I literally can not go a full day without hearing this man speak
every morning I listen to something of his, helps with all the sorting, slaying etc.
You should propose.
He's not going to fuck you John.
I work alone for 8 hrs everyday. I listen i jp from when i get into my car until i park it in the afternoon. And let me tell you, he changed my life. Man, this should be obligatory in school.
I can make it a day or two. Barely.
The fact that you found a video of Jordan Peterson teaching psychology while doing comedy it means you have watched uncountable hours of his ouvre and analysis. You are on the right way my friend...
he seems so genuinely happy telling his story^^
He has said that he has a dark humour, and this clip does show it. I love how he's barely able to hold it together, which just makes a funny story even more funny.
I love this side of him. "They are no longer potatoes, they have returned to mother earth" XD great line.
Don't mind me just climbing the dominance hierarchy of this comment section
Shawn Bechard Comment replies tend to not.
Up you go, fellow lobster
How is Jordan so lovable yet such a bad ass at the same time?
Honesty for its own sake is both warm and open as well as hard and powerful. I think that more than any other trait explains it.
Yeah. And also, he is half Kekistani, half Canadian
so true - the truth....
Righteousness
'Cause he's a hero we always needed but never had. Untill now that is.
Upon first time hearing this I laughed my ass off for like 5 minutes straight, his usual content isn't exactly laugh out loud material so it really caught me off guard, was very much needed too :)
Yeah, that came completely outta left field.
I used to teach intellectually challenged high school girls who were always complaining that they'd never have a 'good job', meaning a job that society considers important. And I'd tell them that they could be a good waitress, eventually a really good one who would make people happy and make their day better. I'd tell them that all work was valid .I suppose they never really believed me because society doesn't see all work as being valid. Dr Peterson is the only person I've heard say that it is.
10:29 That's the only time I've ever seen him curse.
Definitely has more of an impact when you use those words sparingly. It's how they should be used.
Aye to that. That's the thing that really settles the rhetoric brilliant of the whole "segment" to me. He was almost telling a joke, and then, BAM, out of nowhere, the curse and the moral.
He cursed a few times on Joe Rogan's show.
He can curse, in the occasional video. But yeah sparingly - that's the ticket.
357, yeah that was the only other time ive heard him use the f word. he says damn all the time and occasionally bastard and SOB, but only twice have i heard him use the f word so far.
University educated, 30 year skilled business development guy in real estate, insurance, investments. 20 years in Canada as an insurance broker. Spent 12 years in Costa Rica with a stint in Dubai. Came back to Canada 3.5 years ago and have yet to find a decent job. For the first time in my life I got let go from 2 menial jobs that I should hae done in my sleep. I expected much more This vid is about me. The bitterness i feel at being brushed aside and my skills ignored is palpable.. The problem is with me.. I have a lot of sorting out to do. Thanks, Dr. P.
Wish you all the success in the world, man!
Are you doing better now buddy?
I hope you're doing better now, and likely are. I see this is 3 yrs ago, but hopefully you'll see this. I read this to my spouse, who is university educated, had a book business and stills deals loosely on the side and has self imposed been doing menial jobs. The main point is, we moved back to my hometown and he's been let go from 3 menial jobs and is so beaten down he doesn't even want to look for work anymore. He needs to snap out of it too. What you were going through and what he is, are trademark of marxism and the diversity agenda in Canada and the western world. White men are dead last. We have little diversity in our small Ont. town, so everything is women getting the choice positions first. Every time he's been let go, there are women who stayed, while men got fired. In most cases, the women weren't even qualified, but the quota must be filled.
Hope ur doing better now
"He failed it educate himself to the level his intellect demanded" .
Oh man. That is a fine line
Is this related to the fact that most smart ppl tend to be less happy? :s
@@selfiestick1589 not necessarily
@@selfiestick1589 Seems like more of a pride issue to me. There are intelligent people who don't care that they are smarter than their bosses at the Jiffy Lube, just like there are martial artists who don't care that they could beat up anyone in the room. Pride says you have to proof it to yourself and everyone else must witness the glory. I think Intelligent people are sad because they think more. Less you think the happier you are generally speaking. It's gift and a curse for both ways.
when Jordan Peterson says "no man , that's not breakfast, that's hell" he actually means that it is hell!
and its funny!
It perfectly summed up his point and gave me a good laugh.
yeah its no joke. I've lived both type of dinners and you guts will HATE you for the latter. They'll also make you understand they NEVER want to go back there!!
Symbolic.
I love the positivity of the comment section. Feel like Jordan Peterson is the only thing keeping me sane these days.
This video was priceless...and provided a fabulous therapeutic laugh. Big Thanks!
Everything about this video is beautiful, even the story of hell.
This is pretty raw, especially when you read more about this friend, Chris, in 12 Rules for Life. Damn, Chris reminds me of myself, hopefully I don't take the same path.
