It's called phase cancellation, when two audio sources sound way too similar some frequencies cancel each other out, resulting in a cool effect and in this case almost inhuman sound.
Vanessa Bayer's coy and authentic sincerity really sells this as with everything she does. It wouldn't hurt to bring her back in guest slots and she'd be an excellent host.

It can be both. grabbing hand like that or patting on the upper back (in the mid spine or near shoulder area) these can be either comforting gesture or a complete power move. I personally find her to be very dominant. If you see in the early interviews/shows she did not have these gestures, but in later times or now she has it. my conspiracy theory is she learnt to be dominant to survive in the industry.
The Rachel impression was AMAZING!
It was funny the first 30 seconds, then it went on for a minute more. In the end the basically admit through Anniston it's not that great and that it goes on for too long, which is just a cop out for lazy writing. It's like making a show about making a show and being all pretentiously self critical and aware, while actually admiring oneself in the mirror. But I suppose that's describing the millenial generation to a tee, so they eat it all up.

She did an amazing job capturing Rachel's essence. The character doesn't have a specific thing that's really obvious or "out there", and yet she managed to channel all of Rachel's little mannerisms and sounds. Amazing!!
