    I have two Tikkas. A t3 and t3x. Both in 270, one for me, one for the wife. Outstanding rifles. The T3 light in 270 prints one ragged hole at a hundred. Amazing accuracy. The X is about .75 moa. Factory loads. Keep building these amazing rifles and we will keep buying them.

Also on one side of the stock up the front wore down to the black polymer in spots from carrying the gun on my side in a safari sling. I expected some degree of wear but I only had the gun for 5 months.

    I wanted to ask Sako/Tikka manufacturers: what is the real difference between Sako and Tikka rifles? Is it the fit and finish of the Sako that makes the price higher? Can the Sako shoot more accurately, and if so, how much more accurately does the Sako shoot versus the Tikka? Thanks for the help. I thought about getting a Sako but didn’t know how much difference there was between the Tikka and Sako rifles.
    I have three Tikka rifles and I can honestly say they are by far the best rifles in my safe.

    • @edijsmajors
      @edijsmajors Před 2 lety

      Barrels are the same.
      2 VS 3 lug bolt (Tikka : Sako)
      Overall finish will be nicer for Sako, therefore the price will be higher.
      Accuracy will be the same. Buy "cheapest" Varmint Tikka, upgrade it with aftermarket stock etc. and you will have superb firearm thats maybe still cheaper then some Sakos. Check out GRS from Norway. Cant beat the price.

    • @ethanschenck9714
      @ethanschenck9714 Před 2 lety

      Along with what Edijs said, the magazines, safeties and action sizes are different too. Tikkas use a single stack polymer mag, while the Sako 85 uses a double stack steel mag. Both are detachable, but the Sako needs to be pushed in slightly for the mag release to work.
      Tikkas have a two position safety where forward means the bolt can be moved and the rifle's ready to fire, while back means the bolt and trigger are locked. Sako has three positions with a middle position that allows the bolt to be moved while the trigger is locked.
      Tikkas have one action size with bolt stops for smaller chamberings, while Sakos have different sized actions for different length cartridges, which will make the rifle a bit lighter if it's in a shorter chambering.

      Yes and No. Tikka T3X is singel stack.

    • @phild9813
      @phild9813 Před 3 lety

      As far as I’m aware, most are still single stack. Benefit is that it resolves feeding issues before they even try to pop up. Particularly in the shorter fatter rounds like 300 wsm, etc. I just wish they’d do 5 round mags for all the available cartridges.

    • @user-vo1ni1im1l
      @user-vo1ni1im1l Před 3 lety +1

      @@phild9813 ok, I see. I own T3 CTR in 308. And I actially wanted to buy T3x CTR exactly because of the difference in mags but there was a shortage of T3x's in Russia due to the sanctions. However I am surprised to hear about any issues with double stack, didn't know that. I put my T3 into TRG chassis and use TRG double stack mags. Works just fine. And I'd say I'd opt for 5-round double stack mags, if I used my rifle with the stock plastic stock. Not robust enough maybe, but I liked the hunting profile and hated the look and feel of the plastic single stack mag sticking out of the rifle.

      @@martrg1 at this time all I could find was Winchester 55 grain soft point, hornady 50 grain vmax and PPU 55 grain soft point and none of them could do better then 2” groups at 100. The best was the PPU, which I never heard of before but I bought it anyway because of the times. After I got home I researched PPU and they are an Hungarian Ammo company that has a good reputation for making quality Ammo with several government contracts. But they did the best out of the tikka. The Winchester did the worse, all over the place, 6 to 7” group.

      Hey mate. If your rifle doesn’t shoot 3 shots in 1’’ at 100 m/y then tikka/sako will exchange

      @@magoo3380 thanks, but I have just given up on the tikka. I purchased a different 22-250 , different manufacture, and it works great. With the new 22-250 I am getting 1/2” groups at 100 yards with hornady production ammo.
