Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. I was like you, listening to the stuff I used to listen to 20, 30 and more years ago - there is only so much growling and screaming I can take, most metal bands seemed to have forgotten about melody ... then I stumbled across BABYMETAL.
You won't find another band like them and their live shows are incredible. At the centre is lead vocalist Su-metal, supporting her at the start her two good friends Yuimetal and Moametal. Nobody had incorporated choreographed dance into metal before - Yui and Moa are in charge of that and their dance is both interpretive for the meaning of songs or of a lyric, but even more importantly it is designed to hype the crowd, to get everybody involved and joining in.
Sadly Yui was injured or taken ill late in 2017, she missed a couple of big shows under her doctor's advice and she was not on the 2018 tour. In October 2018 she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo, for live shows they are supported by any one of three dancers taking the third spot.

You presented a good reaction, but a great description of how you felt and heard. Your talking points are very real and open minded...not to mention heartfelt. This band offers many different songs, and if you choose to listen to more they have a lot to listen too! I do hope you consider reacting to a few more songs!

To me, this song is about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At 1.04 is a mushroom cloud and at 3.04 a falling object destroys a city.

@@antdolla702 Sorry for not giving you a proper comment, i was a little bit busy.
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘
You were really jamming with this song and that's all that matters for me, and I'm totally with your train of thought at the end, so if want something different in your life then BabyMetal will definitely be your option, but you'll have to go back more than 10 years to know how they arrived here and what's really BM all about coz trust me, this song is beautiful and with different elements, but is not even close to show you what they're capable to do when performing on the stage.
Dance choreography and metal had never seen before and they somehow managed to make it works, there's no other group like them out there and after they blew up internationally with the biggest hit Gimme Chocolate!! they opened up the gates to many others J-Metal and J-Rock bands that many fans are enjoying knowing, so thanks to BM the Japanese music scene were certainly benefited. They got the bless of many others rock and metal legends like Metallica, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Guns N Roses, RHCP, Korn, Corey Taylor from Slipknot, DragonForce, Rob Zombie, even Lady Gaga took them on her live tour and many more famous artists and bands gave support to this truly phenomenon.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, They are:
      *SuMetal* (lead vocals).
      *MoaMetal* (scream and dance)
*YuiMetal* (scream and dance, former member since 2018)
      None of them are related.
Some recommendations for next songs like:
      - _"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"_ live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 or...
      - _"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!"_ live at Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her 16th birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title).
      - _"Catch Me If You Can"_ live at Budokan 2014 (you got a safe to react version with subtitles at GuilhermeCait channel).
You have more than 50 songs and still more to come. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have *Babymetal Reactor Resource* channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them.
This song is beautiful and full of meanings, we all are theorizing about it, but the main point is they're trying to tell us a new story and lore about a metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs they found after a year of official hiatus when sealing the group. Everything will be revealed at their own time and you didn't even watched their first previous single of this upcoming album "The Other One".
Thanks for sharing this and hope to see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Great stuff man, glad you enjoyed it. Interesting point: you said that it sounds like the singer was singing from the heart about her own life experience, but she actually didn't write those lyrics. In fact, almost all of their music and lyrics are written by hired professional songwriters. But you're absolutely right that she has a fantastic ability to convey emotion. Not all of their songs really show that off, but this one and a dozen or so others really do.
If you want to check out more of their stuff, I would suggest either Headbanger live at Legend 1997 or Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere. Those are both older songs and won't run you into the copyright issues that you might have with other, more recent live videos. They're at their best live, both in terms of their incredible stage shows and in terms of the sound - the singer's voice is often overly compressed in their studio tracks and loses a lot of expressiveness. Regardless of whether you do more reactions or which songs you do, I hope you check out more Babymetal and I hope you enjoy it! Cheers!

Good reaction to a great track anyway that (to me at least) is loaded with meaning. You need to SEE more of these girls - they are performers and all their tracks are pretty much different - generally better live (although there are some pretty good MVs). Surprise is probably one of Babymetals really strong points - and it doens't go away :)

I had to split my comment.
In live shows they are supported by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians - they can play anything. That is just as well - BABYMETAL have about 50 songs now and each one is different - some are hard metal some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between.
They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will also mix in so many other musical styles and genres, not just pop. You will find ska, reggae, rap, hip hop, Bollywood, Latin, Finnish polka, EDM, dub step and more ... usually when you least expect it.
They started in 2010, 12 years later and they are internationally the most successful Japanese band - Su will be 25 next month, Moa is 23. You can work out how old they were 12 years ago.
For another reaction try 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, For Ever - you can call it IDZ) live at Sonisphere in the UK in 2014 - their first major event outside of Japan where, aged 16 and 15, they were faced with 50-60,000 UK metalheads who had no idea who or what they were.

Great reaction! I love metal music and I do like the more aggresive vocals but I know what you're saying. There is a limit to how long a person can be screamed at. Babymetal is the best of both worlds. We get the metal instrumentation but also that beautiful soprano voice as well. I hope you will check out some of their live stuff and you will see they are visually as appealing as they are on the audio side. I'm not talking about their looks, I mean the live show they put on.

    Hello from France 🤘
I just saw your reaction, and especially read your comments (in subtitles, I'm French and bad in English) and I understood the substance of the message, and I tell you bravo 👏👏👏, you are right to tell people to stop listening to the same commercial shit thrown on the radios, in France it's the same thing, while there are so many good bands, known, or less known which are excellent, see great.
To come back to BABYMETAL, I'm a 57 years old Metalhead, I've seen a lot of concerts, from the biggest to the smallest, from 50 people rooms to 80 000 people stadiums, I enjoyed it for years, and then little by little I got tired of hearing the same thing, and I came across BABYMETAL in 2019 and it gave me a new lease of life, and the taste to go and listen again to the music I'd dropped.
BABYMETAL was made in Japan to bring in the Metal music to the people who don't know it, by being a Metal music not too violent, but a little bit, so that the people who don't know the Metal music say, Ah, this is not too bad, I'm going to see a little bit further what the Metal music is.
Go deeper with BABYMETAL, you won't be disappointed, you won't like everything, it's not a big deal, if you don't like a song, move on to another one, no two BABYMETAL songs are the same, and you'll see.🤘🤘🤘

What you say about the vocals starting 7:44 is spot on. Suzuka Nakamoto alias SU-METAL alias Su is that good.
She grew up in Hiroshima. That may have an influence on her performance of this song.
