    I lost 20 pounds in 5 months without lifting a single weight, purely through nutrition. Not “diet”... but nutrition. I overhauled how I eat and what I eat, for life. Started working out a month ago, lost another 5 pounds and I’m now at a weight I’ve not been at for close to two decades. Not stopping till I hit my goal either... another 30 pounds to go!
    Yeah, I was obese. Now I’m just chubby lol. A year from now... I’ll be shredded. Feels good!
    ONE YEAR UPDATE:
    First off, thanks to all the words of encouragement in the comment below. You’ve now idea how much it means, honestly. Thank you all.
    So, my progress. Yeah...
    I’ll spare everyone the long version. Short story is my back is fucked... big time. Nerve damage and whatnot, and severe muscle spasms now rule my days. Physio is helping but it’s a slow recovery. I’ve not been able to exercise at all for about 8 months. Hell, my lifting weight max is about 10 pounds lol. There is a plus side though... my wife is now on garbage bag duty rofl.
    Had a recumbent stationary bicycle delivered a few days ago so I can start getting some kind of cardio going safely. Also doing lots of yoga. Super exciting stuff eh!
    On top of the physio I’m also being referred to a pain clinic to help manage things. Probably get steroid or lidocaine injections into my spine and/or hips.
    I’m down, but I’m not out. And I’m not giving up 💪

    • @HeliRy
      @HeliRy Před 4 lety +60

      Brandon Abrego absolutely! It’s simple really. I just entered my personal info into a macronutrient calculator to get my total numbers for my current physical state. I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app and entered the numbers into that so I can track what I’m eating. Then I reduced the total calorie intake by about 12% and the app adjusted the macros accordingly. Easy!
      As for what I eat and how I changed it, nothing unexpected. No more fast food. No animal fat when it can be avoided. Skinless chicken, breast meat only. Extra lean beef cuts, all fat trimmed off. More fish. No soda or anything like that, just water. Lots more veggies.
      Basically, eating well by eating proper whole foods, and having militant consistency in doing so. When you’re obese and start eating well, it’s amazing how the weight literally falls off. Just need militant consistency and dedication. The rest takes care of itself.

    I keep coming back to these videos because they've helped me so much.
    Over the last few years I was at my highest weight and extremely depressed. I'm very short and got up to ~130 ("overweight"). My blood tests started showing prediabetes, and other health problems. I did everything I could to change, starting with my diet, got referred to a nutritionist (an MD, who told me literally almost the same things I learned by watching Jeff). I focused solely on my diet, exercising when I could. I am down to 115lb (healthy weight), lost a lot of fat % and muscle up 4%. This all happened within the last 6 mos! I feel so proud of myself, but I could never have done it without my dietician and Jeff Cavalier teaching me the right way to do this. And no, I am not paid to say this, Jeff, unfortunately, doesn't even know I exist! But I hope it motivates you to keep moving forward!

    Hey everyone! Recently I was diagnosed with Corona so I had to stay in self isolation for 14 days. I'm 15 so I had to literally stay in my room all day. My parents would just have to sort of drop each of my meals outside of my door every day. This meant that I wasnt really snacking on things like chocolate, crisps/chips, soda, etc. For about a year now I've been trying to lose that last layer of stubborn fat, trying every method out there. But from these last 14 days of just drinking water and eating only the three meals, I've finally lost it! So my tip to anyone who is trying to lose fat, or maybe just a little bit, quit the schnacking. It's amazing how much it did for me. Obviously for some with health conditions they'll need to snack but you get my point.

    Just simply doing that, which is nothing crazy i lost just right at 10lbs in 4 weeks and continuing to lose weight. Im 28, I haven't been this lean in almost 5-6. years.
    Cut out sugar, increase water intake, be conscious of what you eat, and move around and exercise a few times a week. I have more energy, happier, more confident, and very efficient and get shit done faster and more effectively (I am a nursing student).

    For me, i lost 10kg in about 8 weeks just from eating a lot less. Say i was eating about 2200 calories a day, i cut that down to 1600, sometimes less. I also went gym a few times a week. That massive calorie deficit completely stripped me of my fat. So basically, if your significantly overweight, just eat at least 500 calories less a day, and try doing a bit more excersise, and you will lose weight very quickly

  • @Gunth0r
    @Gunth0r Před 5 lety +37

    My workout (lost 5% bf in 2 weeks) EACH DAY:
    - 30mins of cycling (@ 8.5MET or higher, about 300-380 kcal )
    - 30mins of power-training (about 100-200kcal probably, depends on your rest time a lot, I only rest when switching machines / weights for about 10-20 seconds or so)
    - 20mins of boxing (high intensity, also about 300kcal)
    So an average of about 700kcal burnt per day, training.
    Now add your metabolic rate at rest (2400 for me).
    I have 3100 kcal worth of burn each day.
    My diet comprises of:
    ° 40g of oatmeal + coffeecup of milk OR 2 eggs with two slices of bread in the morning
    ° A banana or some vegetable source of carbs like two or three carrots (just to keep some energy during the day) at noon
    ° A normal healthy dinner (keep potatoes / pasta / rice low, low percentage of cooking fats and no or little sauce).
    This is about 1600-1700kcal. So 3100kcal - 1650kcal = 1450 kcal burnt per day from mostly adipose tissue (fat).
    It won't show on the scale that way, but 1450 kcal roughly translates to 170g of fat or 1/3 lbs. You should be losing up to 170g of fat every day (my actual progress, with some lesser days and some days more active than planned, doesn't veer too much from those figures, as I said, 5% bf loss in 2 weeks with 3 resting days (still on diet on those days and deficit in kcal)). It could be higher too, since there's waste energy in the conversion process.
    I was at 24.6 % bf, now I'm at 19.6%. I've lost 2kgs of weight too, but I'm not focusing on weight too much. Just wanna see my muscles pop out everywhere. I'm going for 9-10% bodyfat. I'm gonna start increasing caloric intake and building more muscle around the 13-15% mark (500kcal deficit instead of 1400kcal, more protein in my diet, less cycling/boxing and more weights). Sophrosynicle That’s amazing that you lost so much weight that quickly, but if you want your muscles to pop and look fuller and healthier I’d suggest consuming more protein, carbs, and calories overall in your diet. That would supply your body and muscles with the nutrition needed to grow and recover. Idk your body type so I can’t say anything for sure, but the diet you mentioned does not sound very sustainable or full of enough nutrients to grow to your maximum potential. I know it’s been 5 months so maybe you’re already on track and have a great nutrition and workout plan in place. Just thought I’d offer some help if I could. Keep up the good work!!!

    I was 97 kilos when I decided I wanted to see my abs and get fit or healthy I used to get headaches palpertations all the time and had this unquenchable thirst all the time, I started training on the 1st of July this year until present day, I'm now 82 kilos that's 33 pounds buggered off. I do have to admit I'm on the keto diet or lifestyle and cut an enormous amount of calories from my diet, but I train nearly every day, for me personally it's the only thing that has worked and I'm 42 years old now. I'm the same weight I was in my early 20s and still have I reckon about 8 or 9 pounds to go. I gone from a size 38 to 40 inch waist to a 34 inch waist. And yes I went cold turkey, I guess I'm determined.

      Eating healthy as a poor person is actually very easy. Buy the raw ingredients and plan out your meals a week ahead of time or even a month ahead of time if you like to go that far. All you really need is one veggie each meal and balanced macros. Much cheaper then eating off the dollar menu at a fast food joint.
