    I ordered this past week and it appeared they were going to start shipping out yesterday. I have plenty of gear that I make noise (songs? Lol) on... but the simplicity and portability of this along with the innovation and fun factor fueled my GAS hard. Waiting in the car in the pickup line at my kid's school will no longer be boring with this in hand. Haha!

      But still gets commission if you buy using his link… there’s little to no independent and not-paid-for reviews on the internet. Good reviewers get bought out and the little guys just want the clout so they review every product and say everything is amazing

    I just ordered mine! Super excited to get it. I have an Instrument 1 and Orba 2, although I hardly ever use the Instrument 1, I absolutely love my Orba 2 and use it frequently for generating ideas and brainstorming while making music. I haven't used it as a "Live" instrument yet but I can definitely see the potential as a live-played instrument. Been looking forward to the Chorda since it was on Kickstarter. I really appreciate how much Artiphon listens to their customers' opinions as well. Trying to create a brand new type of electronic instrument while being innovative is definitely not easy, but I think Artiphon is on the right track with the Orba and Chorda.

    I've been interested in this but I'm still a bit jaded by the Orba1. The Orba1 seemed great but when you actually got your hands on it, it was clear how limited it was and I lost interest within an hour or two. I feel like the buttons they're using on the Orba and the Chorda just aren't tactile enough as well. I think if I'm going to give them more of my money, it'll be on the Intrument1.

      I totally agree with you.
      They could work on the sensitivity, and also letting you play different scales other than just the pentatonic, because it gets really boring really quickly when all you can do is pentatonic stuff.
      They could have done so much more with this in my opinion especially for $250.
      I bought an arturia mini Mark II midi keyboard, and it is just almost infinitely more useful than this for $89.

    I'm trying to ask or recommend this to Chorda too, but do you know if there is any way to get the ARP to move with a certain BPM? I love that it has an arpeggiator, but if I can't set it to a certain BPM I can't play along to drums or instruments outside the Chorda (I kind of feel like it wasn't meant to be played with other instruments/drum-machines)

    first of all, thank you for making this video. I have a question. If you use Chorda sounds to write a song, and then you want to release it, are there any copyright issues? I recently got a Chorda, and I'm working on an album. I wasn't sure if their sound library for Chorda is legally usable for my own music if I were to put it in my album

  • @thehellezell

    I bought an Orba (half for my kid, half for me) and was similarly disappointed in the selection of key / chord / scale options that you can select. I need something that goes beyond "windchime" ... it's like an actual musician (not someone who just makes "beats") wasn't really consulted when they designed their software.

  • @Velereonics
    @Velereonics Před 7 měsíci

    Very fun, great build quality, really awesome to play with.
    Therefore the fact that it is so unbelievably limited in customizability, which severely hampers its playability, is a travesty. Imagine if all the functions, gestures, and zones on the keys could be set to anything you wanted.
    For instance, pressing a key below or above a currently pressed key in bass mode gives you half step. Strumming up or down to change octaves on the fly. Holding key without pressing A gives you a standard major or minor scale for little riffs at the end of phrases. Top and bottom keys like b/w keys on a keyboard, easier preset selection, there are so many things that immediately come to mind that it could do, all the pieces and capabilities are right there, but for whatever reason, they made it so it cant
    It is a device in prison

      Right this is junk compared to instrument 1. Can’t play your own chords now and can’t play full on leads like an actual guitarist. They could’ve at least gave more chord options and made it like a fret less instrument where you could play scales like an actual guitarist and bassist

    • @Altronn
      @Altronn Před měsícem

      Instrument 1 is great but the internal technology is pretty outdated. I’m hoping they’ve got an “Instrument 2” in the works with improvements over the original like USB-C, Bluetooth and a built in synthesizer so you can play it standalone

  • @24nikita
    @24nikita Před 10 měsíci

    I bought an Orba, then they brought out the Orba 2. No way of updating the Orba 1 to Orba 2. if you buy a Chorda they will most probably bring out a Chorda 2, probaly with no updating to Choeda 2 your niked.

      There was some significant time between 1 & 2 - and one is a sample instrument while the other is a synth. Don’t be this type of person. Not everything a company does is a personal slight.

    It's a shame that Artiphon botched the Kickstarter campaign so badly. I'm still waiting for mine, along with hundreds (thousands?) of other backers, while Artiphon shipped units to retailers more than a month ago. It's sadly a company you should never trust with your money.

      There have been so many Kickstarters over the years that have had difficulty shipping products out on time as soon as they are released. Unfortunately that is why I don't trust Kickstarter anymore and would rather wait for an official release date because I trust Sweetwater more than any actual company. That being said, I ordered mine on Sweetwater Friday afternoon Jan 19th and received it this morning (Thurs Jan 25).
