They need wider tires with lower pressures up front, and a tighter steering ratio (input:output) from zero he has to turn the wheel halfway before anything happens, along with longer pedal travel on throttle
Looking awesome! Just add 1-4 degrees negative camber to front to get rid of that excessive understeering. 5cm stretch and softer front suspension settings would also help to get some weight to those front tires..
Crosskart are the exception to the rule. The hairpins are so tight opposite turning and rotating with the throttle is the fastest. On any high speed track on asphalt the opposite is true.
@@WynnofThule That's because of the solid axle. Sort of like on a sport quad or sprint car, there's no differential, so sliding is the best way around a corner. It's also way more fun!
@@WynnofThule That's cool man, what class do you run? Always wanted to try a shifter out. Karts are unique because there isnt any suspension, so the entire frame flexes, lifting the inside. Crosskarts and quads do have suspension, so while the inside doesn't "lift", the weight is still transferred off of it.
I suggest using Turf Tamer tires on the rear, that do great on pavement and loose dirt/gravel , They also SQEEL like a mutha during burnouts, FUN! FUN!
Try a wider tire and rim. Should help the traction/ understeering. Also try a weighted steel plate in the front. Bolt it underneath the car in a way you can move it back and forth to find the best spot to help the weight distribution.
I use to own a 738 lbs turbo gsx1100f 300 hp sand car w/30” paddles. 95 mph up the face of sand mtn in UT. It was terrifyingly fast. A cross kart would be epic with a built N/A 250hp busa motor, a little more wheel travel and a slightly larger tire.
It's best to stay in the lowest gear possible to keep the motor in high revs and out of the mid range torque through the corners and change up the gear as you exit the corner and that will prevent too much oversteer which will increase your cornering speed.
That first cart is what's known as effed up on both ends! It's wicked loose in the damn straight away and really shows its ass in the corners. Now here's the really fun part kids, when he unloads it in a corner, it dumps all of the weight onto the front end and develops the push from hell! Just wow! You can hear his nervous laughter after he narrowly misses face planting the guard rail. I mean he came to a complete stop it shook him up so bad! That suspension needs to retake geometry class because what ever equation they're using is completely fooked!
Noticing on your Crosskart, the rear sprocket is huge, yet you have small wheels on it, so it is geared high, yet the speed is limited to the wheel size. Mine is the opposite, geared low with big wheels. But yours seems to be designed for speed and not difficult offroad use, mine is designed for mountain roads. This is what I really like about these builds, is you build it for your needs, as opposed to trying to buy what you think will work best for you.
nice crosskarts, looks like you need to work on your roll centers(maybe lower them) and different length and not parallel control arm design, as you can not get full tyre contact patches while cornering... (more camber acceleration would do the job) And the front uprights or arms have problems 4:39 either something is really loose, or you need much more camber acceleration maybe some caster. Great crosskarts anyway, I wish I built one someday...
Might want to steer that thing with both hands, since there is maybe one or two gearchanges during the whole lap. Also helps to not overdo steering inputs that way.
overdo steering inputs is a massive under statement, i wanted to scream STOP TURNING THE GD WHEEL ALREADY. like holy crap your going straight leave the damn wheel alone
Would you lower the rear upper inboard mounting point by 1/2-1 inch ? or something else ? The arms look parallel or divergent rather than forming an imaginery crossing.

4:54 .. You can see your right wheel looks like it is flexing a little farther than it should there. Maybe you should build some mechanical stops to keep it from turning completely flat like that.. @@calholli I think you are exaggerating a bit. Also the left wheel seems to be turning the as much on the counter steer right after that. I don't know if it is the camera angle but it does look like outer wheel turns more than the inner while normally on cars it is the other way around.
