The Meeting Between Musa AS and Khidr

The Context of the Meeting
Prophet Musa (AS) is told by Allah that there is a servant of His who possesses more knowledge about certain matters than Musa. Eager to learn, Musa asks Allah how he can find this servant. Allah instructs Musa to take a journey and that he will find the servant at the junction of two seas, carrying a fish.
The Journey Begins
Musa sets out on the journey with his young servant, Yusha (Joshua). They carry with them a fish in a basket, and the sign that they have reached their destination will be when the fish disappears. After traveling for some time, they reach a rock and rest. While resting, the fish miraculously comes to life and slips into the sea, disappearing.
Finding Khidr
Musa and Yusha continue their journey until Musa realizes they forgot the fish at the rock. They retrace their steps and return to the rock where they meet Khidr, the wise servant of Allah.
The Conditions
Musa asks to follow Khidr to learn from his knowledge, and Khidr agrees but sets a condition: Musa must be patient and not question anything Khidr does until Khidr himself explains it.
The Three Incidents
The Boat: Khidr and Musa board a boat, and Khidr makes a hole in it. Musa questions this action, worried about the people who own the boat. Khidr reminds Musa of the condition to remain patient and silent.
The Young Boy: They encounter a young boy, and Khidr kills him. Musa is shocked and again questions Khidr’s action, unable to comprehend why he would kill an innocent child. Khidr again reminds Musa of the condition.
The Wall: They come to a town where the people are inhospitable. Khidr repairs a wall that was about to collapse. Musa questions why Khidr would help these people without seeking any compensation.
The Explanations
After these incidents, Khidr explains the reasons behind his actions:
The Boat: The boat belonged to poor people who relied on it for their livelihood. By making it temporarily defective, Khidr saved it from being seized by a tyrant king who was seizing all good boats.
The Young Boy: The boy was destined to grow up and be a source of great sorrow and disbelief for his pious parents. Allah planned to replace him with a child who would be righteous and a source of comfort to his parents.
The Wall: Beneath the wall was a treasure belonging to two orphan boys. Their father was a righteous man, and Allah wanted the treasure to remain hidden until the boys were old enough to retrieve it. Repairing the wall ensured that the treasure would be safe.
The Lessons
The story emphasizes several key lessons:
Patience and Humility: Even a prophet like Musa had to exercise patience and humility to gain deeper understanding.
Divine Wisdom: Human understanding is limited, and sometimes actions that appear harmful or unjust may have underlying wisdom known only to Allah.
Trust in Allah: Believers are encouraged to trust in Allah’s plan, even when it is beyond their comprehension.
