The Village Gravedigger

The Village Gravedigger - Ian Shipley has been traditionally hand-digging graves throughout the villages of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire for over 35 years.
This documentary looks into the life of a gravedigger, and the trials and tribulations that frequently beset this intriguing, but little known about profession.
It not only shares his knowledge of the job, but it follows him, thus revealing the work he does, as he habitually journeys from village to village.
In his area of work (Newark-on-Trent) Ian will feasibly be the last of the old-style gravedigger's. As a result this means the art and knowledge may be lost forever.

An awesome video, this should be seen by everyone. I don't think people realise the amount of planning and hard work that goes into gravedigging the traditional way. It's a lot more personal and respectful way of doing it, unlike the ''must have it yesterday at the cheapest way possible'' world we live in today.
