I am South African, Indian origin. We make a dish called Kali /sungati. Its similar to fufu or ugali and we eat it with fish curry. But I have been living in Australia the last 35 years so I make it here with polenta. It is so yummy and yes I chew it. I eat with my right hand. I think the use of the left hand was strictly influenced by the eastern traditional values.
The kokonte looks so good. 😩
You've made me change my lunch last minute.
Hahahaha!! What was the initial plan?
Konkonte my all time favorite 😍
😂😂😂 wanted to say something but heyy not today 😂
❤️ 😍
I like fufu with groundnut soup, that’s my favorite ❤️, greetings from Frankfurt Germany 🇩🇪
It’s the best with groundnut soup!!!! 🇬🇭🇩🇪
@@Anaieta try palm soup with groundnut , it’s a mix soup
Great !! konkonte is becoming popular but fufu is the original. Yea, in the village they'll convince you to try the right hand. nice vlog
I haven’t tried it yet but it’s my husband’s favorite 😅
lovely couple. Keep it up. Love your channel
Congratulations on 10k subscribers 🎉
Thank you~ I’m excited
The most interesting video 😍❤️❤️❤️
My favorite Ghanaian food !❤
Woow yummy Ghanaian food
Thank you watching from London
Throughout the history of the world people have been leading/eating/shaking hands on the right because most people are right hand dominated. So I think that's why people do it, even in countries that haven't been colonised by the British! 😃
We are most hygiene ever in the history. It’s time to get over it!
It was interesting to see how it would be delicious to eat with our hands 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
when you eat with your hands, you connect with your food - what Sadhguru says, and I resonate
I love yall together 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yummmm 😍 in Igbo traditional soups the fufu is always in a different plate than the soup....also I havent seen salmon in Nigerian soup instead they eat a lot of catfish
You are the queen of African food, i know so little😅 you need to try Ghanaian fufu and I’ll have to try Nigerian one🇬🇭🇳🇬
Hehe 🥲❤️😘 definitely
👍👍
I like Living Room, the owner is a very nice guy. One time I met Marcel Desailly there 😊. I like fufu light soup and local chicken or beef. Also try TZ with groundnut soup or Bito leaf soup.
He seemed very nice but didn’t allow me to film the people pounding fufu. Got me thinking what’s happening in their kitchen 😂
@@Anaieta that's too bad. It would be good to show the pounding of fufu and the rythme that goes into making it. By the way, many many years ago The Living Room was like a movie place. You rented a room and watched movie with your friends.
🙂Chewing is better for your digestion
Hahaha yes!
I would like to see you wash it down with palm wine 😊
I’m left handed as well, so I can relate! Is it rude if you ask for a fork? Healthy meals!
It’s not rude. But I don’t think it tastes the same when using cutlery. Eating with hands is just 🤌🏼
@@Anaietalive your life in the fullest & forget haters. I too was born in a small country next to Ghana before moving to US. We have almost the same dishes.I too can't just swallow fufu, I chew it at least one b4 swallowing it. I also use the spoon for the soup. Maybe next time on vacation I'll invite u & ur husband & we all will go & I'll chew my fufu as well😂. Don't forget no matter what u do or say some ppl will always be offended that's human nature. U can't please everybody. ❤
So this was what you were doing when I was waiting for you? I seeeeeeeee. 😂
😂😂😂😂 sorry ooh!
You don't eat with your left because that's the hand we are trained to use after doing number 2.
How do you know which one I use for no.2?🥲💀
@@Anaieta when l use the word “you”, l don’t mean you specifically, l am using it general terms so don’t take it personal-l don’t know YOU, the content producer, so l wouldn’t know that much detail about you. Growing up in Ghana, we were thought to use the left for cleaning ourselves and the right for eating and greeting people. Using the left hand for gestures and other public functions is seen as insulting.
Even Islamic republics of Iran forbid eating with left hand.
😂😂😂 where did you get that from?
@@Anaieta
From the prophet Mohammed in the book of Hadith. You will noticed that l said Islamic republics of Iran, so any Iranian who is not a Muslim might not have problem eating with their left hand but Iranian Muslims don’t eat and should not eat with their left hands. Even practicing Jews among the Iranian don’t eat with their left hand ! You might be from Iran but a lot of things about Islam and Muslims has nothing to do with your nationality, it’s either we do it as our prophet does it or you don’t do at all. Muslims uses left hands to clean and washed our private parts and when we do things we always start from right to left. You may not know these if you are not a Muslim. Plus I am wondering why left handed folks don’t shake hands with their left hands, l don’t mean any thing bad about left handed people though.
@@alfapaul5593 first of all Hadith is not Quran! Bring me a part of Quran where it’s mentioned anything about left hand! Secondly, you clearly have never stepped foot in Iran. Because what you are saying is far from the reality.
Lastly, I use right to do what you described as dirty, so should I care about what you think of me or my own hygiene?
The fact that me living my life and using my own hand to eat my own food has irritated you so much tells a lot about you!
@@Anaieta
So you believe the Quran? Please read the whole chapter 56 of the Quran there you will find what is being said about left and people of the left. Since you based all your augment only on the Quran than l we like you to show me from the Quran the numbers of rakat Muslims should perform on each of the five daily prayer ?
Try to only quote what people say not the other way around, l didn’t use the word dirty in any of my comments ! You put that word in my mouth. Yea any reasonable person will know left handed folks definitely uses left hand to do nearly everything in their life including the one you mentioned.
