    These are not just for Warmaster! There's a large Minihammer community out there that use 10mm mini's to play different rank and file Fantasy games like Kings of War or old Warhammer Fantasy!

    • @kyussinchains
      @kyussinchains Před 2 lety +5

      Both are still going and well supported by enthusiastic fan communities
      Warmaster has grown hugely since all the 10mm patreons appeared, producing models better than anything GW put out
      Epic is still going strong too, there are thriving tournament scenes in the UK and Europe, as well as in Australia and parts of the USA
      The *best* thing GW ever did was abandon the games and leave them to the fans
      That being said, I have it on good authority that GW is bringing epic back to complement Adeptus Titanicus

    I’ve painted about 1500 of these Forest Dragon 10mm scale Vampire Counts. Very enjoyable and it really looks like a horde when it’s all on the table. I own several armies in 10mm and battles really do look like battles, rather than the ‘large skirmishes’ that my 32mm armies look like. More 10mm please!

  • @sirbobulous
    @sirbobulous Před 2 lety +10

    6-10mm is my primary gaming size so painting small stuff is my daily experience.
    I would not go to this level of detail on anything but a character model. For hordes of ranks and flank troopers you can go a real long way with base+wash+drybrush. Then pick out key details in pop colours to make them stand out.
    The other big thing is to start medium and go brighter. With such small models and small details using dark colours just obscures them into each other. So start bright, give a dark definition/separation line and then pick out a pop detail.

    Awesome to see some Forest Dragon minis being painted they have some amazing sculpts. I love how much detail they can pack in at this scale and yeah painting is super satisfying. The Forest Dragon vampire line was this first Warmaster army I have ever completed and I love the results especially when everything is all ranked up. Every base is like a little diorama especially the heros and generals you can really get creative with them. Can't wait to see what you do next with this 10mm stuff.

    I have a lot of 15mm Napoleonic figures that are pretty much all painted (I have a Polish and an Italian brigade in the queue). A 4x6 table filled with them is a pretty impressive site. Most games are set at 1:60 scale (1 fig = 60 actual troops) for a Corps per side or even higher for army level games. They're fun to paint, as a lot of the details of the uniforms are not necessary or can be done with a small dab of paint (At that scale you can't tell the difference between a grenade badge and a star).

    it's really amazing how different the same game can feel when you do. it's really cinematic and i know that sounds goofy, but the smaller scale really changes how you perceive the whole game. also i would like to plug pendraken minis over in the uk. they have a line of 10mm fantasy called warband that are amazing for their detail, but also for the variety of poses. not exaggerating when i say the skele pack i bought had 7 different poses for a spear holder.

    The only thing that comes to mind when I see that tiny Manfred is that meme with the baby bat and the caption "FEAR ME, I AM THE NIGHT!"
    Other than that... yeah, 3D printing is now easily as good as plastic from GW.
    Soon GW.
    SOON.

    I recently painted some 6mm (epic 40k) models and I wasn't able to do any more than basecoat, might have to try soment a tiny bit bigger.

      Do it. 10mm armies can be just as beautiful as their larger brethren!

    Beautiful. I started at 10mm. I played epic space marines first. Was shocked they made a game with larger figures and jumped right in.

    Speedpainting these minis is very simple, at least for vampire counts. Slap chop and speedpaints are great for this scale.
    I just painted a 2000 points Warmaster army this way. It was super easy, barely an inconvenience. 😄
