🤣😂😂🤣 haha.
Brilliant!
She has complete control over the dynamics of EVERY note she plays, amazing.
Absolutely true, Jernej.
@@paulzeng6211 She plays the game as well as the piano. That's a character thing and a management thing, none of which take anything away from her skills. I'm not saying she's the best ever, I'm saying her playing is very impressive.
@@paulzeng6211 Oh my god! Then what would you say about the over-rated, arrogant, hyper-theatrical, fame-craving, smiley-faced Lang Lang?
Fun fact: She had just finished playing Liszt's B minor sonata. She stood up for the applause, sat back down and started playing this as if the previous piece had been a warm-up 😎
Pretty sure Liszt b minor sonat is harder then this idk
@@awe331 she played this in octaves tho right? then no
Pro QBr
It’s not octaves cziffras version, and yeah I’m pretty sure this is easier then sonat in b minor
@@awe331 definitely LOOKS harder to me tho, maybe isn't
@@awe331 Well, it would be hard to say which is harder. On one hand you need a lot of stamina and crazy Argerich-like power to play the octaves in bumblebee, but on the other hand you need tremendous virtuosity to play the sonata properly. I guess you could say the Sonata is harder because it's a 30 minute-long effort. But bumblebee is definitely no walk in the park. 😅
Yuja Wang is a gift from the gods. It isn't only the speed that impresses. You can hear the melody shining through that impossibly furious attack with the rhythm completely intact.
Agree. Of course she’d years upon years of repetitive practice, but she’s a gift from God himself

This is one of those rare pieces that I think no one ever complains about its interpretation being too fast because the faster it is the more it comes closer to imitating the wings of a bumblebee.
Ask Sacriligious Boi
@@lucachu7775 u have a point, I remember that video XD
Fast is one thing, articulation and clarity of the notes are another.
In this, the notes are very clear and distinct, unlike the death of the mosquito violin sacrilegious man

Seems sped up. Is it though?
I’m floored! To watch a person with world class talent, regardless of the instrument, is one of the great pleasures in life.
World class is an understatement in this case
Makes me realise that there is real talent in the world, while we are being saturated in mediocrity.
That odd moment where the pianist surpasses the frequency of actual bumblebee wings ...
Noctumus hmmmm
Possibly has the Parkinson's disease.
Nah. No human could ever (Yuja Wang included) hit 200 keystrokes PER SECOND on a piano. Bumblebees flap their wings 200 times per second so you should've researched that before commenting. She's fast, but not nearly THAT fast...So many dumb people liked your comment too...lol. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
Bad sense of humour. Very bad indeed!
Well, I found your comment amusing!! 😂🎉❤
most do that piece single note on the runs. She did it in octaves! That's really really, really, really, REALLY difficult at that speed.

that’s cziffra in a nutshell
My hands hurt just watching her, this isn't a bumblebee it is the whole hive. Breathtaking is all I can say, I did not know a human could do this, instead of a singe notes she did it in octaves. Bravo!!
Cziffra's version of Flight of the Bumblebee is just amazing, and Yuja does amazing wonders with it

"Yuja Wang plays flight of the bumblebee" is the understatement of the year
The most shockingly amazing piano playing I've ever seen.
1. Young and fit woman
2. Extremely quick with her hands
I think it's obvious what everyone is thinking about: She would make a terrific typist in high profile court cases where a lot of dialogue is spoken quickly, or perhaps a fine cardiovascular surgeon where hand speed, along with precission which this young woman also seems to posses, are of the utmost essence.

There is not a pianist on the world that cannot say 'wow'.
I saw her do this very piece at around this time. 2008. It was astonishing. The control of the nervous system to coordinate those octaves is something. For those of us that play appreciate the difficulties all the more. I've heard most every great pianist of the last 120 years and she takes a back seat to nobody.

Fun Fact: She won that piano from Satan after defeating him in a musical duel.
That reminds me of that fiddle song where he battles the devil to get a golden fiddle, and wins

And it was considered the greatest song in the world.