I won't.
still alive?
The first few minutes of this hit me so hard. Very similar to my experiences reading old Russian novels: I just marvel at the fact that someone else out there has felt exactly what I'm feeling. There's nothing new under the sun.
I just love seeing this side of JP, priceless...Shows he's not just a 1-sided intellectual. Thank you JP's son for putting these clips out to the world.
J. Peterson ... you are a blessing and a gift of god for people who want to hear the truth and meaningful content.
This is one of my favorite clips from your biblical series.
This is from his biblical series? Which one? The link posted above is broken
so excited for all that Dr P is developing and doing. I have become a dragon slayer! I cleaned my damn room. This story is both hilarious and struck a deep chord in me since I'm the over smart arrogant person that is trying to change this about me. I've not been engaging in my life or world because I haven't liked the people around me. I've set some serious goals for myself to turn my life around and change my tragic story so far into something better. staying tuned for the triumphant second half of my life. thanks so much to dr p for being there online for all of us..... his online presence has changed my life.
This is me but I'm changing it. My smartness devoured me for a long time, but I'm using it now and working my hardest to try to manifest it properly.
The two archetypal diners reminds of The RR (good diner) and Hap's Diner (bad diner) from Twin Peaks, and Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me
The strangest "life is what you make it " speech... strange yet brilliant!
fucking hell! he said 'fucking'!
This dude is more bad ass than any gangster rapper.
Can confirm: the person who works at the 7/11 near my job is EXTREMELY pleasant and always hands customers extra napkins and tells them, emphatically, to enjoy their day. My day is always, as a result, that much better.
In the easily over 100 hundred hours of content I have watched or heard of Peterson I believe this is the first time I've heard him curse.
"That's not breakfast! That's hell!"
Yes CZcams is a lot like living with a contentious wife. Ha Ha Ha Ha. You shoot me, I shoot you, we all shoot each other. It seems to be walking through fire on earth. What's next? Well I have some answers, but what's gonna happen next? "Oh look, another stumbling block." Man those are some rough things to overcome. My brain is completely fried from all of the actual blows to the internet and social media blows. I think you like it Mikey. Ha Ha Ha Ha
There is something wonderful to this. The poetry in the middle, providing reference and contrast, really adds a great value to the whole segment.
Like so many others, simply listening to Jordan Peterson has opened my heart to beautiful things worth living and fighting for. This story in particular resonates very well within me. My grandfather on my father's side was like this friend he speaks of, and he ended up killing himself. I'm also somewhat like this, probably more than I'm comfortable to recognize and admit.
this is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen
I love how he cracks himself up to the point of wiping a tear when he's talking about making the awful diner food!
"Orange juice where the only thing that's orange is the colour."
Both these stories are sad and wonderful. Tom's recital enchanting. Dr. Peterson logic and reason can be a thing of beauty and here comedia. . I would share it on my facebook, but I doubt my friends would get just how amazing this is. Salute to those here diners from Hell are everywhere just don't make them.
Wow so powerful!! Thank you for entering my existence! what a stormy presence you are, I have not stopped watching your CZcams videos since I met you first on a silly online comments discussion! Thank you for existing and sharing...sharing the shining...I hope, I hope to a world filled with people like you, so I will spread the word!
I've watched just about almost every type of video on CZcams but Jordan always keeps my interest he's the only thing I wnna watch now
Glad I found this clip I just watched the full video yesterday and I never laughed so hard I’m my entire life... well I probably have but it certainly felt that way in the moment.
This is one of my favorites. I already had it favorites on my channel, but I'll favorite this one as well 😊 Charming, Dr. Peterson
I can see why you posted this as the highlighted video on your CZcams channel...very good...and also the first time I have heard you swear! Damn more impactful when you use things sparingly.
I didn't know that but this guy is also a top level comedian ! If he ever wanted to change career he could be competing with guys like Louis C.K ! And win. Comedy with substance. That could be very powerful.
After watching all your lectures, every biblical series and all of your Q&A's I'm still hooked like a fish Dr.Peterson! The only question I have for you is if you could explain what your symbol for this channel and your original channel means?
One of the best JP clips ever...!
Glad to be here!
Thank you for adding the poem
Very nice detail to add the audio of the ideal dinner to serve as a contrast to the dinner from hell.
A really lovely video. Peterson is something special when he sticks to his area.
Ready for the clips!
Pure brilliance.
This was my favorite JBP moment ever
The poem took me by surprise, thank you
The good diner story reminds me of Hugh Akston diner in Atlas Shrugged:
"Dagny sat at the end of the counter, eating a hamburger sandwich. It was the best-cooked food she had ever tasted, the product of simple ingredients and of an unusual skill ... She studied the man behind the counter. He was slender and tall; he had an air of distinction that belonged in an ancient castle or in the inner office of a bank ... There was expert competence in his manner of working; his movements were easy, intelligently economical ... somewhere behind his look of courteous sternness, there was a note of humor ... "
Simply Brilliant
0:00 A dragon slayer is born.
