    These crafts are great!! I'm already saving this video for future builds.
    I don't own a 3d printer nor airbrush so seeing you build terrain without using them is good. However, build what you want, however you want. You can always 3d print items and show us alternatives like with this video.
    Again, can't say it enough, you're awesome and glad to see you back.

    Love these!! that cellar gatch is amazing.
    I am also pleased you're using all those little odd shapped bits of foam we all amass. One project my friend used them on was a breached section of a "massive" fortified city wall. As you may know they often built such walls with dressed stone on the faces and rubble filling up the gap in between. So in the breach all those odd shapes looked perfect as rubble spilling out.

    Dude!! Just received a bottle of black 3.0 from a friend and was thinking of using it in a well. 🤣🤣 As for 3d printing, your work around always look great. If anyone wants to get into printing, there are great resin printers on the market in the 100 usd price range

    • @irongryphon

      The 3.0 black is quite useful for creating some nice depth to some projects. And I tend to use it when painting out negative space 👍🏻😀

  • @joshuaweinbergdelsolhs8321

    Another excellent video. You keep impressing me with how you use 'found objects' and using them for your crafting. I am not into table top gaming myself (I'm the guy in Las Vegas who is working on a 54 mm scale diorama of the Gettysburg battlefield from the American Civil War) but so many of the techniques you use continue to be helpful and inspiring for me. Just today, I am working on a tall stack of 'firewood' for the farm house that was used by the commanding general of the US army during the three day battle and I gathered sticks from bushes/shrubs from the front yard of my house to use as the 'cords of firewood'... I was struggling with how to cut the sticks. I tried using a rotary cutting blade on my Dremel tool (which burned the wood) and I tried using an Xacto blade... neither worked to my satisfaction. When I saw you using a pair of pliers, that was the solution that best fit my problem. Thank you!

    Alan, love how these came together. For the pink foam, I know that some enterprising folks have put some for sale on Amazon. The price is high for what you get though.
    As for the hand crafted components versus 3D printed versus purchased: I like the idea of crafted where it doesn't negatively impact the build quality. An example would be the gears. I'm sure you could have made some, but would they have been as good looking? Mine aren't. You should use what makes sense.

    • @irongryphon
      @irongryphon  Před 3 lety

      Thanks 👍🏻🙂 yea I figure as long as I can suggest where to get small parts like gears or chain then there's no harm in using them. 3d printed is abit more difficult but there's shops on Etsy and eBay I guess. I certainly don't want to compromise the overall look by making clunky looking intricate bits

    The little cellar door is my favourite, i love the cocktail stick hinges!

    ‘PULL THE LEVER!’
    Not having access to 3d printing I like seeing the cheaper work arounds as they are more likely to be accessible to me BUT I like seeing the 3d printed stuff too.

    I love the creativity of seeing a short square-based prism and thinking "cellar door."
    As a lurker, I'm neutral on whether you use 3d-printed stuff. I do like to see creative ways of using materials and making things that would otherwise be 3d-printed, but I also like seeing cool, highly detailed pieces. And sometimes 3d-printing is just about saving time so you can make more content, and I'm generally in favour of more content.

    Re:3D prints. I dont have a printer so I like to see non 3d stuff, but i did see a video where they did 2 of each item, 1 with 3D bits and 1 without. Also if you printed extra bits, could sell them(?)

    Loving the builds, dungeon and castle scatter bits are always needed so nice to see some great ideas like these :D
    If you are going to use 3D printed bit then try to have a hand-made crafted example at hand also, most hobby crafters don't have them and i feel crafting something is more of a hands-on personal achievement when using raw materials. Where as 3D printing is effectively removing that personal accomplished, that "oh wow, how did you get that effect?" from people seeing your builds, or such. Like hand drawn animation vs CGI, or home baked bday cakes vs shop made.
    but then again, 3D printers do give a great way of mass producing interesting greebling parts. And is it any different than purchasing parts like packs of skulls from shops or online? i don't know. I've struggled with the idea of getting a 3D printer myself but every time 1 go online to get one i get this feeling like the feeling i get when i used cheat codes in games as a kid :/ odd i know.

    • @irongryphon
      @irongryphon  Před 3 lety

    Just subscribed to your channel and I have to say your work is outstanding! For my two cents, stay away from the 3-D printed stuff. There are too many crafters who use a lot of high-priced equipment and special tools. I'd rather see what can be done with a simple collection of tools and materials.
    To you other crafters out there, you can also get a rust effect with a watered-down mix of orange and brown craft paint (1:1:1). Just brush it on and let it dry. The same technique can be used to make a verdigris effect on bronze.
