So crazy that the progenitor of modern skating feels this way about himself although I understand the pressure he feels, YOU ARE A LEGEND, RODNEY. You could never do anything ever again and you will still be the legend amongst legends.
Rod was the reason I got into skating, not from THPS, but from Gleaming The Cube. Later I learned about him and he inspired me to ride bikes, he understands the passion for living, I only feel alive riding my favorite set of wheels too.
I have neck and back injuries due to multple car accidents, doctors told me that I should avoid skating. I have to prevent my injuries from worsening or even the worst happening. I want to skate again. Watching one of my all time favorite skaters go through something life changing like I did and work towards getting back on a board, Its the motivation I needed.
Rodney Mullen has always been my favorite skater didn’t think I could admire him more. Then he casually says I have faith and take the knee at night and proves me wrong. A true LEGEND!!!
I love Rodney Mullen so much. I love how open he is. Met him on the Swatch tour in ‘86 or ‘87 in Ft. Pierce, FL at Orange Blossom Mall. He’s been an inspiration since then. I read about Tony around ‘86 I the Mini Page section of the newspaper for kids. I remember he was holding his cat by his face in the picture. Rented Search for Animal Chin and the rest is history. Keep going you guys and take care of yourselves
Love you guys. When Rod was explaining the surgery with the femur being connected to the hip like that is gnarly!!! Heal well brothers and may we all sk8 till death do us part.
Congratulations Rodney! I had a similar story, but I was completely prohibited from any sudden movements and loads. It's cool that you can still skateboard after everything!
To say these two are legends of the sport would be akin to saying that Michelangelo's masterpiece of a statue called David is pretty decent sculpture work. Understatement of the century. These guys practically ARE skateboarding, at least to those of us who grew up watching the in the 1980s and 1990s. It blows me away to know that they are both still incredible at what they do, truly inspirational.
Had my right hip done but I still stopped skating because of the run outs and hippers. Took up BMX (kinda nuts) and focused more on rock climbing. I also snowboard but stopped doing park and only ride back country, but I'm 54 so I it's all good.
Used to draw and paint, as well as write poetry. Lost my arm in 2020 due to compartment syndrome and had an amputation at the elbow. First thing my son said after two months in the hospital was “but dad, how are we going to draw together now?” Questioned if I was even still a man. But after some time I got a pad to draw on my laptop with photoshop and it took a while but eventually I learned with my left. Sure it’s tedious AF, but there’s always a silver lining if you welcome it. Good shxt though, Mullen has always been my favourite skater✊🏾
2 years ago I woke up completely paralysed from the chest down. I had just got on flow for a local skate company and was starting to film clips. It was my dream! I was bedridden. All I thought about was skating again. It took me a year to learn to walk again. My spinal cord was completely crushed by CNS lymphomas. I got bolts the size of wolverine claws in my spine. But I found my way. to hear a legend talking about something similar to what I went through and knowing that feeling of wanting nothing but to skate again, let alone walk.. is so palpable to me and really brings me back to a universal truth about passion and fulfilment that I think we can all understand 🙏 bless the MullMan!!!! Living legends.

True skaters. All 3 have infinitely more talent than I did. BUT, that mentality to keep going, I have that as well, at 37 I have bursitis as a result of the compressions on my joints after skating for 18 years and have days where I can't walk, my knees are bone on bone according to my last X-ray. Can't tell you the amount of times I've been knocked out, but I'd do it all again, an physically, if I could take the slams, the desire is still there to skate, my body just can't do it.

I'm 42 got taken out of the game at 26 bad back injury from work I miss it that was my life
Same, 35 injured my back at 23...ruined.my.life.
What a guy. We should all practice being so grateful
Rodney and OG Indiana Jones are my 2 Childhood and current Heroes
Im soo happy for him. Moved to tears. The world is a better place with Rodney skating.
Rodney has to be one of the purest souls on this earth
It's always such a joy to hear Rodney talking ❤❤❤
Congratulations Rodney! I had a similar story, but I was completely prohibited from any sudden movements and loads. It's cool that you can still skateboard after everything!
there will never be another like that man ! str8 living legend
Let’s all take a second and appreciate all these guys for all they’ve done for all of us. Legends
It’s rare that the goat of something is also so humble and sweet.
His reaction to landing tricks again after so long is proof he is still human. Thank you for everything you've done, Rodney! A true legend.
Rodney Mullen is heartwarming as always❤ wish I could meet and skate with him once in my life!
😁🤙🏼
Rad testimony. Rad T. Thank you!🔥
I’d listen to Rodney talk about anything he talks so passionately about everything
I straight up love Rodney Mullen. Not only because of what he’s done for skateboarding but he’s just such a gentle and beautiful soul. If you haven’t read The Mutt, do it.

I love Rodney, my idol forever❤
3:37 this part KILLED me man lmao
Possibly the most influential man to have grown up watching. I thank god for Rodney Mullen
I could hear the joy of a teenager in his voice.
That chest heave moment, the relief of being home.
That’s a beautiful human being right there- respect ✊
i love this for Rodney! Absolute legend.
I'm 40 I used 2 skate still watch round 1 and round 2 and his freestyle skating crazy
Thanks for this, I’m gonna skateboard more this year for sure!
I can relate. Broke the heck out of my ankle a couple of years ago, Had surgery, and it was like new after it healed. Medical science has been knocking it out of the park lately.
Love Rodney Mullen. What a guy!
Absolute legend.
My heart sings for him!!!! He deserves nothing but the best.
I’m about to turn 40. Been skating 27 years. I’m laying in bed almost mummified from trying to switch flip a medium sized gap lmaooo. And this legend here had both hips replaced and still ripping .
Hey thanks tony hawk for getting me blackballed from the skate industry! Your so nice!
No but seriously you probably saved my life even if you dont know me directly getting kicked off that team got me away from the crap everyone was doing around me
Thumbnail man did y’all dirty
Its definitely gonna be a sad day when both these legends times are up, lets just hope we get at least 30 years each!
Rodney is always a few degrees away from making a point in his story clear. I feel like he ends every sentence with a cliff hanger.
