my parents played pigmeat's albums so much until they started to scratch.i still have all of them,,now pig was the best comedian of all time.listening to this takes me back to my childhood days..my goodness
Ooooooh Weeeeee, parents ,relatives play that every Friday night at family functions,we the kids had to stay in the room playing, but we we're listening!😂😂😂😂
This IS classic and great! Delivery, timing, well-written with just enough "blue" innuendo to be really funny and not get arrested in that day. Great, great post. thanx.
So many dimes….”It’s all ready to fire, I’ll park any bogus braud in the deep moss if she tries to give me the double cross…” this is line better than most new rappers whole songs!
My dad is starting to lose his memory but he can recite Pigme ! He's been reciting Pigme to me since I was a child ! My mom would yell "don't teach her that mess " !
Thanks for sharing this time capsule with us. It brings back memories of my parents listening to these records in the living room and us kids sneaking and listening from our room. Those were the good days.
I remember those albums as a kid. I wrote a poem honoring him a year before he passed. His son took it to him and Pigmeat gave his son an autographed pic of himself and Baby Seals to give me. Quite a great man! I'll always love Pigmeat Markham!
Thanks so much for posting. I remember hearing this track back in the late 60's. Funny then and funny now! Just the thing for a hot, laid back Saturday afternoon! "Don't turn that corner!".
Pigmeat Markham actually played in few episodes of Rowan and Martin Laugh In Sock It To Me in 1968 as a judge. He actually sang just like Tiny Tim the Swanee River with a ukulele and long hair. Pigmeat Markham (1906-1981).
I used to listen to this album over and over again as a kid. The only problem was my Mom (the one I stole the album from) was the only other person I knew who had ever heard of him!! Classically Hilarious Comedy! I only wish I knew more about him.
EVERYONE DRINK GIN OR WINE FARE AS HIS NEIGHBOR SAID NOT TODAY I HAVEN'T INTILL HE FINALLY TOLD HIM WHERE SHE IS AND TALK ABOUT TROUBLE DON'T LIE TO YOUR WIFE OR YOUR HUSBAND IN OTHER WORDS YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW
Boy this is good to listen too it brings back my childhood when my grandparents put he and Mom's Mabley on and we where supposed to be playing but we where listening
I remember hanging out with a buddy and his older brothers back in 1962 listening to Pigmeat and Moms Mabley. We had loads of laughs. Just a few years later, I had the pleasure of meeting Moms Mabley in a grocery store near my home town. She had the endearing charm of a grandma. She looked exactly as she does on the cover the the album "Hide the Whiskey".
Yes sir! 10 years young, just returning from Germany, and at the Apollo with Pigmeat and Moms Mabley --- LIVE! Didn't have the first darn clue what the jokes meant and why my parents were passing out laughing.... I understand now ... and when that (and this one) comes to mind at work --- can't get any work done laughing!!! "Take another drink, and talk to me!"
Bless you for this upload! My twin brother and I used to listen to this with our grandparents when we were little boys. We would laugh ourselves to sleep listening to Pigmeat.
Me and my brothers were raised on Pigmeat! He was way before our time but my dad thought it was important that we could see where comedy came from. Pigmeat and Moms Mabley! YES!
"You got a dirty old lady"..."TAKE ANOTHER DRINK TAKE ANOTHER DRINK!" When I was a kid we would sneak and listen to this, Red Fox, and "Skillet and Leroy".

Wow, Everytime the older folks had a party, they would send the kids 'up to bed' and be playing this stuff downstairs. And we had a playful Uncle who would always bring us a sip of rum. MAAN, I MISS THOSE DAYS, brings tears to my eyes just thinkin' about it!
Hello Sir! Thank you for this recommendation. Great comedy! Hadn't heard Pigmeat in a long, long time. Fine man! Funny man! They should make a movie about Pigmeat. I think it would play well. What do you guys think? (Edit) You know who could play Pigmeat in a movie easy? Mr. Charles S. Dutton. He has mannerisms like Pigmeat. It's a natural fit! What y'all think?
"Don't put the stop on it..." "I know you know'd somethin' when I saw you comin' down the street..." "Take another drink and talk to ME!" "I ain't shot ya yet, Gal..." Genius...
Man he was hilarious. I heard his films were lost in the Universal fire that burned up a bunch of old films and recorded music masters. What a tragedy.
The main inspiration for Foghorn Leghorn was the southern senator Beauregard Claghorn one of the regular characters on the Allen's Alley segment of The Fred Allen Show. Look it up and have a listen.

My first time,
Rumor has it that Warner Bros, came up with Foghorn Leghorn ( the loud country rooster) based off Pigmeat.
GOT to, he absolutely HAD to be one of the inspirations.
The main inspiration for Foghorn Leghorn was the southern senator Beauregard Claghorn one of the regular characters on the Allen's Alley segment of The Fred Allen Show. Look it up and have a listen.
Classic!