When I was 14 I learned this piece.
I could actually play it correctly.
But at about half that speed AND NOT in octaves.
There are gifted people like her. The rest of us are just mechanics. Which is OK because we know enoug h to really
appreciate the great ones.
This woman plays genius level piano. I hope to see her play live someday. She is truly astounding and I see a lot of emotion in her playing. It's exquisite.
Utterly, Utterly amazing. Good grief. Who would believe such talent exists!!!!!

2nd. Cziffra was 1st.
Um, no. There are far harder pieces by Alkan and I don't think even Yuja Wang has the guts to try them.
Caleb Hu true. Alkan has some crazy, and I mean CRAZY songs. And liszt’s range of impossible songs is endless. Ravel also has some pretty darn difficult songs
The song was fast enough already!! The fact that she made it even faster is just...*Wow*!!
Mad skills, magnificent expression, technically perfect, astonishingly brilliant.
Grateful that I can witness this phenomenon. And grateful to CZcams for the link it provides to great music and musicians.
The arrangement she performed was by Gyorgy Cziffra, so cziffra did it originally, she replicated it very well.

This is so incredible. And the speed reminds a lot of a swarm of bees
Each note sharp and crisp. Gorgeous on every level.
My goodness. I just got stung. Ouch !!!! Bravo. Greetings from USA
This lady is my favorite female pianist. She has the talent and the drop-dead gorgeous looks to hold my attention. I especially enjoy listening to her play the Turkish March. Her style is unique to her, but some people criticize the way she plays it because she does not conform to their close-minded understanding of how the Turkish March should be played.
The most extraordinary talent, quite astonishing.
I've never seen anyone's fingers move so fast, with great control and technique.
Her fingers move like the wings of humming bird
OMG, I never thought anyone could play it that fast. Fantastic.
this song gives me so much motivation to work harder at piano, and to make sure I focus on my weaknesses. love listening to this.
The moment she hit the first note I immediately knew that this is no longer flight of the bumblebee anymore.
One of my favourites, amazing what you can train the hands to do love it
Such Talent! My ears are in love!
ASIAN PARENT: NOW PLAY BACKWARD

PLAY IT BACKWARDS AT 2X SPEED OR I WILL GROUND YOU!!!
ARE YOU A DOCTOR YET?
Now play it with your feet
I remember playing The Flight of the Bumblebee, however I don't remember it being anything like this! 🙃😆
I was also a court reporter - 230 wpm - the strength and endurance in your hands alone are incomparable at that level, not to mention her photographic memory!! Genius. Prodigy. Savant? Unbelievable!!
She was just 21 years old here. When I was 21 I was mostly drinking and crying
Lots of people are bullshitting about how unmusical this is. Good for you, now look at the sheet music and realize that she is literally playing chromatic octaves. You're seriously hopeless if you think that this is the correct piece to comment about musicality. It's like comparing any of chopin's nocturnes to a chromatic scale. The piece is called flight of the bumblebee, bumblebees make an annoying buzzing sound and I certainly hear a lot of buzzing. I don't listen to this and expect to hear Richter's interpretation of Prokofiev's 5th piano concerto.
But do you really fail to enjoy and feel any admiration??? I can't believe it, unless you should be deaf or pedantic. Pray, excuse me if it is the case.
She's really buzzing and even faster than the bee ! Watch her hands in this video. One big blur. That's talent !!!
I can't help but say this is pure madness!!!!
I’m so glad this has 8 million views
まさに熊蜂の飛行のような演奏で本当に素晴らしい(*´∀`)♪
Elle est absolument prodigieuse !!!un feu d'artifice 👏👏👏👏😍😍
How do you go from listening to a Bumble Bee, to writing something like that? And Yuja Wang is stunning!
She is so good at piano!
Replace that piano with a type writer, and I bet ya, she would finish a book on seconds.
Jonas Dalbakk The typewriter would instantly jam. :-) It would eventually work with a computer keyboard but as far as I can see, she seems to type as fast as in certain Superman episodes !
+ObsidianParis Unfortunately, she will jam most computer keyboards, especially the USB ones with polling rate of 125Hz
+Kookai Chanda In this particular case, maybe we could extend the buffer size. The computer will digest it during intermission :-)
Her's type speed was 50 words / second
The video can't even capture the moves of her hands cause they're moving too fast holy shit
Konashi Bruce Lee and Vladimir Horowitzwould be proud
Horowitz's Transcription and arrangement of the Rakozsky's March is still one of the most metal things on the piano I've ever heard. Too bad we don't have a video of him shredding the piano performing it, but the audio is incredible enough!
I had a band teacher who could play this on hwr trumpet. 11 yr old me thought she was a god but this blows that out of the water. AMAZING
She is extremely talented and hard working. She has a tremendous memory reservoir which unfortunately I never had all my life and I could bot play more than two notes of piano, and yet I love Brahms, Beethoven, Chopin and their gifts. Just admiring those musical talent that I never had except my drawing skill of which I am satisfied. Admiring musical talent only from a ten foot pole. And I do make jealous comments on Lang Lang and Yuja Wang just because they both are naturally talented and very hard working on their task ! George Wu, ARCHITECT, AIA, NCARB 2017-11-21
Yup, memory is the key. It is just to complicated to even try to memorize the notes.
She is amazing! I hope to be as good as her one day! WOW!
JazzKeyboardist1 I'm actually uploading a video soon. I am not a professional or anything. I taught myself how to play by ear.
Never. Jk, but never