As for me ever being in Iran, Iran is an Islamic republics so I don’t have to be on its soil to know that Muslims there should not be eating with their left hands.
As for people telling you how to live your life, I say people like you who put their affairs in public domain should blame themselves. You brought your life to the public so you should expect questions or comments of this nature plus no one is telling you how to live your life.
I was expecting you to comment about my statement concerning Jews in Iran but you overlooked that issue. Do practicing Jew in Iran eat with their left hands ?
@@alfapaul5593 one must travel to know how others are living. I can’t explain basic things to such close minded person like. May allah open your mind and teach you to mind your own life🙏🏻
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
How can u chew fufu come on girl is not acceptable 🤣🤣u make me feel some way
😂😂 it tastes even better
Try it next time
My father was Greek. I was born left handed. My grandmother would smack my hand every time I used my left. So today I'm right handed. He comes from the part of Greece colonized by Venetians, not Turks. My uncle by marriage is Persian. He left Iran before the Islamic Revolution. There's no left hand eating or greeting for him either. I don't think it's a British thing or a religious thing. The left hand is for wiping your butt.
The food all looks delicious. Try and learn to eat with the right hand, I know that’s not accepted in Iran too. Eating with right hand is not British thing, it has been in existence way before colonization..Salute
In Iran It’s okay to use any hand to eat though we don’t use hands to eat so maybe that’s why it’s more acceptable. Anyways that’s the theory i have 😅
She can use a spoon as well...I do. I chew it slightly too.
@@Anaieta
You are an Iranian but I disagree with you that it’s ok to eat with any hand in Iran. Iran is a Muslim country and prophet Mohammed forbid using left hand to eat. Even Jews in Iran don’t eat with left. In Islam everything right has more preference than the left. Nearly everything is always done from right to left. Even the disciples of Jesus wouldn’t want to sit on his left hand in heaven, they all want to be on his right hand when they meet him in heaven.
@@alfapaul5593 your information is inaccurate. I have always used my left to eat in Iran. No one cares and there is no verse in Quran stating that you shouldn’t use your left hand to eat. In fact, they believe you are smarter if you are a left-handed in majority of asian countries.
Please did your husband tell you in Ghana we do not eat with our left hand or he is not teacher of Ghanaian culture Please I want know if offended am sorry is just a question
I guess our sister didn’t like your question because she did reply my question in few hours while yours got no answered for 8months. Please read alfapaul comments and our sister reply.
Oh brother why don't you show your wife how to eat fufu
😹 Ana Ana, your right hand theory is tripe. We had our culture before the British arrived oo. The right hand thing is not just when it comes to eating. You have been in Ghana long enough to know that even handing something over to someone or receiving from them with the left hand is considered offensive. Someone used the no 2 example to illustrate why we consider the use of the left in eating offensive. Your response was how did the person know which hand you used in doing number 2. But why would you use your right hand to do that nasty stuff? That's gross in our culture, and it's nothing to do with the British. Iran has Muslims. Isn't it Islamic also to eat with the right and do lavatory stuff with the left? The fact that it's commonsensical to a lot of cultures doesn't mean a coloniser necessarily imposed it on them.
The towel, by the way, is know as tripe in English. Wele is the skin. Tchau! 🤓😉
🤓😉
I can tell you are a right-handed without you having to mention it. That just shows how much you can’t sympathize with people who don’t think like you.
1.there aren’t many documents from pre-colonization that can support what you say about Ghanaians “always” using right to hand over objects and eat with right. That could simply be something imposed by the colonizers and became a thing. Like many other things.
2. If you took time to discuss how left-handed use different objects you wouldn’t have been so surprised to know we use the left to do many actions others do with right hand.
3. The number of people who are right handed are more than left-handed so that’s why many things are not designed for us. Also manu cultures don’t care what the minority wants .
@@Anaieta I don't have a problem with people not thinking like me at all. In any case, this is about misrepresentation of facts, and I'm seeking to correct that.
I don't have a problem with you, since you're not from here, eating with your left hand. I am only correcting the false impression your opinion created about the use of the right hand in Ghanaian culture.
We don't need any documents to tell us our way of life. We live it. You're the one who's imposing your opinion on us. Watching your videos, it's clear you can be highly opinionated sometimes. Be flexible to learn. We were never, in our culture, left-hand inclined, when eating. It's strange that you can't accept this, considering that most of our foods are eaten with the bare hand. It has never been part of us to dip our left hand into food. Hell no!!! If anything, the British rather should be tagged with cutlery usage. And in British cutlery etiquette, isn't the left hand what is used to eat? How strange you've flipped the script and are forcing it on us. Why would you form a false opinion and insist it is the truth like this? Most of our foods are best eaten with the bare hand, and those foods existed way before the British came here. As such, even a left-handed child is trained from infancy to eat with their right hand, even if they'd do other things with the left.
That's our culture. It has nothing to do with the British. Don't push it, please. And you sounded offended in your response. Don't be.
Imagine going to stand before a chief, or any elder at all, to hand something to them with the left hand. It's unthinkable in Ghanaian culture, far from anything British. Westerners, generally, including the British, are actually not as strict with right hand use as it is in Ghanaian culture. Come on, girl. Pipe down.
So put your so-called documents aside, and delve into Ghanaian culture and do some finding out, please.
In America we shake hands with the right hand and also wipe our behinds with the right hand. It’s all good! ❤️💫🌏
