Laser cut, slaying every note, massive energy coming out of her body, exploding into a crescendo of musical nuclear explosion. Most artists would not like to hear their naked voice without any music, or (nowadays ) auto tune. Pat is amazing. ! Thank you Ken!
Dude, nobody’s had, has or will ever have a voice like that! That’s an uncopyable voice! There is so much clarity and air in that voice! Her consonants sparkle like light off a wine glass! The song was written by Pat right around the time she and Neil had split. She has been quoted in various interviews that the song was based on their early relationship.
Finally. So happy to see Pat finally get some love and analysis on reaction videos. I feel like a lot of people have kind of forgetten how great of a vocalist she is.

I grew up listening to Pat , Heart, the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. They’re not making singers and bands like this anymore. Just half naked “singers” dancing around the stage.

The story Benatar and Giraldo tell about this song is that it was the first they wrote together about their new relationship. Benatar had divorced her husband who was her high school sweetheart. They had married impulsively young because he joined the military. Giraldo had been cheated on by his girlfriend at the time (The Exorcist's Linda Blair) so they were both gun-shy. Benatar wrote the lyrics and pushed them under the studio door as she was too embarrassed to have Neil read them in front of her. He wrote the music. History made.

I seen her at the Tampa fair in the early 2000's we were right in front of the stage and my son was on my husband's shoulders and she sang to him and pointed to him. IT WAS SO COOL!!!

I read an article where she said she wrote this and Neil was working with the door closed. So, she just slips this under the door to him. She was hesitant about just giving him this song face to face. Might have been a little turmoil going on? That high note she hits..... but your heart says "try again" gives me chills every time I hear her sing this.

Ken, I agree 1000% Pat Benatar is one of the best vocalists of our time. However, I must disagree with your opinion to the meaning behind this particular song. I perceive the lyrics in this song about a man notoriously known as being a player doing his best to avoid falling in love. Love your stuff Ken thanks for the entertainment and knowledge you offer.

I've loved and listened to Pat Benatar since I was a kid in the 80's. I requested that you did a video on her a while back. 😁🏁
Some background for Ken... You mentioned the lyrics and how she seemed to write about real stuff in her life... There's an interview of Pat out there somewhere, and she mentioned that this was one of the songs (the lyrics she wrote) that she was afraid to present to Neil. So she literally folded them up and slid them to him under their bedroom door. She said it certainly wasn't the only time she felt that way about some of the songs they wrote together.

Pat is an expressive, consistent singer. Let me suggest two great rock performances by Tina Turner: her duet with Bryan Adams "It's Only Love" (Live in Birmingham 1985) and "Undercover Agent for the Blues" (Live in San Bernardino 1993).

Today’s music misses the mark for alot of even younger people. There are a TON of ‘reaction’ channels of 20 somethings… teens asking their parents ‘ I heard a new group they are AMAZING…. Have u heard of… (Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Skid Rowe, Lionel Ritchie, Santana, A-HA, Human League, etc etc)?!