Edit:
Good pick for a first video!
I made the mistake of sending a friend a long JP video (over 2 hours) . He could not follow it. Perhaps we need a 'hierarchy' of videos - lots of little ones at the bottom leading up to the really long ones
Jordan, if you ever read this! I really hope you read _Ham On Rye_ by Charles Bukowski. I think it would make a BEAUTIFUL example of how a man can just give up on what society's got to offer and pave his own way and own happiness in a world so Damning. I wouldn't even know where to begin. The part where he's watching his Prom dance from a window outside the school, or the part where he tries alcohol at 15 and never lets go of the bottle after that.
good thing mr peterson you are great i hope many people listen to you im kosovo albanian and you explain so well good thing mr Peterson
I love what a good time he is having describing the breakfast from hell.
Love the diner story, but I wish he would've finished the story about his friend.
he suicided.
He does in _12 Rules._
I searched Charles Bukowski and Jordan Peterson and I came to this.
He just makes me laugh and think and mourn it’s astounding
this meant a lot to me.thanks! seriously.
Brilliance and hilarity, such fun!
His intellect is staggering
Gordon Ramsey encounters these negative diners all the time. They deserve to be shit on.
Super FUNNY! Well done J.P.
Did my man JBP really just not only name drop Tom Waits but reccommend one of his poetry bits off Orphans???!!! My Lord.
I would pay absurd amounts of money to watch Chef Ramsay and Dr. Peterson visit an actual diner like this.
I've worked in both diners all under the same roof.
That's life man.
2:26 Pretty much what I did, except I wasn't contemptuous of the world. A little depressed, but that's all. I got a simple job and found that although much of my education wasn't too useful, my fundamental ability to problem solve and my strong work ethic has led to pretty decent success. It's nothing glamorous and it isn't the job of my dreams, but I've been promoted as far as I want to go, for the moment, and there is a fulfilling element to "a job well done" and to the respect I have earned.
The doctor has some stand up comedy skills!!
hahaha, the bitterly cooked breakfast description was hilarious!
I have been intrigued with the word hózhó. Surround yourself with beauty!!
"Hell's Kitchen" takes on a different meaning with Dr Peterson ;)
Damn...I have seen this shit since it was put out and could relate to it to a certain extend, but now I realize that I'm so bitter and trying to cling to my intellect even more than before...
This is the most stand-up Peterson has ever been.
I know people like that and they're absolute black holes to be around. It's so obvious on the outside what they're doing wrong but they refuse to listen.
Great speaker, badass, comedian❤️❤️❤️😆😊🤟
Holy shit!! I didn't realize Jordan is that funny, that was a professional comedy bit.
I've been in both type of dinners and man, its no joke, your digestive track will HATE you for the latter and will make damn sure you will know it doesn't want to go there again, EVER o.O
Es increible el como se explica es mi idolo
Dr. Peterson's stand-up routine, ready for HBO if they want it. =]
Jordan Peterson's motivational talk for healthy eating. =[]
Both diners remind me of New Jersey, the bastion of diners good and bad.
I was expecting the punch-line to have more than one line in it, but man it had some punch. "Then you curse God that a miserable diner like yours exists..." wow, that was intense.
lets keep an eye on the Patreon - we would like him to achieve so much
Comedy Gold!
A story about a shitty diner from hell is the only time, after 3 years of listening to Peterson, that I've heard him say "Fuck"
Wow, Peterson...
This is the best ! I'm peeing myself every time
First time I've ever heard him drop the F bomb lol. How shocking at first.
I've worked in that diner!
I bet earlier that morning JP was eating breakfast cackling like a fucking maniac
Damn. . . . The quality shot up
I've been to that bad dinner. Had them redo my eggs, they came back worst. I walked out and never went back.
sweet as hell.
Man that's a good comedy bit with an amazing lesson.
I can't believe JBP invented stand-up comedy
I fucking love this clip.
Ernest Hemingway: A Clean, Well-Lighted Place
Hearing Jordan say "fuck" for the first time was like hearing your parents swear when you were 5
That's me, all that matters is smart and the world isn't laying itself at my feet.
I really love this, I keep returning to it because there's something that's so deeply true about it. But I'm also fascinated that Jordan dropped the F bomb at the end, it's really good to see profanity sparingly and appropriately these days. When you uses that language it has an extreme punctuating effect I've never felt elsewhere.
No man that's not breakfast that's Hell. I get the feeling many people on Earth are suffering through a worst type of hell where they don't get to eat anything at all in this breakfast as bad as it sounds would be a slice of heaven for them.
