Historic anthem of the Former Biafran Republic (1967-1970). This is a tribute to its people and also an acknowledgment to the ongoing peaceful agitations and movements to restore the Republic of Biafra.

I still wonder why Finland did not take this as our national anthem
National anthem is a song that is played and sang literally everywhere. Someone said Finlandia hymn is too good for that, and I kinda agree. Finlandia is played when celebrating something bigger.
For people who don't know, the melody of Biafras national anthem is taken from Finlandia, a Finnish national song. That's why we are talking about it.

@@rusting_away767 It means that Finland's national antem is played and sang a lot. Finlandia is played more seldomly, for example in independence day (when our national anthem is of course played, too). Some people think that is Finlandia were played everywhere like our national anthem, it would weaken it's spirit.
I don't know really myself. That might be true, but i think Finlandia would be a good national anthem, too.
@@karjalatakaisin I'd take Finlandia over Maamme any day of the week. Call me traitor but Maamme is such a slag and sounds so bland, anything out of the typical norm "bland sounding national anthems" would be great. Italy's national anthem is great, for example. Another good for Finland would be "Porilaisten Marssi".

I didn't know that 'Finlandia' was the tune for the Biafran Anthem. I was in secondary school in England at the time and we organised a jumble sale to raise money to by food for the children.
