Me and my fiancé always talked about combining the Scandinavian and Japanese style together I love this concept. I am half Scandinavian from Iceland and he is Japanese Polynesian. We both share the love of minimalism and I am very excited to put this concept into the apartment we just moved into. I think also Ikea is a great store to check out for this style too :)
Polynesian would go nicely in the mix, I would think. Natural colours and textures, and the woven grasses etc.. 😁😁👍
@Soa Lena Tjøstheim Eide That's geographically definitely true.
Though worth to mention here, when talking about Scandinavian Design, Finland & Iceland have arguably had even more influence on the Scandinavian design modernism movement than some of the actual - geographically - Scandinavian countries.
This Scandi has always thought that Japanese interior design looked so much like what I know from home. I sometimes (more often than I would like to admit tbh...) have trouble telling wether a room is Japanese or Scandinavian. A lot of Danish design is very popular in Japan and if you know what to look for you can spot Danish pieces in almost every Japanese room tour! It’s fun how more or less the same idea can originate in very different cultures located so far from each other.
Side note: I also see a lot of “home” in quite a lot of Korean interior pictures/videos - I’m not sure if it’s because Japanese/Scandinavian decor is popular there though or if it’s yet another similar style of its own.
I love that, too. Ultimately, no one can claim an idea as their own. All ideas belong to Inspiration.
I have LOVED this style for a while now and this was amazing seeing it explained so beautifully.
Thank you!!
I always look forward to your new uploads. I absolutely adore your videos. They are so well put together with the edits, photos, and soft background music. It shows that you really put a lot of thought and effort into making them. Also, your way of breaking down the styles, giving thorough proof and explanations, and even more your passion for home decor is inspiring! 😊 As long as you keep uploading, I'll keep watching.
Much love! ❤
This was so concise and informative! Loving your channel I’m so glad CZcams recommended it
Aha! That’s why IKEA is doing so well in Japan 😃
If they where here on Brazil they would sell a lot! The problem is our money is currently worth nothing hahahahah
Wow. This was really informative and inspiring without being cliche and shallow. Appreciate the images used as examples and also the pointers on where to shop!
Another super helpful, insightful and practical video! Thank you so much, Vivien.
I think this might be the best Japandi video I had seen. Really covering all the bases!
Thank you, I love the way of the clarity that you have and the messages that you cover as well.🤗😊
Very informative and short - just perfect! Thank you for all your work you put there. I wasn’t aware of this style and apparently that’s what I was trying to achieve in my last two homes.
I love, love, love Japanese graphic art designs - simple, yet elegant and sophisticated.
Very clear, concise and straight to the point video. You had me really focused for those 10 minutes and I learned extremely a lot. Thank you!
It is so refreshing to see a video that not only conveys a sense of style but also captures all the elements for simple living. We are in the process of moving from our current home and looking for other options in creating a home with less clutter. I have alway been a fan of minimal living but have to also incorporate the love of a cozy home for my husband. It will be a new chapter and keeping my fingers crossed that we will find something that we will both enjoy together. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and will share your ideas with him. Thank you for sharing.
I am going through a lot of videos which teach Japandi style, I can honestly say your explanation and points out-beat most!
Will watch more of you now on! Awesome work
This is 100% my style! Thank you for these tips to pull it together.
I love simple places in nature and want to try to incorporate them in my home. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions.
Your video is the best and most detailed and clearly defined explanation of Japandi that I’ve seen, really excellent, thank you so much!
This is exactly what I was looking for.. you have beautifully explained the amalgamation of two similar yet micro distinct design profiles.
Glad CZcams recommended and I listened😃… Subscribed👍🏼

Best Japandi introductory vid out there! 🙌 Could you please do one on Junglalism and Jungalow?
My video on boho decor would cover a lot of what makes up jungalow :) I'd recommend starting with that!

This is the best Japandi video I've seen because it gives due weight to the Japanese side of the style. All other videos I've seen on here are very Scandi-focused. Thank you for your thoughtful treatment of the subject.
Excellent explanation! You're clearly very talented at what you do and can convey it eloquently.
My first time coming across your channel and I super love how simple your explanations are. 💞

Great video. I have never heard of Japandi before. I love the design that embraces imperfection, both padtel and dark tone colors - just like yin and yang. Thank you.
by far she is the only one i've seen that actually talks about the technical and details of the materials used .. thank you.

Great video!
I'd like you to touch on the French Contemporary interior design style. I think it's very pretty :)
best home design youtuber by far! you deserve more subscribers! i'm sure they'll come soon
I love how u mentioned the different focus points and that japandi is not one clear style but also can be more on the japanese side or on the scandi side. Now i realised that indeed i am a japandi person but leaning more towards the japanese side.
And there I was trying hard to decide between Scandinavian or Japanese interior design 🤣
I saved all these videos for when I finally move out and i did! Re watching all these to decorate my apartment.
Amazing!! Thank you very much. Very useful information 👏
Back in the 70's my graduating thesis for my Environmental Design degree was, "Japanese Versus Scandinavian Influences", which included a slide presentation as well. My teacher was so impressed, she asked if she could use it in the future for her classes. I wasn't aware of any "Japandi" design style at the time. Who knows, maybe I ushered in the trend! Christa Reed
@@chiduong8218 slide film presentations with a projector. I think that’s how they did it back then.
@@chiduong8218 Kodiak was famous for the slide carousels that worked with projectors. (we're not talking about Power Point on computers, lol).
@@chiduong8218 😀😀😀😀 you’re funny
That’s awesome!
Do you have a copy of your thesis? I would love to look!
