoop up dirt right to the edge of the room and a 'lies flat' design making it easy to reach right underneath beds and free standing furniture. It's fitted with an extra-long 32ft power cord, which allows you to clean for longer with less frequent unplugging. For allergy sufferers, this product has also been designed to incorporate a Hypo-Allergenic filter bag which filters out dirt, dust and pollen particles and fights bad odours. This vacuum is also ideal for large home owners as it comes with a 10.3L bag capacity. This allows you to clean from room to room with less frequent emptying. The Oreck XL1 is also backed by 1 year manufacturer guarantee.

    Also, where the black tube hooks in the bottom of the cleaner, there are 2 thin felt seals. They wear thin very quickly, and they loose suction quickly at that point. And the turbine that creates the suction, is made of micro thin plastic, and they easily break off. Then the machine makes enough noise to wake the dead.

    As I commented to hella good. Oreck IS now a Chinese owned company. That said some units are still (for now) assembled in Tennessee, with the majority being assembled in China. Of course, so is most everything else!! Thank you for a fine vid!! Allan "A.J." Cooper. Cascadia Clean Carpet. Since 1968.

    That's a nice looking model! I love the ORECK base assembly and everything about it. It's so cute with the baby blue color and tweed looking fabric outer bag. It's a terrific vacuum, and even if it's far from the best vacuum, it's definitely my favorite brand and design. I love it.

    I saw the Oreck advert when it first came to the UK. You could sample it for
    a few weeks, then send it back. I've had the Electolux SuperBroom stick vac
    for the past 15 years. Not very powerful, or good with pet hairs, but still picks up well.
    light and handy for quick use, the reason why I bought it.

    I'd rather have the ORECK than a rechargable. The black& Decker rechargable is 10.5 lbs where this ORECK is only 9. The rechargeables only last about 15 minutes max power. I just really like the ORECK. Now i need a good lightweight canister bagger for getting the curtains and ceiling fans etc.

    Just opened one of these today. My partner got one for work as week. It is the commercial so the cord is thick and long. I had trouble putting the handle on. I couldn't get it down all the way but it finally went. It also came with a toilet paper roll. Very easy to use bit so loud. He likes it and wants to keep it as he doesn't like the heavy Kirby and clunky SEBO d4. He likes the SEBO just doesn't like carrying it around. Wreck is certainly no frills but you can whip around the house in no time.

      I will be able to test how loud mine is with the decibel meter you very kindly chose from my Amazon wish list.😀 My guess that it will be in the high 80s or over 90. Thanks also for the tool set for the Vax Slim vac which I hope to get very soon. I will post pics on Facebook and thank you again in a video. I wasn't expecting them, so it was a lovely surprise.👍

      I wanted to surprise you. I imagine you always expect what is coming so I figured you would be puzzled with this one. It is more fun that way :) No need to mention me on Facebook or in a video. I don't need the glory - I just want to contribute as you do so much by making these videos and this is my way of showing my appreciation. I thought the Vax tools was actually a vacuum. I guess I didn't read that well. Christmas is around the corner so I think a vacuum will be in the works. Hope you are having a nice weekend. Looks like you have been busy. BTW: I tried to find a particulate meter you could use to test the emissions of vacuums but came up empty. If you notice one on Amazon, let me know. That could be fun as well.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  Před 8 lety

      I think the decibel meter will make it's first appearance in the Bissell Crosswave video as it is very loud and the sound level isn't mentioned. Those particulate meters are very expensive, or at least they were when I last checked, but I'll have another look sometime.😀

    I think the XL1 is the UK variant of the redesigned XL Classic Oreck launched a few years ago. The higher-end Orecks, like the XL Forever Series Gold, are much better, in my experience. They have a more powerful (and quieter!) motor, and a much stiffer brushroll. Although my XL Classic does a good job, it could benefit from the newer motor and brushroll. Also, whenever you see "Cookeville, TN" on the rating sticker, that means it was made at Oreck's US plant.

    Ive collected vac's for years, I have a pretty good collection. I have an ORECK XL. I think they are very over rated. They are noisy, over a short time the thin aluminum handle comes loose and requires constant re tightening. and the micro sweep as they call it is nothing more than a little thin black squeegee on the bottom of the cleaner, and it easily breaks off. I'm glad I bought mine at a second hand store, and not a new purchase. From Ohio in the USA. Love your video's

    Wonderful I can go to bed satisfied, your oreck ordeal is 1/2 way through. The noise is simply the powerful suction action😂
    One point of concern I had with my 15 year old XL. The cover you removed to access the belt. Well eventually the belt made contact with this removable panel and throughout the years score the hard plastic until it was almost perishable. Think this was down to disfigurement of end beater bar pulley.
    Best wishes

    Dear Roger. I think that the machine that you've received has a faulty motor bearing as my XL21 doesn't make that sound when it's shut off. I also noticed that sound when you had the belt housing opened and moved the belt. You might want to return it to your retailer as you've spent hard earned money on it and it might not last.All of my best to you.Bruce

    • @garrettdodson6110
      @garrettdodson6110 Před 8 lety +1

      Bruce Solomon his Oreck xl1 vacuum uses a different motor than the xl21. The xl21 series and pilots and gold series all have a sound dampening fan housing and a 3.5 amp motor thus making the tone and overall sound a bit quieter. The xl1 or what is considers the classic platform vacuum use a 4 amp motor and the fan housing has a metal fan cup backing the fan. This makes for a louder machine cause he metal amplifies the motor noise which is louder anyways.

    • @garrettdodson6110
      @garrettdodson6110 Před 8 lety +1

      However his machine does have a bad wind down but the over all tone of the machine sounds like it's suppose to. That metallic grinding / clanging sound at the end is pretty indicative of bent motor cooling fins thus hitting the case of the Motor right at the inner most bearing. Not to be confused with the blades of the actual suction/ impeller fan though.

Well, I noticed on the rating plate the commercial version states it is made by Royal out of Ohio. It does say it was made in the USA but the box is copyright 2004 TTI. It is so very loud. I didn't think a vacuum could be louder than a Kirby but this one tops it. The commercial is harder to push as well. Does not move on its own at all but has a very thick long cord.

      Mike Breler Stop using amps - a measure of current, not power! Given the UK voltage is double that of the US, for the same number of amps we get twice the power, or putting it another way, the same power is obtained using half as much current. Power is measured in watts. It's the only sensible unit to use!

      We had one in the office where I work because they're quiet so the cleaning crew could vacuum while we're on the phones but they seem to need replacing every six months or so because they do break quickly.

    Why do Americans use these instead of canister vacuum cleaners?

  • @David49305
    @David49305 Před 8 lety

    Oreck's have always been marketed to little old ladies that cannot lift heavy cleaners.

      I have a CZcams channel dedicated mainly to vacuum cleaners and I like to show as many different models as I can, new and old. If you want to see something brand new, I’ve just bought a Dyson V11.

    It seems American cleaners are more difficult to assemble. Bad instructions!

      Why does the fact that I and thousands of my viewers like vacuums make you so mad. 😡 People like different things, get over it.
