    This video made me realize how short the SHED is. It appears all of these 6x4 or 5x7 or 8x6 metal sheds are short. I am wanting to buy a shed to store PA Speakers, and some other Audio equipment in. I stack the speakers. I need at least 6'5 of height through out the SHED. The Metal SHED option now looks like a no go for me.

    If you have little to no building experience, this isn’t as easy as they make it look. I wish they had shown more on putting the roof on and everything being straight. We spent alot of time verifying placement of pieces using the layer diagram at the beginning of the instructions. 23&25 made us crazy because if it wasn’t for the layer diagram, we’d have never gotten those in the correct spots using the directions. Please notice that they didn’t nail it to the base til the very end. I believe it is step 44 in the directions.
    I wish you good luck putting yours together.

    I was considering buying one of these but after seeing this I know that our wind gusts from storms regularly his and sometimes goes above 70 mph will blow this over... I can't make that purchase. It's too flimsy. I will have to build a wooden shed myself instead of buying one of these. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • @davidanderson9845
    @davidanderson9845 Před rokem +6

    I just finished a 11' x 12' shed, this was my first time. It took two days for me and my son. I'm an experienced carpenter but my son has no experience. The drawings were unclear in several places, it took a lot of time trying to interpret what they meant. And we had to re-do some stuff. This video did help. But sometimes we still had to drill our own holes so it would work. The metal is very thin and dents easy. I'm concerned if it will hold up in the wind and snow. And it's too short- I didn't realize how short it is. The inside ceiling might be 5'6", I'm 6'0"
    But it's much cheaper than a wood home depot shed and it does look nice. If we had the money I would've built a wood shed. We'll see if it holds up, might work great we'll see.

      Did it hold up?

    • @davidanderson9845
      @davidanderson9845 Před rokem +1

      @Levi 501 So far so good. I was careful to clean the snow off whenever the snow got to 2" or so. I lined the inside with plywood, that strengtheed it against the wind. I should've put 4" L metal to protect the edges, (of the wood platform i built,) before I built the shed. I did after but it was harder. I also put ice and water shield on the inside to protect the floor as well, and again should've done that before I built it. And if I built a 12" pony wall around the edge, I would be able to fully stand up inside. But I built shelves and it works okay as a storage shed.

    I don't recommend this shed if you want to use it outdoors in the winter in a country that has snow. My shed collapsed like an accordion from the weight of the snow and Aosom only warrantees it for 90 days. So unless you set it up outdoors in the heart of winter when your shed collapses then you won't have a leg to stand on. Aosom won't refund you. But they will offer you a 5% discount on future purchases. Beware.

    The negative comments were obviously made prior to building this shed. When finished, it is totally sturdy except for the doors which could be stronger but they work fine. The pieces are well marked matching the numbers in the book and should be laid out with numbers showing before starting. This must be built on a flat surface, best being concrete or wood or the holes will not meet. They give plenty of extra screws and bolts. Hint: if a screw doesn’t meet perfectly, use the longer floor attachment screw. What isn’t clear are the door runners. They must go in as per the picture and top and bottom over the front lips of the bar, Video looks like they go inside the bar. They do not. I did the larger model of this shed, 10 by 6 feet. You need to build this on cool days without much sun. Some pieces are sharp. Wear fine gloves. Follow the book directions with each piece facing the right way or you are screwed. The three hours stated to assemble is a joke. The large shed took 10 to 12 hours although we kept checking for accuracy and did not hurry. The end result was worth it. There is a 1” metal lip all around about an inch high at the inside bottom which is the same height as the inside support system. This allowed adding a 3/4 inch plywood floor, painted with outdoor gloss paint before installing. This made the shed even more solid. There is such a good inside metal support system and with the floor and weight of items in it, this shed should stand up to wind. For myself, I built it on the back east side of the house where it is largely sheltered from the wind.

    Great design but poor quality. I'd have preferred it to be more expensive but better quality. I found the instructions good and the parts were packed in the order you would need them. When holes didn't line up it was quite possible to "massage" the parts into shape to fit the screws. I built a wooden base before I started. To be honest, I would not buy this item again. If it was just slightly better quality it would be really very good. ( metal panels thinner than a can of baked beans. And I'm not exaggerating).

      In the end after a bad storm the screws worked loose, I replaced them with rivets. I have now used 2x1 tile batten horizontal lengths around the inside and put plywood to it and it has strengthened it a lot, I had most of the wood so didn't cost too much more, but at the end of the day I could have picked a decent timber shed the same size, taller for a lot less.
