My memories of Gloucester are sadly coloured by having to stand in the rain for three hours afterward waiting for a lift. I do, however recall being given a tour of a pub cellar that was somehow connected with the Franciscan friars. It was a long time ago so I forget the name of the pub. But the beer was good, although not good enough to help me forget the weather.

Haha I remember the first time I visited Gloucester, it was raining buckets! Was a lovely day this time though.

there are plans for reopening
@@stephenchappell7512 I had a quick look and I don't think this is the place! If ever I get back to the UK, and if ever I revisit Gloucester I will be sure to check it out though.

It should be mentioned that although actual Roman remains are thin on the ground any city map reveals its street plan which survives more perfectly preserved than elsewhere
I was considering revisiting Gloucester to make an "Origins Of Gloucester" video, talking about what settlements were in the area before the city was built, and how different people, Britons, Romans, Saxons etc slowly developed the settlement that is today's city. So I shall have to include that info!

As a destination it's often overlooked despite there being plenty to see, a possible reason being the amount of unfortunate architectural acne blighting what was surely once a beautiful city
