    In Kashmir, 3 de-hyphenations stand out: youth have de-hyphenated from radicalism; de-hyphenation with Pakistan; and security agencies’ success in de-hyphenating weapons and people. Everybody wants to crack UPSC, NEET, JEE. They are the Valley’s new future. Watch ThePrint Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta share his experience of travelling around poll-bound Kashmir. #writingsonthewall ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Doesn't he hear himself talking? He is so respectful of leaders who have under their regimes done nothing positive for the masses of Kashmir. They have thrived on violence and fueling anti India sentiments. And Shekar has the audacity to say that his memoir should be completed as it would be a valuable treasure for future generations. This is reflective of the elitist mentality that politicians and leftist journalists had and lived in, where the quality of lives and the inconveniences the masses had to face was not something to be given importance to. For the leaders who are today making perceptable improvements to the lives of people, Shekhar is not so generous.

    Dear Mr. Shekhar Gupta Ji,
    You are one of the senior most Jiurnalists in India at the National level, one of the most successful ones in the last 50 years and more, one of the most influential ones and perhaps one of the richest ones anongst the lot.
    Your fast paced and a very long Kashmir account, though enlightening for non-Kashmiris, is a narrative which a genocide Victim and an exiled Kashmiri can sum up in a two words, Kashmir problem
    "CHHI TAAM FAETIS TULL" !
    Kashmir has a very old tradition continuing since Mahabharta days ;
    of fighting, and quarreling for the whole day..
    But at every Sun Set the fighting, quarreling, name calling, exchanging invectives, shouting, screaming , bad gesturing, exchanging abuses, hurling "Kangris at each other etc is stopped and symbolically kept under raps.
    " Fot" is deep willow bssket and the fighting is, kept under this willow basket for the night to indulge in normal daily activities from cooking to eating dinner and having a sound sleep with some entertainment thrown in.
    But only to restart the fight next afternoon, again symbolically messaging by Overturning the willow basket, the "Fot" !
    Kashmir problem, Kashmir issue, Kashmir dispute, Kashmir imbrorglio , Kashmir conflict, Kashmir Flash point, Kashmir Cancer, and MASLAAI KASHMIR
    has been kept under that symbolic Maha Bharat times willow basket the "Fot" by willy and cunning Kashmiris sensing the rise of a no onsense Govt at the Centre.
    Believe me as a true Kashmiri with a 5000 year old Kashmiri gene, that the day Modi is out from power in New-Delhi and is replaced by a week leader, the "Fot" from the issue would be thrown away to resurrect the issuec and release the genie of Maslaai Kashmir once again..
    It is only a Kashmiri who can reveal this real Kashmiriyat to you, as no Dhoti Prashad ,
    an expert, a strategist, an academic, a leader, a cleric, a sage, a guru or a Sadh Guru ,
    From any corner of the continental sized country, Bharat, can reveal it to you ever.
    Mata Sharika bless you..

    Sekhar ji at his best with words & play magic . Tough to assess the reality, no clarity on what is good that happened in the last 5 years what can be done in the coming times. He would do good if he comes out with details other wise his travels is wasted.

    My dear Shekhar, this is not how “writing on the wall” came to be. This expression comes from the Bible (Daniel 5:5-31), in which the prophet interprets some mysterious writing that a disembodied hand has inscribed on the palace wall, telling King Belshazzar that he will be overthrown.

    SG has attempted to provide a broad overview of improved situation in Kashmir post 370 abrogation. Actual situation on ground is far better. Most Delhi based journalists just travel to Srinagar, interact with a few politicians and form their opinions. For a reality check, one needs to travel across the expanse of the valley especially the rural belt to feel the pulse. Overall security situation has improved drastically and local population, especially the youth, appears to be aspiring for lasting peace, development and a bright future. Tourism is booming and the current generation appears to have realized its importance. Huge infrastructure development is in progress both across Jammu and Kashmir division. Selfish politicians and separatists have lost their relevance. Non- J&K residents need to visit to get the first hand experience instead of forming their opinions based on propaganda. Valley appears to be gradually returning to its glorious past but for that to happen, safe return and dignified rehabilitation of the KPs is a must as Kashmir is incomplete without them. Meanwhile, Govt's current policy wrt rabble rousers needs to continue to ensure lasting peace and prosperity.

      @udayu6208 Před měsícem +1

      Agreed. He finds it OK to say Modi failed in 5 years, but the disruption that Kashmir endured during previous governments is not according to Shekar a failure. Rather, he would like Farook to complete his memoir so that the 'treasure' will be available for future generations. How pathetic can Shekar Gupta be?

    It takes at least two generations to reconcile if there was no periodic reminders from across the borders.
    In Kashmir unless we find a permanent solution, it will take generations to get the fruits of abrogation of article 370 and amulgamation into Indian Union.
    This becomes further difficult with the influence of Muslim clergy , orthodox beliefs and cross border interference.

    "The writing on the wall" is an idiom that suggests a portent of doom or misfortune, based on the story of Belshazzar's feast in the Book of Daniel in Bible