Amazing with the arrangement of the great Cziffra! ❤
Wang Yuja... Perfection.
The only song in the world I would love to be able to play flawlessly on the piano.
Start with the Rachmaninoff arrange and work your way up.
It's not "Asian" that makes her an amazing musician. It's called talent and practice. haha
And as far as musicality and emotion, it's called "Flight of the Bumblebee" for a reason. Sure she could have played parts differently, but if you expect a romantic love painting full of emotion and expression from this piece, I'm sorry to say, you're in the wrong video. I'm sure at her caliber, she has her own interpretation and emotional input in each piece she plays. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong (because everyone has his or her opinions) but everyone should just learn to simply enjoy and marvel at great talent.
First of, the Asian thing is a joke. You've either been under a rock your whole life or you are too dumb to comprehend. And I'm pretty sure talent wasn't even that helpful, I'm positive it's her parents that made her become so good.
The reason the Asian joke exists is because Asian parents strive to make their kid better because with the population in Asia, there is a lot more competition to be better
TheDifferentGuy l
But there is some truth in that Asian joke... as an Asian myself I have witnessed many Asian pianists who are all technique but no skill. However, Yuja Wang breaks that stereotype. Her other videos demonstrate how she excels in both technique and musicality. She is truly incredible!!!
@@shirleyhe4215 I agree. It's not "Asian" that makes her an amazing musician. It's "Asian parents".
I swear the crowd almost breaths a sigh of relief for her when she finishes.
This is the best flight of bumblebee I have ever heard. If you close your eyes you can really hear the bumblebee.
Her hands are moving about as fast as a Bee's wings during flight.
Her hands really did look like they were fluttering at some points, although it made me think more of butterflies (the hands alone).
I first heard her described as having extreme velocity. Some time later, I truly believe it.
I now have a good reason to GIVE UP piano. :-(

She is Fantastic!
When Rimsky Korsakov wrote Flight of the Bumble-Bee, it was intended for piano because it's the only instrument with 88 distinct keys. Each key in the composition creates a singular note eerily characteristic of the flap of a bumble bee wing.
Yet Yuja Wang manages to take each note of articulation and add richness to it by playing each individual note as an octave group. Not only that, but she does it with both hands which is an extra two octaves on top of the original composition. In masterful execution, she creates the effect of not one pair of wings but multiple multiple bumble bees flapping their wings in unison.
You know that the original version was made for an orchestra, right? It is a part of his "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" opera. The most popular piano version was arranged by Rachmaninoff and the one Yuja Wang plays here was arranged by Cziffra
